It allows you to price based on value. If the task brings more value to a client, you will be able to charge more opposed to hourly rates. In addition, once you get more experienced and a task requires you fewer hours, you will instantly give yourself a raise.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. It gives a framework and clarity. And people love clarity. There are studies showing that people will prefer a set amount even if it is higher over an unknown amount even if later it turns out to be lower. Many times clients don’t know how much time the task will take (no clarity) and thus it may be harder to sell based on hours to be spent.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. Our Covenant group just finished reading this one. I wouldn’t say any of the concepts were radically new but also ones I can’t hear enough times. Parenting is so much more than good behavior and manners. Our kiddos need changed hearts. We can’t do that for them. But we can model transformation through our own spiritual growth. We can only give them GRACE as we receive it. I’m challenged, encouraged and humbled. Thanks @pauldavidtripp for pointing us towards Jesus.

Thursday thoughts... . There’s an abundance of palm trees in Israel. Palm trees don’t just produce coconuts! Did you know this? There’s actually a type of palm that produces dates too. . Palm trees have the ability to bend 180 degrees and then bounce back up to standing. They stand tall and live long. They are able to withstand high winds, are resilient in resistance and are able to bend low without breaking. This, she explained, is why the Bible talks of the righteous being like palms. . What would it look like for us to flourish like a palm tree? . It could look like a contrite heart bouncing back up to it’s standing in grace after being bent 180 degrees low in rebellion. . It could look like standing tall in the dignity and purity of Christ by choosing to say nothing instead of something when tempted to gossip. . It could look like soul-resilience. Like being able to withstand the high winds of heart-wounds or health-bending diagnoses in the strength of God, without breaking. . I want to flourish like a palm tree and live tall with resilience and strength. I want God’s love to be so deeply rooted in my heart that I thrive no matter what challenge I face. . I can because of the power of Christ is at work within me. You can too.

This past weekend, I was speechless as we drove to Cape Vincent around sundown. ⁣ ⁣ The sky was lit up in layers, layers of the 🌈 ⁣ ⁣ And I was reminded of a quote I read:⁣ “Lord make me a rainbow, ⁣ I’ll shine down on my mother.⁣ She’ll know I’m safe with you,⁣ When she stands under my colors.”⁣ ⁣ I’m not saying that I am happy, or relieved, ⁣or excited that my daughter is in heaven & ⁣ not here in my belly continuing to grow..⁣ ⁣ I’m just not there yet. ⁣ ⁣ And that’s ok. ⁣ ⁣ However, a sense of peace ☮️ washed over me when I saw the sky and I grabbed my bar necklace that I wear everyday, I kissed it & said “I love you baby girl, momma loves you.” ⁣ ⁣ In that moment, I processed the grief. ⁣ ⁣ In that moment, I didn’t strangle or suppress my grief, I let it be what it needed to be. ⁣ ⁣ For a moment, I didn’t ignore it. ⁣ ⁣ In that moment, I felt her presence in the middle of my hurting. ⁣ ⁣ In that moment, I had the strength to continue just one more day.

GRACE If there is one thing the pandemic has taught me (so far) it is grace. To give it to myself. To give it to those around me. To look for those who might need it, might not know it, might not be asking for it, etc. Can't drag yourself to your desk today? Don't. Work from your bed. Work from your couch. Just take whatever baby steps you CAN handle and Keep Going. Can't make your usual morning smoothie? Don't. Have the bagel if it helps you get to the next step of the day and keep going. Make the carbs. Make the comfort casserole. Can't pull together another activity for your kids? Don't. Turn on the TV and watch something TOGETHER and just BE WITH THEM. That may be what they need to feel safe, comfortable, and loved right now anyways. Keep Trying Keep Trusting Keep Believing Keep Growing Heaven will be cheering you on Today Tomorrow & Forever -Jeffrey R. Holland These incredible beautiful women have been such a blessing in my life during these last few crazy months. Addison had just gotten her diagnoses of T1D & I was going through some hard things, plus the fear in the back of my mind of covid with having 3 children with compromised immune systems. I knew I couldn’t get through this alone. We started a little Marco Polo group With some ladies in my neighborhood. At first most of us didn’t know each other very well. But, I feel as though each of us were in the group for a reason. We are all very different & in different stages of life. But, we are all mothers & have so many different talents. We each bring different prospectives of life. Some of us have special-needs children. Some have teenagers, & some with little ones. As we have talked we have come to know each other. We have laughed & cried, you know those ugly cries!😂 Yep, & we have gotten to know each others stories & I have seen the strength that each one of these amazing women have. I admire each one of them. They will never know how grateful I am to them for their friendship & how much they have helped my testimony grow & restrengthen again through them. They serve others so selflessly, & do not judge. They have been there for me when I needed help with my children, something from the store or had a horrible day & just needed to lock myself in my bathroom & cry & talk to someone. We share our little joys, & even our fun little things that help us get through these long days like tie dying, baking & a few have started a little diamond art obsession!😂 I love this tribe of strong Christlike women so much! No matter how hard life is or how low you are just keep trying, keep trusting, keep believing, & keep growing! I know Heavenly Father has placed these strong Christlike women in my life for a reason, & so many others. My family, my sweet neighbors, my good friends, young womens, doctors, teachers, & ministering sisters. He knew I would need them. He knew it would be too much for me alone, so he did not leave me alone.

This week- I was humbly reminded about the path I am walking. It was an intense feeling. I was stressed. I was tired. And I was left wondering - yet again.... questioning my intentions, my path, my purpose. But something sparked a new hope with a couple of needed phone calls and some simple “checking on you” texts. And it was a weight lifted. You see- I am BLESSED with some of the greatest GIFTS of love, loyalty and friendships. With these simple acts of kindness- I remembered patience. I also remembered perseverance through it all. And it hit me- someone I respect so much said to me one day-“thank you for being a/my symbol of perseverance.” Again - that “word” hit me. When it was said- I saw a verse and it made me think of you. And there it was- Right there- in the good book- “But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance” - Romans 8:25. It knocked the wind out of me. I believe this is MY word. This is the word I am to humbly serve others with. Patience. Time. Unconditional love. Perseverance. Life’s journeys will not come without adversity. The road can be treacherous, arduous; this path may seem dark. But believe me when I say this.... in the darkest of places- when it seems impossible- the smallest crack of light will shine through. YOU are that light. So go be it. And understand this- living your life and decisions you make to live life at your design- I promise will not come without negativity, doubt and hurtful comments from others. But it is WITH these negative pieces that you will learn to build strengths with the bricks and rocks thrown. People WILL judge you. It will also undoubtedly come from YOU- YOUR own head space. Never doubt yourself. You are worthy. Don’t be so hard on yourself and stick to your convictions. And love yourself unconditionally. Life can be so good if you let it. I’m not saying I’m perfect and that I am not guilty of being inside my own head- doubting myself. But I trust the signs the universe puts in front of me. And I make choices; God willing they be the right ones. -Continued-

These days, the emotional roller coaster is a real thing for all of us. One minute things are ok, we are laughing and enjoying life. The next it feels like our world is too much to handle. I don’t bring this up often, and if I’m being super honest, it’s probably because I’ve felt some shame and vulnerability around it. But since May is #mentalhealthawarenessmonth, I wanted to share my journey with Bell's Palsy.⁣ ⁣ The full story (symptoms, treatment, and recovery) is up on my blog 👉 via the site link in my profile. Here is the short-ish version:⁣ ⁣ I woke up one day in 2004 and knew right away that something was wrong with my face; the right side felt stiff and weak. As the day went on, my face got progressively worse and droopy until half of my face felt numb. To say I panicked is an understatement. I full-on freaked out.⁣ ⁣ I had never heard of Bell’s Palsy until my doctor diagnosed me with it. It’s a type of sudden onset of facial paralysis. The frustrating thing about Bell’s Palsy is that it’s a very ambiguous diagnosis in terms of cause, treatment, and potential recovery.⁣ ⁣ It’s taken years of positive self-talk to lessen the damage to my self-esteem and overall mental health. I’m still a work in progress. There are days when I feel uncomfortable taking a selfie and I have to sit with those feelings.⁣ ⁣ Looking back on my experience with Bell’s Palsy, I would say that more than anything, it humbled me. Losing such an outward ability – the ability to fully smile, made me sensitive to others’ struggles (physical and emotional). It’s what eventually set me on a mission to bring some positivity and motivation to others through my hand lettering. Because only I know what my body has endured. ⁣ ⁣ ☆ I remember being in high school and wanting so badly to be like my skinny friends. I’d buy jeans way too small and force myself in them. “I’m totally a size five!” I remember sitting in class and being in physical pain, the jeans digging into my rolls. When I’d get home I’d take them off and have all the pressure lines, and sore legs. ⁣ ⁣ ☆ I’ve come a long way since then, and no longer torture myself in hopes or having a body society deems as acceptable. I don’t care about the number on the tag when I shop for clothes. If it fits and I love it, I wear it. ⁣ ⁣ ☆ Your body is beautiful no matter the thick thighs, tummy rolls, stretch marks, bat wings, double chin, weird birthmark. You’re a goddess. You are the universe.

There is a time and a season. . . It's really important to remember that with each season of our life there comes different opportunities for talents to be developed, used, or put aside for a time. I do feel we can always make time for our talents and passions but sometimes we just don't have as much time as in other times of our lives. The key is learning to embrace each stage for what it has to offer. So if right now you are given the gift of time, use your talents and share them with others, enjoy it and keep going! If that's not you right now and there are other important things are at the forefront, then love those things, and take little bits of time to continue loving your talents and creating them. If they can't be the main focus of your life it doesn't mean they aren't important or that you aren't good at them still. When I said yes to a 5 day sample of these 3 steps, it was the day I was fed up with suffering. Chronic conditions create quite the journey when there's nothing that offers much relief. I had tried every diet change, went vegan for 2 years, switched my workout routine, and nothing helped. Basically worked, daily routine, Luna. Nothing else. In case you missed it last weekend, while I was watching your Postcard Kit Pre-Orders roll in, I decided my first home project was going to be to make our front stoop more welcoming⁣⁣💌⁠ ⁣⁣⁠ ⁣⁣⁠ Thanks to all your suggestions we went with the color most of you seemed to like too! ⁣⁣🌻⁠ ⁣⁣⁠ ⁣⁣⁠ It was rather simple to do and it has changed the entire front of our home now--- it's those little touches that go a long way to truly turn your space into YOURS🥰⁠ ⁣⁠ ⁣⁠ Now to decide if I will paint the frame next weekend... 🤗

Our relationship to our intuition isn’t so different from our other relationships. If you don’t show up, on a pretty consistent basis, there’s not much of a connection, right? . . So it goes with our intuition. . . That’s a relationship we need to cultivate, every day, if we want it to be fruitful and strong. . . One of the ways I show up: free writing. . . When I free write on a regular basis, I free my mind of clutter, and find clarity—either on the page, or in a moment of “knowing” I experience later in the day. . . It’s a simple practice. All you need is ten, uninterrupted minutes, a writing utensil and a good, lined notebook. This is something you want to do by hand. . . You set a timer. And then, you write. The only rule is that don’t stop writing. You don’t judge the words. You let them flow through you. You transcribe your thoughts, and you keep your pen pressed to paper. Let each word be something you write and then release, as you move to the very next word. . . This feels, for me, like a shower for the brain. It’s a way to use the body to dredge up some of what’s beneath the surface. . . I’ve incorporated this into my meditation practice, because it feels so good to write from that calm place I reach when I watch my breaths. . . I write about that day’s meditation, any insights or noteworthy thoughts. If I asked for guidance prior to practice, I pay attention to see if I have answers. If not, that’s okay. I write about it. . . Sometimes you’ll write things that surprise you. You’ll find that you know what to do about certain situations, and, because you have the words right there, it becomes harder to ignore the thing you must do, even if it’s a hard thing. . . Not every exercise will yield some powerful insight. You might document what you’re doing that day, how you’re feeling. But the point is, for those ten minutes, you’re your own witness. You hold space & allow. And I find that when I’m in the habit of doing this, it helps me lean into my knowing, off the page. . . . How do you connect to your intuition on a regular basis? This afternoon I didn’t want to clean up lunch, I didn’t want to clean the floor after a kid through his soup on the floor, I didn’t want to clean out the dishwasher, I didn’t want to keep breaking up fights between the kids, I didn’t want to do the laundry, I didn’t want to do the mommy/stay at home thing. Reality is this is life and I so love my dear kids with all my heart and love that I get to be home with them but you guys it’s ok to not want to do these things everyday. It’s ok not to do the dishes, it’s ok not to clean up a mess. It’s ok not to want to be in this role for a bit. It’s ok to take a timeout, reset, clear your mind and grab a coffee. ⠀ •⠀ •⠀ And that is exactly what I needed to do and did. To my surprise all the kids fell asleep, so I think we all needed this drive. •⠀ •⠀ Give yourself some grace moms, give yourself a timeout and clear your mind. I started week 8 (aka the LAST week of this program!!) today. I honestly can't get over how far I've come. When I began this journey, I couldn't even lift one of these 5 lb weights consecutively... today I swung them both around like it was no big deal 🤯💪🏼. I'm not sharing this to brag about my strength or toot my own horn. I'm sharing this because you never know what you're capable of until you give it a shot. I sat back & watched & wished for a LONG time before I finally took the chance on myself. The truth is, nobody is going to do it for you. YOU need to realize your worth, because the sooner you do, the sooner you can start to show yourself the self love you deserve. Whether it's starting a workout regiment, starting a business, or starting to take time for you - you ARE worth it. You ARE capable of anything. You ARE strong. & you ARE deserving of all of your wildest dreams! 🖤

As starry eyed college students we went through the process of choosing our majors and figuring out at least what general industry we want to be in while in school . . Fast forward to now and maybe you’re thinking, “I’m not sure where I wanna go from here” . . And I’m here to tell you that that is completely normal . . A lot of times we feel like after college our career path should come easy because we spent all that time in school “figuring it out” . But honestly unless you were in career services after class every day, most of us don’t know what we want to do . . And that doesn’t mean that what you chose was wrong. It just means that your next step is a little fuzzy at the moment . . This isn’t something that you can just think about for five minutes and then never revisit again . . Your career path is an on going part of your life that you will have to deal with as you get older and as you grow in your career . . No one ever said this “grown-up“ stuff was easy . . Time to put on your big girl and big boy draws and get it done 🤷🏾‍♀️

The realities of mommin’, y’all. Ya can’t take a selfie anymore without the babe in the background 😂 My hair may be lovin the humidity a bit too much, and my face may be a little too acne covered because hey...I wear a mask all day at work. But at the end of the day, I don’t really care that my hair isn’t styled and my makeup is nonexistent. But tonight after work, I got to go for a walk with my baby and my dog and enjoy the sunshine while I watered my flowers with my two big helpers. Smiling because hey, I’ve never been this happy. It’s ok that my to do list isn’t complete and my hair is frizzy, because my baby is taken care of and happy and therefore I am too. I’m living my life more on a day by day basis then constantly living in the future and forgetting to enjoy the now. Luckily, I've been able to work from home, but that's not the case for millions of Americans.⁠ 🙏⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ From no fault of their own, more Americans than ever before, are without work. ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ Some are finding themselves unemployed for the first time in 30 years of being in the workforce, and many are working greatly reduced hours. Then there's the self employed, and small business owners, that are witnessing years of hard work circle down the drain.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ The country is slowly opening up, but it's going to take a long time for millions to get back on their feet. ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ Don't forget about your friends, family, neighbors who aren't working. Be sure to check in on them! Also make sure they have enough money for the basics. Most people are afraid to ask for help, but if you can afford to loan or give someone money right now for essentials you will probably have to ask them if they need it. This weekend was hard. 😤 Not for any other reason than me tightening my grasp on things I can’t control. 👊 The world, the pandemic, my future, our future, the economy, my business, our home. 👊 I was feeling really overwhelmed, trying to predict the future when my friend @ellen.mohan reminded me to surrender and sit with the shit: the emotions and heaviness I was feeling. Bc guess what, me stressing out abt it WILL NOT solve anything. 🤷‍♀️ And when I let that sink in, I felt a wave of relief. I cannot control it all, so therefore, I don’t have to solve it all. 🤯 I drafted these two mantras. 😂 Which one do you prefer?? ⬇️⬇️

Ever set down and plan out your week with all the tasks you need to accomplish? 🙋🏻‍♀️ & had your baby get sick or worse you get sick! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Loading up your task list with every last possible thing you need to get done is like trying to carry ALL the groceries in from the car at the same time. It’s possible but chances are a bag is going to break or you loose all feeling in your fingers for the next couple hours 🙈 Do this instead: 👇🏻 ✔️follow the 1-3-5 rule ✔️do your most important task first ✔️set time limits for each task ✔️delegate/outsource what you can ✔️stay on task, limit distractions ♻️Keep doing these things over and over and you will make peace with your task list 🧘🏻‍♀️ ✌🏼FREE COACHING ALERT - - > > Want some help with task management? Being a mother of 3 black sons is hard. 👑 It’s hard not to worry. It’s hard to teach them the world is kind and people are caring and loving. It’s hard to tell them that some people will be threatened by them and dislike them because of the color of their skin. It’s hard not knowing whether my husband will walk back through that door when he leaves in the morning. 💔 I look at them and see nothing but pure love and joy, but I’m also scared for them. I’m scared for my husband. I pray for them DAILY. I pray that God protects them from the cruelties of this world. 🌎 Heavy doesn’t describe it. Tired doesn’t quite do it either. I literally have no words. I’m speechless.

It’s now about balancing telework, homeschooling, cleaning, cooking, and keeping up with my routine. Self Care is so important🌻 I feel like I’ve shut myself off for the last 7 months since my mom left us☹️The losses have been too many in such a short time. Minimizing it isn’t always easy especially with what hear and see or boredom in the house..but quality sleep, counting our blessings, laughing, sitting still, tight hugs, a 30-minute workout are some of my go-to’s that calm my body and slow my mind 🙏. * 💥Emotional eating #totallybeenthere oh my let's not even start..😫 our pantry has never been filled with snacks and so the snacking is also endless. (Cheez-it extra toasty are my faves 😆) We are also moving less throughout the day from being inside, stuck in one place. 🤷. * * There are more, but just give yourself grace, okay? 🤗. * So don’t shame yourself for feeling shame! (I know that vicious cycle aaallll too well and am SO thankful for the community of women that showed me how to break out of it.) Right now, the best thing you can do is dance through it. Control what you can control and you don't have to completely let yourself go. Take it one day at a time and sway with it..🤗

In this new format, it takes me about 15 minutes to mark a math assignment. That’s opening it, letting it load, scrolling and zooming to read all the answers, sometimes it’s impossible, other times easy. But 15 minutes average per assignment. 💕 My feedback involves a positive comment, which questions are incorrect and an attempt to explain the correct approach to the errors through a comment. 💕 I know this is not the most efficient way, but it makes each student feel like their work was seen and reviewed by a teacher. 💕 I have 50 Math students. 💕 That’s 750 minutes per assignment. That’s 12.5 hours. 💕 I give 2-3 assignments per week. In Math. That’s 25 hours of marking. Per week. 💕 I also teach Language Arts, Religion, and Social Studies to 25 students. 💕 Besides marking, I hold extra help sessions for my class. I have a class meeting once each week. And I attend two staff meetings each week. 💕 Then there is the planning and creating of lessons that for 20 years I have taught standing in front of the people learning them that now have to be converted to an online platform that until 8 weeks ago I’d only barely heard of. I would not consider myself a tech savvy teacher so this takes time and energy beyond my scope of understanding. Sometimes it’s fun. Sometimes I swear my laptop is possessed by Satan. 💕 Some kids have printers. Some do not. Some kids have learning disabilities. Some are considered gifted. Some have access to tech all the time, some have only a few hours on the weekend. I am expected to reach them all and make this as easy on each of them as possible. I am to ensure their mental health is maintained. I am to ensure their families are safe. Truth? This shift to being a mom as my primary “job” has not been easy.⁣ ⁣ When I was pregnant, I wondered how I’d handle maternity leave and the first long break from work I’ve ever taken.⁣ ⁣ And believe me, not working initially was fully necessary (even though it took me some time to adjust). And I'm aware I’ve been so privileged to be able to take the break. But it hasn’t come without its challenges.⁣ ⁣ Being a mom is such a rewarding role and this baby is pure love and joy (and also very smart and strongly independent which is wonderful but also exhausting 😂). I’ll look back when Henry is older and cherish the extended quality time I got to spend with him these first months of his life. ⁣ ⁣ But it is a major life change and a monumental identity change. And I miss having another purpose. I miss my clients, especially seeing them face to face. I miss having projects to work on. I miss connecting and collaborating with other practitioners and professionals.⁣ ⁣ I know this is a season and things will change, but damn it’s been a heavy and long season. From newly postpartum to pandemic, it feels like as soon as I was ready to get back to work and get out into the world again, the universe put a strong stop to it.⁣ ⁣ And yes, I'm aware that my problems are small compared to so many others right now. But I think that a lot of us are feeling a similar way- a whole lot of "what the hell is going on and what am I supposed to do?"⁣ ⁣ I don't know what the point of this post is other than to show up in some way, share some solidarity if you're struggling too, and maybe even remind myself that it's okay that "work" now is a complete 180 from what it usually is. ⁣ ⁣ So for the foreseeable future, I’ll be over here debating whether to get work done during nap time or lay down, chipping away at projects in 10 minute clips, doing my best to be fully present when my mind is in a million places at once, and trying to be okay when sometimes the only "work" I get done in a day is taking care of my boy.

“How do you even find the time to....” fill in the blank, I’ve probably heard it. ⁣ ⁣ Postpartum was super tough for me. I struggled with PPA, I was really unhappy with my body, my skin, my confidence. Here was one of the only outings I had with my hubs and a dear friend and her son, because I had a hard time trying to just... be.⁣ ⁣ I needed to give myself grace and find peace with the acne that didn’t leave, the new shape my body had, the weight that made me uncomfortable in my own skin.⁣ ⁣ I want you to know, new mama, that you. Are. Not. The. Same. And that’s okay! And it’s going to take you time to be comfortable with your new normal, your relationship’s new normal, your new role as a mom, with your job, taking care of your home. It takes time, and sometimes even longer than it did to create that baby in the first place!⁣ ⁣ I’m two and a half years in, and just NOW finally really feeling like I’m getting a handle on everything. So give yourself grace! Take small steps. Don’t compare yourself to everyone else. Just... be! ⁣
