The snap on the left was when I listened to all the 'standard' fitness industry advice: "Push harder, eat less, be leaner, take protein supplements, never touch anything with carbs or dairy and do a billion hours of cardio a week" This was about the time that my body decided to teach me the real things... the hard way. "Health" and "fitness" are not the same thing. Eating less than your basic daily energy needs for life is not healthy. Training 7 days a week without rest and inadequate nutrition with added fat burners is not healthy. These are forms of mechanical and chemical stress if taken to the extreme. The stress response of the human body (over an extended period without support and rest) results in suppressed immunity, high cortisol levels (= suppressed pituitary and thyroid gland function) and digestive distress. My point? Push sometimes, rest others. Listen. Smarten up. Be AWAKE. Learn what your body likes and needs even if it's nothing like the needs and likes of another body 💎

Why you should meal plan! I have grown into the habit of planning out my meals a week ahead. These are all my meals fitted into my daily macros! I actually use an app on my phone so I can track macros and always have my meal plan with me! This sounds like a lot of work but the benefits of meal planning are amazing! 1. Time: once you’ve created this habit, it will save you so much time. It makes grocery shopping easy ( no more wandering trough the aisles!) and I know what to prep for the next day 2. Health: It is easier to eat the right portions and I have meals based of nutritional value rather than letting my emotions lead me ( I would eat all the chocolate!) Nit having to decide what to eat right there and then also reduces the amount of stress I experience and we all know stress is bad for us right?! 3. Money: meal planning saves a ton of money, not only does it help with the reduce of food waists, you also don’t buy unnecessary food items that just go bad before you can use it! How perfect?! 🥑 💕 Avocados are my go-to food. Not only are they are YUMMY AF 😋 (let's just take a moment to thank the avo gods for the deliciousness) BUT also because they are an amazing source of fiber, potassium and healthy fats. Consuming enough of the right dietary fat is crucial for proper hormone function. Things like egg yolks, flaxseed, olive oil, avocados, nuts and seeds are the foundation of important hormones such as progesterone, DHEA, estrogen and cortisol. Good fats and cholesterol can speed up wound healing, improve skin clarity and even help fight free radicals and toxicities that lead to conditions such as psoriasis and acne. When cutting weight for a comp or shoot it is common for athletes to radically drop their fat intake, often only eating white fish + cucumber for weeks. Make sure you take time out to get healthy fats back in from time to time. Happy, healthy hormones 🥜🥑

PLANNING! 📆 Most days it’s my lifesaver and the only thing that keeps me in check. And then there comes a day where everything takes up way more time than I thought, chaos enters my mind and I basically want to just throw in the towel and not even attempt to stick to some of the planning I made. • Feeling like I have accomplished nothing today! ☠️ • On these moments I try to look at the facts and not at my feelings. Cause I wasn’t completely useless right?!: I put away 3(!) baskets of laundry🧦, crushed my workout💪🏻, got a awesome blender and managed to work for 5 hours😬. • All tasks that I usually schedule in when the kids are with their dad... and while my to-do list is forever growing. I did got my priorities straight today! • This mindset of looking at the facts of what you’re doing rather than the feeling it gives you, really helps put a positive swing on any situation. It’s not going to motivate me thinking about all the stuff I should have done... but looking at all the things I did do today, makes me feel a bit more of an actual functioning adult🎉 • What is one thing you plan?

Don't just look the other side. SUCCESS happens when YOU LEARN to BECOME AWARE OF YOUR OWN BULLSHIT. Today was my rest day but I forced myself to come to gym because tomorrow I would be busy during the opening hours of the gym. The truth is I felt absolutely depleted. I didn't sleep well last night since I ran out of pain meds. I told myself today is my rest day. It's okay if I don't go since I went yesterday. This was me beginning to find and make 1000 EXCUSES of why its okay not to go to gym today even though I knew it legitimately wouldn't be possible tomorrow. After the back and forth battle in my mind, I became aware that I was only Bullshitting myself! I was tired...yes! I had no energy.. yes! I didn't sleep well..yes! I had some pain..yes! But if someone asked "Arielle, if I gave you 1 million dollars now, would you go to the gym?" My answer would be Yes! Absolutely! So I reluctantly dragged myself out of my bed and came to gym. The truth is the 'idea of being healthy' is not that motivating. It doesn't make us jump out of bed and say YES TODAY IS GYM. The truth is when we think gym, we then think work, we think pain and who would that motivate!? No one! That's why you have to learn to become aware of your own bullshit. Once you become aware, the next step is to just show up! Show up and you will Show Out! Grow • Evolve • Win

I've spent almost 6 years navigating the intricacies of the disorder and trying to get to the bottom of it! 🕵🏼‍♀️ Countless Drs, approaches, methods + levels of healing 😅. I don’t like eating differently than what I’m serving the kids. Usually I eat exactly the same, unless it’s a fast food meal •Kids have been begging me for pancakes again, so this mom gave them store bought pancakes and found a recipe for pancakes with enough protein and little carbs to fit into my macros .... @eefshealth came through again! This recipe with pumpkin ( won’t taste like it at all!) was delicious! There were plenty of mornings where I couldn’t get out of bed or when I was, working out was a stretch. My joints hurt too bad. I learned that healing can be broken down as 80% diet 20% lifestyle. This picture is very meaningful to me, not because I am young and fairly fit either. This is a picture of personal success following failure. I decided to learn how to swim in the winter/spring of 2009, taking adult swimming lessons at the local Y. I had also just started getting into biking. I told my husband that one day we should try doing a triathlon. He thought this was a great idea but that we shouldn’t wait but push ourselves and do the local one that August. So we signed up. I was just getting comfortable with lap swimming. Unfortunately for the race, we had an out and back in the Missouri River on a windy day... with the chaos of a race and other racers! I only made half of the swim. Instead of being defeated, I signed up for another that September. Same river. Also an out and back. And this picture is of me running up the beach after finishing the swim! Success truly is getting back up after you fall. You have to keep moving forward. You are your only competition in this life, just to be better than you were yesterday. But also remember that every day is not going to be your best day, but you will wake up tomorrow and it is up to you to try again. No one but you can motivate you. No clever cliche or photoshopped picture will change you, BUT you CAN change you. TRUST my friends. Trust that the universe is making everything happen and come your way in it's perfectly timed way. Yes this is true but ALSO... 2. WORK!!! We have to also work for it! It doesn't just always fall into our laps. Wish I could say that's how it happens but nope, it takes showing up and working hard (really hard). I show up as much as I can. It takes a lot of courage, energy, positivity and optimism. It takes an open mind and perseverance. It takes PATIENCE. Today was a fun day to put down my laptop and just film a fun project I'm working on with @mindbodygreen. It felt good to be out of the office for a day, to just move and do something a bit more creative. Sometimes we have to press pause to find that energy to go again and to also give yourself a pat on the back for all the hard work you do. Thank you yoga and the outdoors (in my freaking backyard! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼) for allowing me to just find a little time for me. Guys. GUYS. I ran a sub-50-minute #10K!!! I can't say for sure I've never done that because maybe I did while I was training my little heart out and running my fastest - I was always so focused on those longer distances. 🏃 But tonight I told myself since my glutes were so sore and my knees were so uncertain that I would just run a "forever pace." I almost fell over when my phone announced I'd run my first mile in less than 8 minutes, since everything felt so chill. And it just stayed that way. Never once stopped to catch my breath, adjust my phone, anything. Just ran. I feel so incredible right now. 😁 at Tempe Town Lake

#latergram: Shout out to all my girls who love #legday! 💪I was super distracted trying to figure out my new fitness tracker, but forced myself to buckle down and concentrate. I realize half the battle working without Terry is not letting myself off the hook, if I'm tired after 75 jump squats but I set out to do 100. Despite the fatigue, the soreness, the lactic acid build up, I still need to complete all 100 jump squats. It's so easy to just let yourself slide when tore alone, but that trainer keeps you on track. Now I'm forcing myself to be mentally tough and complete everything I set out to do. And last night was a killer. Especially now that I found my favorite machine from Terry's (the "gravity" leg press, I call it) at #PlanetFitness. Stronger legs, coming right up! at Planet Fitness

Do you enjoy side by sides and make them yourself? • Left is from August 2015 when I did #bbg to lose that stubborn pregnancy weight. On the right last week. It’s amazing how much my body composition has changed! • Most of all my mindset has changed. In 2015 I wanted to lose weight from a place of hate. I didn’t like the way I looked at all! Now I can actually say I want to get healthier from a place of love. I’m so proud of myself for every PR I set, for every time I sleep more than 8hours ect. It’s like now I can finally be happy for every progress I do make rather than upset for not making enough progress for my own liking! at Noord-Beveland

Take the time to listen. That hormonal acne can be resolved by analyzing your diet rather than ingesting a pill to cover up its symptoms. . ❣️There are no quick fixes and there's more to life than dieting. By restricting foods and calories - you are actually tricking your body into thinking it isn't going to get fed anytime soon which is causing it to hold onto body fat. . ❣️Nothing in life is perfect - so stop trying to control what cannot be controlled. You'll be much more relaxed and happier this way - I promise. . ❣️Be confident with who you are. Counting macros isn't for everyone, but it is a great tool if you are looking to understand the basics of nutrition as well as understand portion sizes. You know, when I worked out with Terry, I hated absolutely everything about these sliders. They made me get, but it also meant they made me improve, so I knew that while I had plenty of machines at my disposal at @planetfitness, I was going to need to order myself a set to really make sure I could continue to punish - I mean, push - myself. They finally arrived today, so I decided to scratch my usual Sunday Runday, for a quick bike ride over to the gym. Holy hell, I gave myself quite the ab workout! Gonna need to work on these a bit - my feet kept sliding off, but I'm sure ill get the hang of it. In the meantime, 💪💪💪 another workout stronger. Bring on the week!! at Planet Fitness

I might look composed on these videos but I was a hot mess doing it 🙈 It’s 3 rounds for time so you want to be completing it as fast as you can and take as little rest as possible. I had to break during the second round cause I couldn’t actually see straight 🤷‍♀️ I can’t remember my time but it was between 20-25 mins. Let me know if you try it! #latergram: 4.4-mile #sunset run with my love yesterday, to get the weekend started. I was all set for a post-work nap when he asked if I wanted to go. It's hard to say no to an activity when the inactivity you were planning on was already making you feel guilty. Took it really slow, still managed sub-9'00" pace, and he had a strong run, too. 👌 I weighed myself this morning - turns out I'm down 4 pounds!! Really hoping that's fat and not muscle mass. 🙏 Might have to lay off the trail mix just in case. 😂 at Papago Park

Oh I do love the sunshine ☀️Heavy bench today, 5x2 @ 52.5kg (85%), some speed dead’s @ 85kg (60%), still switching between conventional and sumo, sumo twinged my hip flexor so squats (box & front 5x5) after this had to be super narrow 😳 Finished off with a 10min AMRAP in the sunshine ☀️ 5 x push press @ 30kg 10 x squats 30 x double unders Despite Oakley, the dog and Next delivery man interrupting me, I completed 4rds 28 reps 💪🏼💦🏋🏼‍♀️ Quick dog walk with 👶🏼 to the park, where I ended up doing cardio chasing him around 😂 Now it’s time to get ready for a much anticipated Nando’s 🐔 for @kayleigh255 birthday 🙌🏼 Happy Saturday ✌🏼☀️
