3 Reasons why low calorie/ restrictive diets aren’t going to help you truly lose weight. . Although the general idea of a low calorie or restrictive diet seems like an appropriate solution to help us lose weight, it’s most likely not the right answer. . Why? . You aren’t eating enough: . Yes, being in a caloric deficit is necessary to lose weight. However if we remain in an extreme deficit for a long period of time we may begin to deprive our body of what it needs for its essential daily functions. . Our bodies need a certain amount of fats, protein and even carbs to help maintain a balance, and assist with muscle repair and growth. This is why it’s important to make sure we are eating enough to support our bodies basic needs. . You risk damaging your metabolism: . Being in a caloric deficit for a long period of time can also be damaging to your metabolism. This happens as a natural response to our bodies constant low source of fuel for its normal functions. Our body learns to adapt by conserving energy and in turn learning to rely on few calories. This means you will need to eat less to maintain your body weight, so losing weight will require a further decrease in calories. #notaboutthatlife . Binge eating . Being on a restrictive or low caloric diet for long periods of time significantly increases your risk of binge eating and creating an unhealthy relationship with food. I don’t know about you, but nothing makes me want to eat an entire box of donuts more than having considered them evil and going months without a single bite! #isaythisfromexperience . I 100% believe in the concept of practicing the 80/20 rule and giving yourself the freedom to enjoy your favorite foods in moderation. . It IS possible to lose weight without restriction or extremely low calorie diets. I talk a lot about discipline and loving your training - so I wanted to share that today I went to the gym, decided I didn’t feel like working out and left for home without even changing! . Mental tiredness is not an “excuse” unless it becomes an everyday occurrence. I have 2 rest days a week and I move them around based on when I feel I need them - both physically and mentally. Discipline and hard work is necessary when it comes to training, but FLEXIBILITY makes it enjoyable and something you can adhere to in the long run! 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

Hellllllo, - edit, I found this in my drafts from days ago but the message is still the same :) It’s late and I got things on my brain. So, why not put them out there? Tonight my mind is racing about making the right decision. What is the right decision? There isn’t one! There will always be the “shoulda, coulda, woulda”. Why waste time thinking about them? Tonight I was faced with the decision to eat a healthy dinner and workout or eat like crap and binge watch a show. Today, I made the decision to move my body and I felt so much better after. It’s times like those that I need to remember when I’m feeling like bailing on the gym. I ALWAYS feel better after, and I’m one step closer to my goals. The time is going to pass anyway, so why not make the decision to get you there faster?

I AM ALIVE! spent the whole weekend at @rollingloud and was so beat up from moshing my way to the front of the crowd (I was 10 ft away from @travisscott hehe) that i’m still recovering😅 here’s a shoulders & arms workout that gave my body a break while actually being pretty taxing on my delts, bis & tris: - 1️⃣3x5 heavy barbell shoulder press 2️⃣3x21s (7 bottom half curls, 7 top half curls, 7 full curls) 3️⃣3x12 cable tricep extensions superset with 12 cable rear delt pulls 4️⃣3x12 bent lateral raises superset with 12 lateral raises 5️⃣3x12 dumbbell tricep extensions superset with 12 hammer curls 6️⃣3x12 plate curls superset with 12 plate front raises - this had my whole upper body on FIRE 🔥 I can’t believe i’ve never shared a bis/tris lift before bc I love training them so much! let me know if you guys wanna see more upper body workouts 🔐👍🏽 - 🎶 Right Now — @lilbaby_1 ft @thuggerthugger1

❤️Double tap for Deadlifts❤️ One of the hardest parts of the deadlift for new lifters to feel is locking down the back in a neutral extension position and holding it there through the pull.⠀ .⠀ So often I see lifters like the photo on the left pulling with a rounded lower back. This puts a ton of strain on those muscles and under a load it’s easy to sustain an injury.⠀ .⠀ Instead you want to get your back like the photo on the right - where my back is flat. This is called lumbar extension and it’s a crucial part of the deadlift.⠀ .⠀ To do that think about lifting the chest without dropping the hips. This produces extension throughout the back that will result in a flat back. People ask me all the time, “what are you doing?!” “I want to do what you’re doing!” What are you drinking?!” “How do you stay motivated?!” . But then when I share with these peeps what I’m doing, and y’all don’t wanna do it... 🤷🏻‍♀️😳🤦🏻‍♀️ Haha do you boo 😘 but I’m here if you wanna ACTUALLY set fear of failure aside, and go all in. 😘 . You guys. I was the girl who tried EVERYTHING. I literally even tried the “save your calories for ice cream,” diet. I bought diet pills Off of infomercials. I drank those “protein” meal replacements from Costco thinking that would do the trick!🤦🏻‍♀️ . When I decided I no longer wanted to starve myself, and that I wanted to feel confident and happy in my skin, I just so happened to stumble across my friend who was doing at home fitness programs and drinking some sort of superfood thingy. 🤷🏻‍♀️ . I was reluctant bc, I thought that you had to go to the gym to get results. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I had 3 kids three and under, and I worked full time, so I did NOT have time to go to the gym.. . I pondered for a few weeks (missed the promo🙈), and then decided HECK YES I need the change, so I might as well give it a try! Money back guarantee, right?! 💃🏻🙌🏻💃🏻🙌🏻 . Couple of exercises to build strength and stability in single leg exercises ... Always make sure to move slowly through the exercise and don't worry if you lose balance just reset your position:- try to notice what it is that threw you off... Was it distraction? I.e not focusing on one point , I always try to pick a point on the floor and keep looking at it it really helps to keep you centred. / Maybe it's because your weight isn't distributed evenly , try to keep your weight balanced over the centre of your foot. if it's too far back/ fwd it will make you unstable. Give it a go 😊 Supetset (both exercises back to back)3sets , 6 reps on each leg with 40 sec rest between sets. Great as a part of leg day work out / for building balance skills!

Anyone else have to hype themselves up for the set like 5 times before they can actually do it? . . . Today’s workout was SUPER rushed because i had an on-campus meeting to go to, but it was a great workout nonetheless. I wanted to emphasize how important it is to understand that not every workout will be your BEST workout ever. You WILL have days where you feel sluggish, you WILL have workouts that feel like they did nothing for you, just know that this is okay, and in the latter case, you’re probably wrong! I always say an “eh” workout is better than no workout at all. Even when you aren’t “feeling it”, just get your butt up and go to the gym. . . . For me, i know good music, jamming on the way there, and wearing a cute outfit always helps hype me up for a good workout. Sounds dumb? yeah, maybe, but it works for me and thats what matters. . . One of those non-scale victories where I'm back to the same notch on my Powerlifting belt from the start of the year but a good 5kg heavier. Focusing on the number on the scale is never a good idea. I went from 69kg to 78kg this year for a number or reasons. In a bid to get back down to that 69kg, I had periods of weight fluctuations and developing more unhealthy habits. Since July just been focusing on nutrition, exercise and self love. Currently 74kg and feeling strong, thicc and proud ⚡🌠❤️😀

⁣⠀ Jamie Lee Curtis⁣⠀ stole all my yogurt Kit Kats.⁣⠀ Such a crappy move.⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ Rating: 8 out of 10 Activia commercials⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ --⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ This is the Everyday Luxury Yogurt Double Berry & Almond from Japan. It contains crispy wafers sandwiched with a fruit filling, coated in "yogurt," and topped with almonds and not one but two kinds of dried berries: raspberries and cranberries.⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ When you open the bag, a strong cake frosting smell comes wafting out. The fruit topping is pleasantly tart and tangy, balanced out by the sweetness of the chocolate. On the whole, just a little too sweet for my preference, but I still enjoyed how unique this flavor was. Not sure these Kit Kats will help keep Jamie regular but I hope she enjoys them all the same.

Trying out the new Vietnamese in Ancoats- and I have to say it may be one of the best I have had (outside of Vietnam 🇻🇳 of course!) Would highly recommend... even the desserts 🍨 were 👌!! Since starting this program, I’ve done a 10 minutes cardio warm up and 10 min of stretching before every gym sesh – and just from that little bit, I am insanely more flexible than I ever have been! So i was meant to be lifting heaving and doing heavy deadlifts this week but we had a little accident with a barbell so here we are, light weight single leg romanian deadlifts! If you haven't tried these then this is why you must!! The reason why a romanian deadlifts is preferred by me is because well I'm a gal and I'm ALWAYS WORKING ON THE BOOTY 🙌🍑. When you are doing a standard deadlift we activate our quads when we lower our knees to the bar and bring our hips forward. In a romanian deadlift because we don't do that we have more glute and hammy activation so we can really focus on our mind and muscle connection! Be sure to start light weight and ensure your form is correct! Do not drop form for weight, use the mirror to ensure your hips and back are straight. Last day for this session and even though I’m ready for a change I’ve enjoyed the past 4 weeks.
