For me being healthy is not about weightloss, it's about being comfortable in my own body! Wether that is being a size 2, 6 or 10 and everything inbetween and above. It's about knowing who you are and being comfortable in your own skin. _ I started #bbg over a year ago and I did not expect to finish all 12 weeks. I thought to myself even if I only do a month it's still better than nothing. A month went by and I started noticing a few changes with myself. I had more energy, I was sleeping better, I started to loose weight. And so I thought why stop now, and so I said that I could do another 4 weeks. Within these weeks I noticed even more changes and I think that was my turning point. _ After 2 months of consistently working out I was noticing a lot of changes both mentally and physically. And what I realised was that I wanted to continue to see what else I could do and what would continue to change. But I also wanted to keep going beacuse I didn't want to stop and eventually lose all the progress I'd made just to start again some other time. The #🗓 question new lifters ask me is "How do I lose fat and gain muscle?"🤔🤔🤔 . Unfortunately, there is no simple yes or no answer and it all depends on several different factors. 1.) Genetics 2.) Diet 3.) Experience level 4.) Current body fat % 5.) Underlying health conditions 6.) Discipline I personally have been able to build strength and muscle while cutting body fat, but it is slow and difficult process. I weigh around 172lbs now and I'm much stronger and more muscular than when I weighed 192lbs at the peak of my bulk. But my progress has been slower than I would have liked. . As a beginner lifter you need to be honest with yourself and choose between losing fat or building muscle. It is hard to do both at the same time at any level, especially for a beginner that hasn't built up good exercise and nutrition habits yet. . If you are uncomfortable with your current level of body fat, focus on starting from a clean slate and aim to lose fat first. You will get stronger and fitter while you do this. . If you are already lean and skinny, start out by bulking to add more muscle to your frame. You will get stronger and fitter while you do this. . No matter whether you are aiming to bulk or cut, you will get stronger and fitter in the process. It isn't a red or blue pill choice. Throughout your fitness journey you will have periods of bulking and cutting. It is a life long journey so don't get hung up on the first step. . 3 pillars for recovery by @michaeluptonpt Are you confused with how to recover post-exercise with the amount of bullshit out there? Don’t worry I got you👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 If you are within the general population and train 3-4x/week I wouldn’t fuss over it too much other than these 3 pillars of recovery. 1️⃣ Nutrition- it’s pretty obvious that nutrition is important when it comes to recovery, but with the amount of ball bag supplement stores out there now it can be confusing. Some are legit and want to help you but majority of them are shit and are in it for one reason and that’s for the 💰. Post-recovery protein shakes can help with convenience but are expensive as fuck in some cases. If you are getting adequate protein and carbohydrates throughout your day, protein shakes are not needed. But what about the anabolic window? The literature has suggested its bullshit and if you are in this for some fat loss and to look good naked you are looking in the wrong place. Focus on total energy intake for the day and your daily protein target 👌 Sleep is king and 7-9hrs is recommended. Want to know the benefits of sleep? I highly recommend giving the book “why we sleep: unlocking the power of sleep and dreams” a read by Matthew Walker. You can thank me later. Hydration- again pretty obvious. For exercise performance it is important for temperature regulation during exercise in the heat. What is recommended? The AI (Adequate intake) below are established for water under normal environmental temperatures and activity levels For adults age 19 and over. It's all about calories.⠀ -⠀ Wait it's all about the quality of your diet?⠀ -⠀ It's both brothers and sisters.⠀ -⠀ What you see on the left will allow you to manage your body weight, specifically body fat and lean muscle tissue.⠀ -⠀ Calorie deficit = Weight Loss⠀ Calorie Surplus = Weight Gain⠀ Calorie Maintenance = You guessed it, Maintain weight.⠀ -⠀ You should go through periods of all 3, although that is dependent on your goals.⠀ -⠀ Ideally you want to get to a point where you habitually maintain your weight, and thus your body fat level.⠀ -⠀ However if you get too chubby, move into a deficit until you are at a body fat level that you are happy with.⠀ -⠀ Maybe you want more lean muscle tissue on your frame?⠀ -⠀ Then a mild calorie surplus is exactly what you need.⠀ -⠀ On the right you will see a variety of nutrients, with some examples.⠀ -⠀ You should be looking to get plenty of each, in particular those lovely fruit and veggies.⠀ -⠀ They are all important, and the only way to achieve optimal health is to eat a varied, wholesome diet.⠀ -⠀ You should never fully exclude any specific nutrients as they all have their place in making you super healthy. A message from Iron Will coach @dakota_ironmeccapdx . . I began my fitness journey as a 21 year old, fresh out of a break up, wanting to take my mind off of the rejection and pain I felt. . . After six years of training I was able to step on stage and win my first women’s bodybuilding title, the Sonoma County Bodybuilding Championships in the Lightweight class. . . I stayed on the competitive path for nearly 10 years with such a clean lifestyle that I didn’t even have my own birthday cake for 6 of those years. . I was so hooked on this look that I had achieved - one that was devastatingly hard to maintain year round without a HUGE amount of effort (8.5% body fat off season). I didn’t have my periods anymore. I would imagine being relaxed, having fun social times with my friends sharing an occasional pizza and beer, but couldn’t bring myself to even do such a thing. . . I felt like I was trapped and very unhappy with what I had become. . . This obsession was all consuming and I had no idea of how to get out of it. . . For those of you who might be able to relate, I had body dismorphia. It took years of counseling to get balance in my life while still appreciating the fitness lifestyle. . . What it taught me was how to have a lifestyle driven approach and be able to enjoy life as well! . I eventually went on to make a comeback in 2016 in a completely different class in physique called bikini…just to say that I did it again. . Remember, fitness is a lifestyle and not a destination.

1 year in review #transformationtuesday There is a phrase I like to use with clients called your True North which has to do with that sweet spot of 80/20 eating. (80% nutrient rich foods and 20% whatever you want) There is clearly a difference in this 1 year that I would call a "maintenance" year. The left photo I was really trying to get lean and was around 175 at 11% BF. Again I'm not entering any contests or in competition. But what's different is that I usually have yo-yo'd in weight every year throughout my 30s and 40s. The right side photo is after a challenging, job changing, facing new situations, seeking healthy emotional changes type of year. Usually saying all this would make me gain 20 lbs. Im up about 10lbs at 183 with 14% BF. But what transformed the most this year was sticking to my True North. I ate HARD during Superbowl, vacations and during special nights out. And then went back to nutrient rich, beneficial to "staying fit" foods. I sometimes went weeks without working out, but kept my food within a good window. I released myself from the all or nothing mentality and it proved to be the best year of my fitness life. Felt great, injuries we're minimal, emotionally and spiritually grew and was able to take that experience to coach and encourage others. I hope y'all are having a great Tuesday. My advice to you if you're on a weight loss journey or seeking to live a fit life is this: it's NEVER going to be a sprint. It's always going to be a marathon. Give yourself time. Give yourself grace. Love yourself and challenge yourself. You will never regret it. at Dallas, Texas

Now see his before after picture... It takes only 4 months, no shits, no short cuts only hardwork. Training twice a day 1 hours of weight training in morning and 45 montes of cardio and abs training in evening, sometimes he became faint but he wasn't stop his workout. People are always asking, “how much you bench bro”🤣 - Here are a couple key pointer to make sure you get the most out of the bench press. - 3️⃣Always maintain three points of contact. Feet on the ground, butt and shoulder blades touching the bench as well. You can even add a 4th and include your head keeping contact with the bench. - Having a slight arch in the lower back will also maximize your strength in the movement. - You’ll also want to keep a straight bar path. I used to be 287 lbs. - I had neglected my body for so long... working 16-18hrs a day for years, eating fast food and sugar, living off energy drinks, not sleeping enough if at all... - My body was inflamed. My energy and focus were dropping down everyday more and more. - The company had made it to the INC 500 Fastest Growing Companies in America for a couple years. Everything was working, even growing. But I wasn’t listening to the signs my body was trying to give me. - Eventually, I blew out my neck disks... The pain was so debilitating I couldn’t do half of the things I was doing for about 1 year. It took me 1 YEAR to understand things had to change. - When my body gave out on me I realized I couldn’t get CONSISTENT BIG RESULTS in business, in my personal relationships, in my spirituality if I was neglecting my body everyday. Feeding it trash. Not allowing it to rest. As an adult don’t you agree that it’s hard as shit to make friends? . I realized that my friends circle, like real friends you go out with like once every 1-2 weeks is kind of non existent. You have that friend that like you are able to make plans with other than your boyfriend, the person you live with. . Sometimes I get depressed and down, I mean only if I think about it. . Some people might say you don’t need friends in life, but I believe friends give your life meaning. . With friends you explore the world, you have new experiences, you gossip, you have belly laughs where your abs hurt, you have goodie nights and face masks. With friends you just have that special connection and I honestly believe we as humans crave that connection. A connection different from love, love that you give to a significant other. . WHY LOW CARB DIETS DON'T WORK (Keto fans, keep scrolling) ➡️⁣ ⁣ In a word, sustainability (or lack thereof). If I asked you to live the rest of your life without eating or enjoying a piece of bread, starchy potato, bowl of pasta, juicy piece of fruit or warm gooey chocolate chip cookie, what would you say?⁣ ⁣ 💬 No way in hell.⁣ 💬 You’re out of your mind.⁣ 💬 What’s even the point!?⁣ ⁣ And I’d agree with you! I can’t imagine a life without carbs. And the best news is, you don’t have to. Because, despite the high fat, low carb trend being recycled right now (yes, we’ve been here before…it didn’t work then either) here are a few reasons you should ditch your low carb diet ASAP and find a more lasting (and life-giving) nutrition strategy:⁣ ⁣ 🍓Carbohydrates are packed with nutrients & fiber. We benefit from eating more nutrients & fiber. Ergo, going out of our way to AVOID these things is not serving us 🍚Carbohydrates are not all created equal. Brown rice, quinoa & black beans will serve your body much better than Oreos, Poptarts & Gummy bears ever will. What’s that saying…don’t throw the baby out with the bath water!?⁣ 🥗Eating smart carbs at regular intervals throughout the day decreases late night sugar cravings. IE. More starchy vegetables, fruit & whole grains = less candy, ice cream & chocolate⁣ 🍠After engaging in deprivation (from chronic dieting) hunger hormones increase, fullness hormones decrease & metabolism decreases. Therefore, when you’re done with your diet you can expect to eat like a bear fresh out of hibernation, resulting in increased fat gain. Thank you, evolution.⁣ 🍞Muscles love carbohydrates (and protein). Starve your body of those things & you’ll likely lose muscle mass. Reduced muscle mass means reduced metabolic rate. Reduced metabolic rate means you need to eat less (and less and less) or you will gain more (and more and more).⁣ ⁣ If you’re looking to drop a few lbs, sure, cut back on the chips, candy & doughnuts. What is it that you really want out of your life?? Like REALLY WANT? . ✨Financial freedom? ✨Time freedom? ✨Travel when you want? ✨A good support system? ✨True friends? ✨A healthy body? . . Honestly I could keep going on and on, and these are things that I truly want, and have started attracting into my life. Financial freedom & travel are 2 biggies for me. 🌎 . . But the real question is what the heck is stopping you from having those things that you say you want? Probably something along these lines... . . 💥I don’t have the time to learn how to do that. 💥I dont have the money right now. 💥not right now, its the holidays. 💥I don’t think I can do it. 💥I don’t have any friends to share with. . . Seriously, why do we let fear control the dreams we want to achieve? 🤦🏽‍♀️ It doesn’t have to be that way. If you decide to have an open mind, become coachable, and take action... So happy to be free of potatoes! Keepin it simple! 💋 . . I can workout 5/6 days no problem but no matter how hard you work, nutrition is key. . I stick to basic meals. (Dinner is not shown) Plus I am a type of person who really doesn't enjoy cooking🥘 . . Few tips I stick with: * Have a protein source with each meal or snack. Shoot for around 20/25 grams of protein. This helps keep you full as well as keep your body in a fat burning state while preserving muscle. Protein will help curb cravings, help repair your muscles and help increase your caloric burn. So if you enjoy oatmeal for breakfast, add in some eggs/liquid eggs or a good quality protein shake or amazing tasting protein bar! Level 1 is my go to. - * Simple meals. If you are the type that cant eat chicken everyday, rotate other items in... lean ground turkey/hamburger, tuna, salmon, tilapia, yogurt, eggs, black beans etc. different green veggies 🥬 Use different spices to help flavor it up. Sugar free ketchup & spray butter is my go to. - * Don't go to the grocery store when you are hungry! Avoid buying junk. Avoid buying bad snacks you know you can’t resist at home. - * Track your food on an app. This can help see where you are eating too much of something or to low. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. - * Balance. Don't completely restrict yourself! Food is not the enemy, lack of self discipline is. Trust me I know it is hard and I too struggle with it. Eat good choices majority of the time and save extra calorie foods for once or twice per week not days. . . ✨ Hope some of these were helpful.
