As we wrap up the last days of heat and summer like weather and put the bathing suits away-most women are much more aware of their tummy. They want abs that pop and a leaner midsection. Unfortunately, the fitness industry is full of myths regarding how to rid yourself of stubborn body fat...and almost all of those myths include thousands of crunches. The truth is you can’t spot reduce fat. If you want a leaner midsection, you have to burn fat overall. However, there are some other important factors when it comes to a flatter tummy. Here are some things that DO work: 1. Effective Probiotics from @silverfernbrand (to help regulate the bacteria found in your gut) - link in bio for more info on these! 2. Cut Down on Dairy and Gluten (because both can be inflammatory for most of us and causes bloating, stomach aches and discomfort). 3. SLEEP! (Your body needs to be able to restore itself and unless you can get regular and quality sleep this will be toughβ€” When you aren’t getting enough sleep, your cortisol levels remain elevated and that means holding on to fat). 4. Hit those Sprints (The very best ab workout you can do is a set of sprints. This not only gives you the fat burning benefits of a HIIT workout but will strengthen your core in ways you wouldn’t believe. Not buying it? Do 8 sprints for 20 seconds each, then tell me how those abs feel. ). Lastly- RELAX, Prolonged periods of stress can also lead to elevated cortisol levels, so it is important you find ways to relax. Maybe that’s hitting the gym, going for a walk, journaling, or sipping a latte by the pool. Be sure to take a few minutes each day to just chill. I promise, it will be good for your flat tummy goals!

FACT- Just doing squats won't get you a bum! You have to do exercises based around all of your bum muscles the maximus, medius and minimus... This includes. Abductors adductors, hip thrusts, bulgarian squats, kick backs, box jumps.. A few sets of walking lunges added in after my usual glute warm up has made a huuuge difference in my balance and stability, which has helped nearly all my other lifts. These can be done with or without the weight, and sometimes I even do them on the treadmill after cardio if I'm short on time or space. Don't neglect the small or simple stuff, it all gets you closer to where you want to be

Every so often we can find ourselves in seasons of struggle in our health and fitness. Maybe it isn’t anything super big or hard that we are going through - we simply feel out of sorts or melancholy. It happens to all of us because we are human. I truly believe that a lot of the time it’s because we find ourselves in a comparison trap or because we don’t feel like we are doing enough. Maybe you’ve had an off week or month of season. Let me encourage you today that we have to begin with LOVING OURSELVES. Truly, being able to look beyond the size of our jeans or how many calories we consumed that day and know our value is in who we are not what we look like. I know that this is easier said that done but I also truly believe that this is the catalyst for everything we do (including finding success in health and wellness). We’ve got to love the person we are, the person God made no matter what. Then we can begin the process of making changes because we want to be healthier for life, not for the sake of being skinny or wearing a size 6. If we will speak to and act on loving ourselves, we will move and eat like we love ourselves. You are worth loving. You are valuable. I’m cheering for you today, friend!

Caffeine & skincare {β˜•πŸŒΈ} Currently stranded on the couch nursing a rupturing cyst ( #justgirlythings πŸ˜€πŸ”«), just doing what I can to make myself feel good. That means coffee, and lots of it. It also means lots of time to take care of my skin. I'm definitely new to the skincare game, but I can already see the benefits of putting even a tiny amount of effort into it. I've really been loving this Promise Organic olive oil moisturizer, it smells so good and feels light and refreshing on my face. I like to use the Tarte maracuja oil before bed, I wake up with super soft skin and a dewey complexion.

When it's suppose to be Fall πŸŽƒbut it's still hot like JuneπŸ”₯, you make homemade slurpees. Homemade Lemon Lime BCAA Slurpees. THIS is a great way to mix your BCAA's on your way to the gym or even if you are headed to the beach. Pour it into a Hydroflask or a Yeti and it will stay in the slurpee form for hours. So refreshing, cooling and hydrating. Ingredients: 1 scoop Lemon Lime BCAA's from @cmsupplements A couple handfuls of ice A few splashes of water Place all ingredients in blender and mix until mixture is desired consistency Also....You could add frozen fruit as well. Top picture is from June 30 2017, and the bottom picture is from earlier this week. A few months of back and shoulder (and flexing) gains, all thanks to heavy weights and tons of food! I've also recently changed my split from the typical "bodybuilder" individual muscle days (chest/tri's, back/bis, delts, legs) to a simple upper body/lower body split (2 days lower, 2-3 days upper), and I think just the fact that it's a change from my normal training has made a huge difference overall. Don't get stuck in a gym rut, and never be afraid to mix it up!
