Eagle pose! What a deep, intentional, grounding pose to stay connected to the Earth. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Come to Tabletop, with your hands under your shoulders, knees under your hips, and tops of your feet against the mat. Slide your right knee left until both knees’ inner edges touch (both are still on the ground). Wrap your left leg around and atop your right leg so your knees line up; slide your feet away from each other, slightly wider than your hips. If your inner thighs protrude forward, use your hands to rotate them behind you. Gradually lower your hips to the floor, to seated, with hips between legs. You can place a prop under your buttocks to support your hips. Bring your arms in front of you, bent to 90 degrees. Swing your left arm beneath the right, and spiral your right hand and forearm around the left until your hands touch in Eagle Pose arms.⠀ Breathe. Release. Sometimes it’s hard to see what path lies ahead. When we ground ourselves, sinking a little deeper into the present, keeping our gaze steady to what’s right in front of us instead of craning our neck wildly from side to side to see what’s around the corner, we find peace and balance and a deep sense of stability. Day 14: Process✨ The past few days I’ve been experiencing the effects of all that’s been going on. We know that our external world can translate to internal issues in the physical body, as well as the emotional body. I have felt muscle tension and headaches, followed by stomach cramps and just feeling withdrawn. I could physically feel all of the energy tightly wound in my body. And while scrolling Facebook in bed yesterday afternoon and thinking how I needed to get up and move I came across @sacredorgasmicdance Live Facebook event. So......I danced. Suddenly I had no more stomach pain and was able to go about my day. Later @chefmichaelallen got home and we shared and decompressed about our days and how everything has felt lately and then a song came on. So......we danced. We sang loudly and laughed and moved and two hours later I climbed in bed, feet tired, and drifted off to sleep with a smile. O poder da GARUDÁSANA é a força do animal Águia. Na yoga trabalhamos com a postura de braços entrelaçados e pernas opostas cruzadas. Essa postura nos faz lembrar da força interna que temos desse animal poderoso. A rainha dos céus, a rainha das aves. Na cultura celta essa ave representa renascimento e renovação. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ O único animal que consegue olhar diretamente para o sol e que diante uma tempestade não se esconde e nem tenta enfrentá-la, mas voa acima dela. Fiel a uma única companheira. Nunca anda em bando. Seu vôo é solitário e corajoso. Quando envelhece (chegando aos 40 anos) seu bico não consegue mais segurar a presa, suas garras ficam fracas, suas penas velhas e pesadas. Então, ela só tem dois caminhos: se deixa morrer ou renova-se em um processo doloroso de 5 meses onde ela voa para o alto de um ninho e passa por muita dor, frio e fome. Mas ela só consegue sair de lá se voar de novo. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Então, durante esse período, bate seu bico em uma pedra até arracanca-lo e espera nascer um novo. Arranca suas unhas velhas e espera nascerem novas. Arranca suas penas velhas com seu bico novo e espera nascer novas. TRAPPED | There’s this thing about being tied up. Imagine that there’s no way you can get out on your own — the more you try to force your way out, the more you feel powerless. The more you suffer. • But there’s another option (not quite easier tho): to accept what is and surrender. And once you surrender, suddenly suffering disappears... suddenly the form disappears. You melt within yourself. Even if your physicality is still compressed, your mind is free. You’re resting. You’re healing. • To accept and surrender is hard, it’s scary. Because when you think about it... there’s nothing you *really* have full control over — except for how you react to what happens to you. Day10 of #21daylockdownchallenge Twister challenge, anyone? Eagle pose (Garudasana) ties you up in knots also losens up your mind. Even if you feel closed in this pose, it is good for opening your body. It stretches and broadens the area between the shoulder blades, releasing upper-back tension. It also stretches your shoulders, ankles, hips, and wrists and strengthens the legs. It increases breathing capacity and is thus beneficial for those with asthma. Slightly bend your knees, lift your right leg balancing the body on the left leg. Place the right thigh over the left. Wrap the shin of your right leg around the calf of the left leg. Hook the top of the right foot in the lower left calf. Raise the arms in front facing upward. Bend the elbows making the forearms perpendicular to the floor. Wrap one forearm around and under the other forearm. Keep the spine erect. Hold the pose for 20 seconds taking deep breaths. Whatever your story is… … we all have one common union, that’s our breath…It is our universal language. It’s so easy to practice being peaceful when everything in life is going exactly as we planned…..when our vacation goes as planned, our parties that we have planned with friends are amazing, and you are wearing that special outfit that you’ve been looking forward to wearing… counting down the days looking forward to that wedding, or graduation ….but now none of that might be happening….. If you have been practicing yoga for years or you are a beginner, We can choose to look at this time as our own spiritual boot camp…. We are in very unusual times; this is true yoga practice…. can we keep our peace…can we adapt? Can we be fluid, can we adjust? Can we modify? Can we be ok with not being ok? This is what we all have been practicing for……This time period might be the toughest class we can ever take. Are we surrendering and accepting?….We can think of this time as that challenging time, when we took that yoga class or went through a really rough journey where it kicked our butt, but we evolved, we became stronger…it made us come back, and the next time we tried that class, we might have found it to be challenging or difficult, or maybe it wasn’t as bad as we thought…..it made us evolve….perhaps the next time we took that class, we were much better at it, or maybe not but, we really didn’t care, because we learned how to tap into our confidence and strength, We found our inner power. We were ok with being challenged. We all grow from discomfort, we grow from those times in our lives where we had difficulties, where we had to adapt and learn new skills and get out of our comfort zone…You are who you are because of those times, and those events were your life classes to make you the magnificent YOU that YOU are today. 🤗 Each one of us here is part of history that generations will be talking about for years to come…. You are a very important part of this evolution……. you can fight it, or you can become a master at it….Each one us are important contributors to this evolution. We are all evolving trust the journey! peace. serenity. calm... before the storm. the lockdowns came out of nowhere in other countries and the shutting of tuition centres, clubs and then gyms felt like a sudden step too. some will say they anticipated it. i did not. i just stayed in a bubble of joy, practising daily. but not really practising enough either #realtalk - which is why i’m back to a fear of doing online yoga classes. a fear of realising how far i’ve fallen. trying to take small steps to it and hopefully today i’ll be able to take a class and do it properly.

When practicing eagle, aside from the obvious of improvement of balance, you’re strengthening and stretching your ankles, and calves and also stretching your thighs, hips shoulders and upper back. On a mental level, you’re improving concentration—because let me tell you, it definitely takes some concentration to remain still and hold in the posture while staying balanced. ***if you would like instruction on how to get into this pose correctly and the proper form (to keep from injury), lmk! 💛

Even if we didn’t take it for granted before, We will never look at the world the same. 🌎 My lovely friend @livionara_liu tagged me to share a photo from before, one of yoga outside when we could still do so. I chose to share a photo from my very first yoga shoot, years ago. It was one of the first times that I met @catherinebyrdy and the shoot was a comedy of errors from the start (including one of my shoes being swept away with the tide)...but the photos are some of my favourite and will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤️❤️❤️ . Also, does anyone else remember these amazing ombré tights by @flexilexi_fitness ?! I still have mine because they were the first “fancy” yoga tights that I ever purchased, back when IG yoga was just becoming a thing.🤣 . I have always loved taking my yoga practice outside, and it is something that I miss dearly. Luckily, yoga can be practiced absolutely anywhere.🙏🙌 . Please, stop. Don't try to distract Your eyes with external pictures nor Your ears with external noises. It's already enough. Stop making Yourself blind and deaf to what really matters. When was the last time You truly and deeply met Yourself? When did You stopped and listened? Now turn Your attention to Yourself. Listen what does Your heart wants. What does Your mind needs. What does Your body asks. What they are trying to tell you? What they are lacking? Weren't they showing all of that to You every day? You just didn't listen. Tried to avoid that in any possible way so You wouldn't have to look at Yourself and be true to Yourself. You betrayed, hurt and violated Yourself too many times that life couldn't respond differently to You but only increase all pain and suffering You created or were holding on to. It tried to lead You towards Your True Self but You stubbornly were resisting until You couldn’t escape anymore from Yourself and Your suffocating pain. It’s time to change that. Stop running away from Yourself, stop and face everything. Enough selling Yourself for lies and comparing Yourself to superficial people with fake values. Enough of trying to hide internal chaos in external one. Don't deny Your weaknesses, Your pain, Your vulnerability. Enough of wasting Your gifts either, ignoring them and decreasing Your worth. Cherish each part of Yourself whether it's bleeding or shinning right now. All of them, because it made You who You are. Listen and look at each of it lovingly. Give up on running from what's unpleasant and start accepting. Start growing Your strength and healing what's needed. Step by step, gently and patiently. Nothing to be hated but to learn from, be grateful and let go. Let go all parts of Yourself that doesn't serve You anymore and replace them with better ones. It may feel like a thousand years of work, but inner alchemy takes courage and time. Don’t close Your eyes for what You’ll see within, but use it as a material to create something better, create better Yourself. This won't be easy and it will probably hurt.
