Last Monday of my school year!!!🎉 And today I start it off with this! I baked my bacon at 350° for about 30 min....then set the bacon on paper towels and tossed my kale onto the bacon greased pan! Sprinkle of salt & garlic powder and back into the oven for about 10 min. Kale and bacon done - all while I got ready for work! ✅ . Eggs in cast iron with ghee and here ya go! Monday breakfast 🍳 . Simple Saturday night dinner. Chicken thighs with @primalpalate Jerk Seasoning sprinkled allll over them! And some broccoli crumbles cooked in ghee, salt, pepper and garlic powder 😋 That’s it. Simple paleo eats ....delicious and nutritious! Dinner is served on a sizzling day in #miramichi ☀️ 🌊 and after a day at the beach we kept it simple. Still enjoying the bounty of greens beneficial for spring since it technically is still spring season here : asparagus and broccoli worked quite nicely. However with this heat and the energy of fire building, we were conscious to balance out with some cooling options for the effects of summer : multicoloured potatoes and cucumbers along with roasted 5 bean medley. Keeping ourselves cool 😎 as cucumbers 🥒 tonight, and it’s Saturday so there’s a cool glass of Pinot Grigio just to be sure 👌

Dinner so simple. Fish and roasted brussel sprouts! I quickly cooked the fish in my cast iron with ghee, salt, pepper and garlic ...along with a little cayenne - and yes, it was goooood! I honestly have nooooo idea what kind of fish it was. It’s white. I bought some and individually froze them, without labeling 🤷🏻‍♀️ It was good though! Take 'em home, toss 'em in some avocado oil, sprinkle with garlic salt, pepper and maybe some dried thyme or whatever herbs you prefer, and roast at 425 for 25-30 minutes. I tend to get a lot of questions about how to get in more veggies and/or greens! Welp. Here you go! Add them to your breakfast!! 🍳 . I get that it might be hard to get veggies into your lunch if you’re at work & get lunch out but breakfast and dinner can totally make up for it! . I usually bring leftovers to work for lunch so my veggies/greens are typically in every meal. If you can’t do that (or don’t want to...) take along some veggie type snacks foods to munch on at your desk. Or when out for lunch, order a side of broccoli instead of fries with that burger 🍔 I know - not quite as fun but you’ll feel better about that decision later! . In addition to those thoughts, sprinkle in some veggies into your ground beef when making tacos or add some spinach to your cauliflower rice ....you’ll get veggies and greens in the same side dish! . And that’s essentially what I did here. I added cabbage slaw to spinach so I’m getting a little more bang for my buck! On the side of that is @buyranchdirect beef and sunny sides! ☀️ . Can we talk about food for a minute friend? Nutrition seems to be something that many people struggle with and I want to help you today. A few days ago I talked about changing your lens and I am working on doing this with how I view food. I invite you to do the same with me. If I asked you what the purpose of food is how would you answer that question? My answer would be it is to fuel our bodies and to provide the nourishment that it needs. Do you agree? As I examined my own eating habits what I found is that these habits are impacted by being social or trying to meet an emotional need. I enjoy finding new recipes and cooking for others so it can be challenging for me to stay focused on what I believe is the purpose of food. I have also realized that when I try to use food to meet an emotional need it never works. It only makes me feel worse and keeps me from dealing with those emotions. Many companies have done a wonderful job with marketing their products to make us think they will meet some type of need in our lives. The truth is that if we look at many of these products on the grocery store shelves they are not serving the true purpose of food. I do not believe in going to extremes so, yes, I will eat chips, cupcakes, etc in moderation. Can we talk about food for a minute friend? Nutrition seems to be something that many people struggle with and I want to help you today. A few days ago I talked about changing your lens and I am working on doing this with how I view food. I invite you to do the same with me. If I asked you what the purpose of food is how would you answer that question? My answer would be it is to fuel our bodies and to provide the nourishment that it needs. Do you agree? As I examined my own eating habits what I found is that these habits are impacted by being social or trying to meet an emotional need. I enjoy finding new recipes and cooking for others so it can be challenging for me to stay focused on what I believe is the purpose of food. I have also realized that when I try to use food to meet an emotional need it never works. It only makes me feel worse and keeps me from dealing with those emotions. Many companies have done a wonderful job with marketing their products to make us think they will meet some type of need in our lives. my friends at Mighty Spark ⚡️ saw a photo of me that I shared that was taken at a local shelter while I was giving back. I was wearing a hat they had gifted me prior to their rebrand so they sent me out some new gear and some of their original sea salt and pepper snack sticks 👌🏻 I love their brand, mission, and product. It’s been a lonnnnng while since I’ve made a green juice and/or smoothie! My daughter shared a smoothie she loved ...it sounded so good so I had to give it a try! I made a couple of very small changes and loved loved loved it!!! This will be a go-to for quick breakfasts...or in the summer months, for a delish treat! 💚🌱🥒 . What you see at a glance is a girl looking at this cup of tea as her delicious treat for the evening. The reality is that about 10 minutes before I really was thinking about chocolate... and even though I still endulge in sweet treats, I have also learned to eat and fuel my body for a purpose. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle doesn’t always mean a drastic lifestyle change. It’s actually more about incorporating a few common sense behaviors, to help create a healthy, sustainable relationship with food. 💚Make a goal and get it on your calendar. I mean a REAL goal with a date in mind! If you simply say “I want to lose 10 pounds” but have the temptation of donuts in the break room it’s easier for you to say “I can have one and I’ll still get there, EVENTUALLY” Setting dates for your goals help you stay on track when temptations and cravings hit. 💚Have a realistic plan. Sometimes having too ambitious guidelines can lead to failures, such as “I am going to meal prep and prepare every meal and stop eating out ALL THE TIME”. It’s admirable, but when you’re feeling hungry and overwhelmed or things don’t go to plan it’s great to learn the tools to help you stick to your goal of eating healthfully. Because some nights I simply don’t have the energy to prep a full meal and I have a super food shake for a back up OR I have knowledge to help me eat take out or when I’m at events, whatever the situation I’m in. Because life is NEVER consistent. 💚STAY ACCOUNTABLE. This has truly been a game changer for me! 🙌🏼 Accountability is everything because in those moments of weakness (like me dreaming of that candy bar) you’ll want a reminder of how important it is to stay on track. Accountability can come in many forms. A great way to take the first step is finding that support whether it’s a friend, spouse, parent, coworker, etc. That is why I have committed to helping other make a lifestyle change and get results by supporting them to stay committed to their goals. Simple food. Quick and easy meal - spaghetti squash, @buyranchdirect chorizo, brussel shavings & @raoshomemade pasta sauce🍝 . I clean on Thursday nights. My hubby works and I just like to get it done so my weekend is free! So a quick and easy meal (clean up too!), is a must! And this is what came together. It helps when you have protein prepped ahead 🙌🏼 .
