ORGANIC vs NON-ORGANIC. To be honest, this topic truly overwhelmed me when I chose to treat my autoimmune disease holistically. It was more expensive & I couldn't afford to get everything organic, especially w/ growing naturopath & supplement bills (thx4nuthin insurance). The Environmental Working Group has a list designating what fruits/veggies are not as heavily sprayed - these are known as the clean 15. Produce heavily sprayed that should be bought organic are known as the dirty dozen. If you can’t afford organic everything, making an informed decision to choose organic for some items will still help further your health. - Why organic? Over 3,000 high-risk toxins are banned from being used on certified organic products. Organophosphates, pesticides & farming chemicals wreak havoc on our endocrine system, congesting the liver & confusing the hormonal conversation our bodies need to achieve balance & prevent disease. They are linked to causing ADHD, cancer, disrupted hormone function, behavioral problems, neurological disorders, autism, infertility, asthma, allergies, birth defects & digestive problems. - Certified organic also means there is no irradiation (food is exposed to high levels of radiation, breaking down its nutrients & creating free radicals that you, in turn, consume), no GMOS, no human sewage sludge & no synthetic fertilizers or prohibited pesticides. Can you believe that this “coffee” is mainly just adaptogenic mushrooms?! 🌿 Coffee has always helped soothe me mentally, but the physical effects of stomach cramping and indigestion was just not worth it 🙅🏻 • I have been trying to find coffee alternatives and I finally found one that I love!! For all the other Caregivers out there, whether you are caring for someone battling cancer or even a young one with an upset tummy- I swear by this recipe. It helps to soothe an upset stomach, hydrates, is super healthy & helps promote healing. I made a huge pot of this homemade ginger syrup yesterday (got a fantastic ginger facial as a side benefit😉). Slices of ginger - about 4 cups to 6 cups of water, a touch of organic honey, a dash of cinnamon. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat & simmer until you get about 2 cups of pure ginger syrup. Strain & add to some soda water with some lemon juice. For extra hydration, add a splash of coconut water. I swear - this is the best gingerale you'll ever have. Good evening! 🌙 Dinner tonight was some rice, mixed veggies, and teriyaki grilled tofu. • To prove to my parents that I was improving, I ended up eating a lot yesterday, including a whole pint of Halo Top ice cream (which was amazing), but today I started feeling terrible and regretting everything. I was disgusted by all the food I tried to eat today. 😔 I'm meeting with a nutritionist tomorrow to help me sort things out and hopefully it will be a better day.

🍁 Sweet Potato Bread! 🍁 . Such a fall satisfying alternative to the classic banana bread. Recipe from @frommybowl who makes such easy, delicious, & nutritious vegan food. Ingredients: 2 tbsp Ground Flax + 6 tbsp Water 2 1/2 cup Oats, ground into flour 2 tsp Baking Powder 2 tsp Cinnamon 1/2 tsp Salt 1/4 tsp Nutmeg (optional) 1 1/2 cup Mashed Sweet Potato Puree 1/2 cup Coconut Sugar 1/2 cup Unsweetened Plant Based Milk 1 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar 1 tsp Vanilla Extract 1/4 cup Almond Butter . . First, preheat your oven to 350F. In a small bowl, combine 2 tbsp of Ground Flax with 6 tbsp of Water to form an "egg." Set Aside. Second, combine all dry ingredients in a medium bowl and stir well. In a large bowl, combine the Sweet Potato Mash, Almond Butter, Plant Milk, Flax Egg, Coconut Sugar, Vanilla Extract, and Apple Cider Vinegar. Mix until everything is well incorporated, then add in the dry ingredients. Gently stir until well combined. Pour the batter into a greased or lined loaf pan, then bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out cleanly. Let sit in the loaf for 10 minutes, then let cool completely on a baking rack before slicing. Store any leftovers at room temperature in a sealed container for up to 7 days. 😄🍃🍁🍂 at Green Lake, Seattle

Sunday soup!💛 bone broth, veggies and chicken! All organic and supports good gut health! If only it was cooler outside!🤣 ..and in supporting my gut i dumped @wildbrine double fermented sriracha on top! . .... Whats up with fermented foods?? Why do i eat them....all the time? Fermented foods, like sauerkraut and kombocha, have tons of good bacteria in them that help our bodies absorb nutrients and keep our microbiome balanced. An unbalanced microbiome causes gut distress... and opens the door for autoimmine disease, allergies, anxiety and depression. YEARS AGO (13!) , my microbiome was bad and then destroyed ! L O N G story short, out of the blue i became severly sick. I was having problems breathing and ended up in the hospital for 17 days and out of work for 9 months!! After MONTHS of being on hard core antibiotics and other prescription drugs i ended up with the worst gut/digestion issues!! And even more, every time i went to the dr and complained about my problems... i got another script.😣 it was a vicious cylcle, and i was miserable!! (13 scripts people!!) Sure, my lungs were better, i was diagnosed with sarcoidosis. (An autoimmune disease that produces lesions on your organs, usually on your lungs) but my overall health was horrible. It was a long road to recovery. Im the healthiest now and so passionate about helping others live their best healthiest life. Btw.... prescription free💜 And now you know.... that started my journey to where i am now! Short short version of what i went through, i couldn't work, couldn't leave my bed. I thought... daily, that i was on my death bed. But, im here. OK people let's start to really understand this thing called life. Your life is only important to you because its your life. You have to learn that losing fat is way more important then losing weight on the scale. Its so sad people focus so much on the scale and lose sight of the main goal and that's to drop body fat % not weight. Truth be told you can lose weight on the scale but gain body fat % so how did you achieve your goal in that process. You did not because you gain more fat. So stop doing it wrong. Stop being a follower of the wrong nutrition programs and trying all these crazy diets and go get true education. Learn your body and just start doing the right things. Finally got this book off amazon I had read about on instagram and its great! In a nut shell its all about how to heal your mind and body with fruit and vegetables. We kind of live in a culture of high stress levels, smoking, drinking, eating crap and then we go to the doctors for pills when we feel shit mentally and physically. I am still baffled people drink a ton load of bòoze and wonder why they are knackered every day. Or see smoking weed as normal as brushing their teeth, but dont make the connection that its making them depressed and anxious AF! Or get every cold and flu that is going round, but still dont think that increasing their fruit and vege intake might help? The list goes on but you get my point... Nobody is perfect and I am certainly not! But what this book highlights to me is that we could all do with some self care. We can do so much to heal ourselves mentally and physically first without going to the doctors. I have had a huge improvement in my PTSD and insomnia through diet, exercise and therapy, and no anti depressents. Looking at our diet and exercise levels first when we are feeling shit can be life changing ( has been for me anyway ) and sorry if this reads like a rant ☺😂 The strange looking mixture is a smoothie I make that gives me a load of energy, and a go to when I feel shit! 😀 contains banana, almond milk, honey, spinach, parsley, turmeric, avocado, blueberries, rasberries, pumpkin seeds 😍 I also change up my fruit and vege consumption depending on my budget. Lets face it not many people can afford Acai powder and god knows what else powders every day in their diets. Do what you can!
