One of THE best parts about working in the fitness industry is the connections and relationships you make with like minded individuals. * * One of my favourite places and times of my career was working at Fitness First George Street. We had an EPIC team; great friendships were forged and potential exploded (oh and it’s where I met and fell in love with my now husband awww @mikecampbellmc 😘) * * Nothing makes me happier then seeing great people doing great things in the world, and this badass woman is doing exactly that. * * If you’re into fitness she won’t need an intro, but if you don’t know @hattieboydle, world WBFF champion you need to. * * Hattie is smart, real, packs a mean twerk, and can lift some heavy shit. She is also one of the most focussed, hard workers/trainers around - hence world champ status. * * In these situations I’m reminded of the powerful quote “Empowered women empower others.” * * Today both of us were the students as we watched @uberhealth (Kira Sutherland) and @larabriden drops all the knowledge bombs regarding women and why they aren’t simply small men with breasts (check out these 2 remarkable women too!!) * * An awesome day of learning and catch ups .... my heart and brain is full 💜🙏🏽💜🙏🏽💜🙏🏽 at Gold Coast, Queensland

Legit, totally for real: body aches, headaches, temperature, very swollen throat and glands ill... 😭😭😭 . Also, I'm not up for lame pity parties but I legit cried, (maybe a few times) because I'm solo parenting for a couple of weeks and OMG that shit is hard (no gym time is insult to injury).. without being knocked down with this arsehole of a bug.... . It's also a highly emotional weekend with a bereavement anniversary.... . AND the kids are being.... them! Which right now feels like the loudest, most unruly, demanding creatures in the world and I genuinely feel like I've fallen off the scale from AWESOME, slap bang on my face somewhere in the middle of my parenting nightmare! . Being sick is crap enough... being a usually thriving MUM, AND being sick, so having to cook, wash and iron uniform and get homework and classes done, is torture. So your best vibes and energies are desperately needed in our little corner of London so I can go back to... you know... being a badass mamma again! . . . Really, REALLY hoping you're having a MUCH better weekend than me!!! . . P.S. if you're not, I'll send you my good vibes because jeez... this literally just reminded me - us mums work so bloody hard! Throwback! Just a reminder for you all that your progress should not be defined by the number on the scales! . These 2 photos were taken 3 months apart. During the 3 months I was frustrated! I ate well, had a very active job & went to the gym 6 times a week but yet the wasn't any major difference on the scales. I was weight training at the time with my PT so I just did as he said (well sometimes 😂) but felt like I was getting nowhere as the number on the scales wasn't moving!! . • Mirror neurones • . . After yesterday’s post I had a few messages asking me for examples of ways to train the mind, so I thought I would spend the next few posts talking about this. First up is one of my favourites... . . Mirror neurones are specific neurones in the brain that fire whether we are performing an action or watching someone else perform it i.e. the same area of the brain lights up whether we are smiling, or watching someone smile. Since the same brain area is activated, we will have the internal experience of the action even if we are not doing it i.e. when we see a smile we feel the same internal state as if we were smiling. We are also more likely to copy the action ourselves; mirror neurones are the reason we instinctively smile when others smile, yawn when others yawn, and often take on other people’s body language and accents. . . Mirror neurones are crucial to our social world and explain much of how children learn; helping them develop movement, language, and empathy. But, whilst these neurones might be incredibly helpful for learning, they can also make us vulnerable to other people’s negative emotions. We often respond to anger with anger and can be dragged down by another person’s bad mood. There is evidence that watching violence on TV leads to imitative violence, and this is thought to be due to mirror neurones. . . So how can we use these neurones to help us train the brain? Well ‘neurones that fire together wire together’ and since mirror neurones fire whether we are doing the action or watching it we can start to build more positive and helpful pathways in the brain simply by watching others. If you want to feel happier, softer, calmer, grateful, peaceful, or positive spend time with people that have those traits and you will start to pick them up. . . Who you spend time with matters, so surround yourself with people that have the traits you want, and limit time with people that have the traits you don’t. . . Walking lunges 💪🏼 - This is yet another variation to the lunge. You have your stand still lunge, lunge with one leg on a bench, and the walking lunge which I think is the hardest one of the three. - If you have never done these before I would suggest to start off with no weight in order to learn how to balance yourself throughout the exercise. Once you get that down start to add 10 or 15lbs and work your way up. I personally like to take 8 steps in both directions but it really is up to you whether you want a shorter or much longer distance. - This is a great exercise to add to your leg day since it hits the majority of your lower body muscles including glutes,hamstrings, and quads💪🏼.
