Listen up. Like a lot of guys, I slept on hip thrusts for a really long time. But now they’re a staple in my programs and my clients programs. Very few exercises compare to these in terms of glute and hamstring strength and development. I regret not doing them more years ago.⁣ -⁣ Form tip πŸ‘‰ if your gym doesn’t have an actual hip thrust machine, I recommend them at the edge of a decline sit-up bench. Raise the bench as high as it will go, so that it’s at the highest decline angle possible. This allows your back and shoulders to rest comfortably on a stable surface at the peak of the thrust. Also, (and more importantly), make sure you raise your shoulders off the bench as the weight comes down. This ensures your spine doesn’t curve over the edge of the bench on the negative portion putting your lower back at risk. Doing that also increases your power from the floor. ⁣ -⁣ Give this bench variation a try, especially my dudes πŸ€™ . . .

Sound ON πŸ”Š I feel like people STILL don't know the difference between a low bar squat and a high bar squat. β€’ The high bar squat is how you're told to squat as the ONLY correct way. It's a knee dominant exercise where the knees go past the toes in front working and isolating the quadriceps. β€’ A low bar squat is a full body exercise! You have to use core more, and you have to break at the hips before you break at the knees and you sit BACK instead of DOWN. Now obviously your thighs have to become parallel with the ground to hit the proper depth but its less deep than the high bar squat. β€’ It is a bigger compound movement than the high bar squat because it works your hamstrings, glutes, as well as your quads. β€’ The important thing you shouldn't forget are your own biomechanics. If your hips can go down at only a certain level before your lower back rounds, then that's the proper depth FOR YOU. β€’ Don't believe this notion of "ass to grass" because it doesn't apply to everyone. When training your legs always ensure your form is spot on!.. . We’ve got to look after your knees, so ensure your alignment is as per the pictures I’ve demonstrated here.. . Knees shouldn’t be going over your toes!!.. Keep your lower back in the seat of the machine and keep a smooth slow tempo 2 up - 2 down. . Visualise pushing the world away through your feet and keep the weight distribution even over heel and forefoot!.. . Keep your feet just slightly wider than shoulder width. Lastly knees should track straight inline with your toes and not move side to side!. . If you keep these tips in mind and keep the weight plus range of moment correctly you’ll target the quads, hamstrings and glues nicely πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ŒπŸ½ . . . .
