Did you know there is still a legal trade of ivory and rhino horn in Australia? This trade legitimises desire for these ‘products’ and drives the current rhino and elephant killing spree. It's unregulated, unpoliced and unforgivable. Australia's legal domestic market provides opportunity to launder recently poached ivory and rhino horn, and contributes to the illegal wildlife trade. Australia - we've got #bloodonourhands whilst we continue selling #ivory and #rhino #horn. Please contact Australian Environment Minister, Hon Melissa Price MP and demand a full domestic trade ban. When 7 year olds write a submission to the Australian Parliamentary Inquiry, you can't help but feel more inspired to continue working in this space to make sure these majestic and iconic species get to not only survive, but thrive on the planet. #elephants and #rhinos are being poached at catastrophic rates and #australia and #nz are complicit whilst we allow the unregulated trade in #ivory and #rhino #horn. Submissions closed yesterday and now it's up to our #government to do what is right. Thank you Chas Dolphin for your passion and commitment in wanting this abhorrent trade #gone4good. https://www.watoday.com.au/national/western-australia/the-seven-year-old-perth-boy-set-on-saving-endangered-animals-20180607-p4zk1f.html #FLOWildlife @collettedinnigan @3degreesmktg @janegoodallinst @josh.frydenberg.mp @jason_wood_mp @chefneilperry @officialjohn_farnham @glennshorrock @asherkeddieofficial

▪️ #worldwildlifeday 3.3.2018▪️It was confronting to witness the volume of elephant ivory and rhino horn placed on a table for public display at #MelbourneCrushEvent This was illegal trafficking seized in Australia and some was also donated by individuals to be crushed at the event. An elephant dies every 15 minutes and a rhino is slaughtered every 8 hours for this. The natural death of Sudan the last male Northern White Rhino in March this year has declared the northern white rhino officially extinct. These animals have lived for thousands of years but they are being driven to extinction by mankind. It was such a privilege to be at this event to participate in taking a stand against the ivory trade being allowed in Australia #NoDomesticTrade Thank you @fortheloveofwildlife for hosting this event and special thanks to @collettedinnigan @zoosvictoria @jason_wood_mp for taking a stand and telling the world we want this evil trade #Gone4Good The crushed ivory and horn will be given to the Human Elephant Foundation who will be custodians of the crushed remains and will transport them to their ancestral lands to be buried beneath a memorial sculpture soon to be created. Thank you @jason_wood_mp and Senator Lisa Singh for your continued work in making sure Australia stops being complicit in the horrific #poaching crisis. "Senator Singh said public opinion on the sale of ivory and horn would shape any new rules. "I think ultimately Australians don't want to be contributing to this ongoing trade of rhino and ivory in this country, knowing full well that that leads to the death of thousand of elephants and rhinos across the globe," she said." AUSTRALIA...you need to make sure that our Government hears your loud and clear call. We want the trade in ivory and rhino horn #Gone4Good. Despite the overwhelming evidence already given the the Government, we now have a parliamentary committee to address the issue. #CITES is unfit for purpose. Customs officers get a meagre 3.5 hours of training to deal with more than 35,000 endangered species. The Federal Govt is the signatory to CITES therefore is fully responsible for the domestic trade. Despite hundreds of seizures there have been NO prosecutions in the time we investigated 2010-2016. Australia and New Zealand...it's time. Thank you to @collettedinnigan, @3degreesmktg and all the people who support our work, for your tireless efforts in making sure the #MelbourneCrush (and our continued efforts) has the full impact it was created to have. Repost from @thelastanimals , calling all Melbourne friends and friends of friends. This is a chance to show the world you whole heartedly disagree with the murder of elephants and rhinos. It doesn’t matter how antique, vintage or new an ivory piece is, it has still been harvested by the killing of an wild animal. By either taking pieces along or donating money you are showing that there is no market for poaching. Please spread the word around. The greatest dangers to our wildlife are greed, poverty, corruption and apathy. When I see #tusks, #ivory trinkets or #rhinoceros horn I see the suffering and brutal death of some of the most magnificent creatures that walk our #planet.  Africa’s elephants and rhinoceros are under such threat that they face certain extinction - UNLESS WE TAKE ACTION NOW. TOGETHER WE CAN SAVE THEM. I choose elephants not ivory.  I choose rhinoceros not horn.  I choose #nodomestictrade. So can you. Together we CAN make a positive difference. #janestrafficstop Close ivory and rhino horn trade in #australia and #nz.  It’s time for this trade to be #gone4good. @3degreesmktg @collettedinnigan @bornfreefoundation @jane_goodall_nz

Thank you @thestudiobyfleur! It is so important that as many people as possible join @collettedinnigan on #worldwildlifeday #melbournecrush so we can end the trade in #rhino horn and #ivory in #australia and #nz. The poaching crisis needs YOU to stand and say we want trade #Gone4Good.

"I have stood beside the bodies of poached elephants and rhino. Masses of stinking, rotting flesh, staining the wild African earth. Wasted lives. No one needs ivory or rhino horn, whether they are in Australia or any other country - only those who want to make a killing. Living elephants and rhino are priceless. Their death robs us all. End it now." It's time for the trade in ivory and rhino horn to be #gone4good. Bring your ivory and rhino horn to #worldwildlifeday #melbournecrush to show the only value is a living animal. Join event Ambassador @collettedinnigan who wants YOU to stand for #rhinos and #elephants 1pm Bourke Street Mall, #melbourne 3 March 2018

Can you believe domestic trade in ivory & rhino horn, in Australia & NZ is still legal??? It’s totally beyond comprehension that, globally, every 15 minutes an #elephant gets killed & every 8 mins a rhino is slaughtered. 😡🐘🦏 #melbournecrush as its ambassador - to help take #ivory & #rhino horn off the market. Peeps can drop their ‘ivory’ Bourke St Mall or Melbourne Zoo. #gone4good #stopthetrade Beautiful rhino illustration from @luke__sciberras @fortheloveofwildlife #worldwildlifeday #protect #love #wildlife #conservation #savetherhinos❤️ #savethewildlifesavetheworld #setthemfree #illegaltoharmanimals #nomoreanimalcruelty🐘🐘❤️ #savetheelephants🐘❤️🐘

"My wife Jill and I have had the indescribable pleasure of seeing rhino on safari and watch elephants tenderly care for their young within a large herd. It’s impossible not to be left in awe. How could anyone want these animals killed for “trinkets”! It beggars belief that in this day and age, any trade in ivory and rhinoceros horn is still allowed, anywhere. We MUST cease the trade NOW. Please support #nodomestictrade Join @collettedinnigan #worldwildlifeday #melbournecrush and be part of the solution in the brutal #poaching crisis making the trade in ivory and rhino horn #gone4good. Bring your #trinkets, #jewellery, #chopsticks, #carvings, #horn and #tusks and crush them to show the only value is on a living animal. @officialjohn_farnham @gaynorwheatley
