So yesterday i competed in the body weight category higher than my usual at the #englishchampionships my snatches haven’t been amazing in the gym over the past couple of weeks but i did try to shake that from my mind. This competition was used as a practice and to gain more experience on the platform as we all know it can be a very different experience than in the gym! Therefore not a full de load for this comp so I am ok with my result. Top lifts were 65/86kg a platform 3kg improvement on the C&J and I’ve definitely got more in me! I wouldn’t be at this amazing stage in my life or even have a career in weightlifting if it wasn’t for the amazing duo @sawyer.dave and @cyril.martin.1042 to which my gratitude for putting up with my craziness and keeping me focused is bigger than words! And #teamatlas for your constant ‘family’ support. Also thank you’s go out to physio active for keeping my body working. @unorthodoxnutrition for also dealing my crazy panics and getting me to my body weight and @freshthemealprepco for providing me with my weekly food. I get asked all the time if I eat breakfast. And 2 years ago, I would have said ‘absolutely, that is the most important meal of the day.’ That is, until I began testing Intermittent fasting and carb cycling. This has absolutely revolutionized my approach to nutrition and exercise and helped me reset my metabolism and address countless health issues my clients have found relief from and beyond. But what is Intermittent Fasting? 1️⃣Intermittent fasting is not a diet, but an eating schedule. There are different protocols while intermittent fasting but one of my favorites is the 16/8. This is where you are fasting 16 hours each and every day. You are getting ALL your calories in in an 8 hour time period. The other one I do on occasion is the full 24 hour fast once a week. 2️⃣Your body is always in one of two states (fed or fasted). In a fed state (digesting food) your insulin levels make burning fat a challenge. In the true fasted state (8-12 hrs after you finish digesting), your insulin levels are lower and able to reach into your fat stores. Regular mini meals (like the fitness industry used to suggest) spikes your insulin levels constantly! 3️⃣Intermittent fasting allows your body time without food to spend more of its energy on internal healing and repair. And the energy sources it will pull from can be fat. The biggest thing with intermittent fasting is that you need to get your calories in. This is not a fad where you decrease calories - and if you’ve worked with me in the past, you know how much I support EATING! Intermittent fasting sounds scary but in practice is pretty simple… I challenge you to try it out- reach out if you need some pointers!

Confession: "How do you stay motivated?"... Is a question I've actually never been asked🤷. But I'm a long winded fitness instagrammer so I'm going to tell you anyways (even if the back rolls don't currently seem particularly motivating). - First off, trying to put on these Iong lost leggings that no longer easily go over the booty. Motivated... But in the sense that I'm actually making progress. - I obviously take a crap ton of selfies. Another selfie snapping insta meathead, yes. But when I do actually compare it to old pics, progress is motivating as hell. - I kept my coach man @teamelitephysique year round and I'm so glad I did. Accountability is no joke. But also super motivating when he can confirm I'm not just becoming round but moving in the correct round edged direction. - Lastly, I didn't know I would be so passionate about a fit lifestyle. But it's something that makes me feel really good about myself. I love geeking and expanding my fitness knowledge and I can see physical results when applied. It’s a perfect day to celebrate some Non-Scale Victories— after 2 weeks in my Fat Loss Bootcamp I couldn’t be more proud of the NSV’s each lady shared with our group! Today I want to spotlight one of my clients and her amazing success only 2 weeks in: . “I am mom of 2 busy little boys (ages 8 and 5) and an attorney. My work days start at 7 am and can end anywhere between 5 and 6 pm (or later depending what I have going on with cases). I have always enjoyed working out and eating well but when things get busy with work and the family the first thing that goes is working out and meal prep. This program has shown me that I can follow a workout plan daily as it is in fact necessary not just for physical health but mental as well. Changing my diet and keeping to a workout routine has increased my mental clarity, I don’t feel as tired at the end of the work day, and I have seen many physical changes as well. This program is teaching me that when times get stressful and busy it is just as important for me to take care of myself rather than sacrificing those things (working out and eating well) to gain more time as I have found I am much more effective and at my best when working out and eating well are a part of my daily routine.” -Meghan . Today we’re coming at you with some hacks and cues for a Bigger Deadlift! 👊🏽💥 . . “Pack Your Lats” roll you shoulders and tuck them into your back pocket to create tension and keep a back flat . . . “Force your knees out” the entire lift to maintain glute engagement. Pull the bar up through the hamstrings and glutes . . . “Crack the Walnut” squeeze the glutes at the top of the lift to and finish off with a solid lock out . . . Remember to focus on maintaining a neutral neck and spine throughout the entire movement. . . Use these cues and you will be a few steps closer to your biggest, heaviest, strongest deadlift ever!! Let’s talk about PUSH UP’s! Form is of utmost importance when it comes to a solid push up. Push up’s are a fantastic exercise move to do daily— great for your full body, as long as form is on point! Start with your arms straight and your hands and shoulders aligned. Squeeze your glutes and brace your core. Your body should be straight from head to heels. Now you will want to lower your chest to a few inches off the ground with elbows tucked back. Look down towards the floor to engage your full range of motion. Push Up from there and repeat. If you can’t do many push up’s on your feet there is absolutely no shame in dropping to your knees for a modified push up either. Or better yet- alternate 5 modified and 5 on your feet and repeat 3x.
