Got my workout in this morning. 82 days until my first Spartan Race! If you are interested in joining us let me know. I know in this cold I would have never gotten to the gym-my car was literally sheeted in ice and frozen to my driveway. Good thing I can get my workout in at home by just pressing play. As luck would have it the current program I am doing leads me right up to my race-total coincidence. 30 minutes a day and of course I will be adding in some other training for my race. After my double ✌🏻hernia surgery (because they missed it the first time) I was feeling really down about myself and never thought I would get back to where I was physically 5 years ago. My daughter told me about this place and I thought what the heck 🤔 I have nothing to lose 🤷🏼‍♂️and everything to gain. After doing three months of Koyabell I feel like I’m 35 again!! My core is strong 💪🏻, I have tons of energy and I’m even working on my flexibility. Now that I’m retired I have no excuse to keep this routine going. Like the coaches always say “Swing a damn bell”. 1h 3x a week is all you need. Reminder 1 hour is only 4% of your day. Shapes coming in. Let's talk about identity for a lil moment here. I have always considered myself to be someone who has a good sense of self identity. I believe I know who I am and what I like. Recently, I've been struggling with my identity. Whether it be pressure from school, some external factor, or many internal factors, I just haven't felt like myself. I think that no matter how well we know ourselves, it is still very easy to lose sight of who we are. It is so so important to take a step back when we are feeling lost and realize why we are where we are. Sometimes your inner flame can get blown out, but that doesn't mean it can't be re-lit. This past weekend was an incredible experience that pushed my limits - and is something I would never have dreamed of a few years ago. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Snowboarding took everything I had - endurance, fitness, determination, balance, patience, resilience, and more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Falling, something I did plenty of, requires you to get back up - otherwise you won’t go anywhere. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I went from falling every few feet, to making it the entire way down a green slope without busting my butt - twice. Not to mention I had three solid dismounts from the full size ski lift without biting it by the end (not the bunny lift pictured!). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In three days I saw progress. It was something that only happened because I worked hard. I ended up with a constellation of bruises and a literal pain in my ass, but it was so worth it to do something I’d only ever dreamed of and prove to myself how far I’ve come. Been hitting the gym pretty hard for the past 2 weeks (actually since December but I took a week and a half off for the holidays). Adopted two strength training circuits and upped my protein intake; I also started running again and doing more upper body workouts so I can be proportionate (I'm literally getting stronger by the day). My posture has improved tremendously since I started waist training a month ago, but my stability/balance still needs work. TBH, I actually don't do much ab work at all. Maybe I should start 🤔 I kinda like my lil bit of pudge..... Idk if I wanna trade that for rock hard abs. I'll let y'all know, tho. Posting this as a follow up from my last fitness update. Do you ever catch yourself thinking, "If I could just be like her, things would be so much better....." Can I just say that's a load of malarkey? We all have our faults, our strengths, and our starting points. And we usually only show the strengths and the finish line. Not this girl. • Today, we started a new race. Specifically, a 2-week shake challenge and sugar fast, but it's so much more than that. It's a new start, a fresh start. Giving up some things, adding in others. We're doing it as a family. My favorite way. ♡ • So why am I posting before pics with no afters? (Swipe to see!) Because I want to encourage you to embrace your beginning. My beginning looks different than yours. My body is what it is. It's been through a lot, some things being irreparable. Other things will take a lot of consistent work to hopefully fix or at least make stronger. I also 1000% believe in what we do - in Plexus, in exercise, in eating healthy. And in 2 weeks, I'll be better than where I am now. And in 6 weeks, I'll be even better. And in 2020, well, I'll be freaking awesome. 💪🙅‍♀️🤣💋

I literally had to ask myself WHY I was doing this to myself every damn day. If you knew me in college or have followed me for a while, you know that I was #shredded a couple years ago. Was I confident? Kind of. Did being shredded MAKE me confident? Not really, no. • Honestly, being that shredded caused me MORE STRESS. My entire brain was fixated on staying that way. Day & night. 24/7. Mentally & physically- it was EXHAUSTING. • It’s cliche AF but it all comes down to significance & validation. • We often helplessly & hopelessly grasp on to these notions as the raw materials for building a sense of confidence. • But what is confidence? • I like to think it’s a long term commitment to process of improving. • The milestones you cross. The changes you make. The progress you see. • It’s not a derivative of aesthetics, strength, or external validation. • Confidence comes once you’ve fallen in love with the FUNDAMENTALS - not the OUTCOMES. • Confidence is cultivated when you show up & act in alignment with your commitment. When you follow through with what you told yourself you were going to do. • So, my friends, that’s how you build confidence. In fitness. In your work.
