It might seem like that was sarcastic but exercise is one of the most important things in my life. Since I can remember I've been pretty active. I starting swimming when I was 8 and still do. But in the last few years I've been getting to the gym and honestly it's my therapy. Sad, happy, angry, whatever my mood, getting in the gym makes me feel 100 x better. However, at the start I was intimidated by it. If you're shy the gym can be daunting so I understand the gym fear. But once you're over that it's such an amazing place. Back and bi set: 5 x 10: cable curls 3 x 10: lat pull downs 3 x 5: OHP 3 x 10: bent over row 5 x 10: bent over barbell row 6 x 10: alternate dumbbell row Superset: 4 x 10: face pulls 4 x 5: curls to OHP (last set AMRAP) Anyway, long story short I love the gym and you should too! πŸ’ŸπŸ at Birmingham, United Kingdom

Perhaps not the most dignified exercise, the cable pull-through (we have a different name for it) is an excellent posterior chain exercise. Your hammies and butt will feel so much fire. And the rest of you will just feel awkward. Or into it. You do you. β€’ Pull throughs works the hip hinge movement in a much easier to learn way for most people, translating to a better kettlebell everything and deadlift. You can use a band for this if you don't have cables. Make sure you are sitting your hips back and not squatting your knees or bending at the waist. β€’ Give it a shot! This cycle has been the worst. Lost strength and motivation being out for so long and I still feel a little out of groove. My bench and deads are where I left off, #squats (205) went down. I keep thinking if I should even compete in December. It's paid for and all but this time my mind, body, and heart are not in it. I'm in a funk I can't shake off. Blah. Low bar pause squat 125 x 2 x 4. This was my last set of the 4x4. Need to keep working on opening my hips when I reach depth so my right heel doesn't go up. First two reps showed a bit of that, but I managed to plant my feet for the last two. I'm starting to favor low bar over high bar. Who the heck am I? πŸ€” _____________________ Also, I did 3xF on push-ups after bench and cooling down. I finally managed to do 2 sets of 10 reps. I need to make sure my hips are neutral during the movement, but it's a work in progress. I'll take this one as a little victory today. My goal is to do 3x10 perfect reps. Ok so this happened. Kimberly Walford @trackfu ... one of the STRONGEST women in powerlifting...just gave me a whole new perspective on the sport. When I was first introduced to the sport I knew if I was going to be serious about it I must research it and know the (current and former) greats! Kim was one of the first women that popped up and I decided to start with her. What keeps her in the sport? How is she so successful? What's her workout regime? How does she balance it in her life? What's her nutrition like? YouTube and Google helped me answer some of those. Then I moved on to other women like @bubblypowerlifter 😍 Jennifer ThompsonπŸ’ͺ🏾 and whoever else popped up when I searched #womenwhopowerlift lol. The powerlifting community is BIG and for the most part very friendly and supportive! I've been in 5 powerlifting meets so far. 4 sanctioned and 3 of those being @usapowerlifting. Being new to the community and sport I'd tell myself "I'm really official once I have a 9-for-9 meet". At nationals I took risks on squats going up 7.5 kilos on my 3rd attempt and on deadlift going up 5 kilos for the 3rd attempt after PRing on my 2nd. I slick beat myself up thinking if I played it safe I would have had an all-around successful meet going 9-for-9 instead of 7-for-9. This woman been lifting for 17 years and just had her 1st 9-for-9 meet.... wow! A successful meet isn't just about making every lift! It's about taking risks and trusting/believing in yourself to make the next heavy lift whether it's for a new PR or a win. You don't go for what you know you can do. You do what you have to do to get the job (your goals) done. If you don't get it done atleast you've given it your all mentally and physically! My last squat, 347.2lbs, was a risk but I didn't doubt myself. I got it up but the depth wasn't there. My last deadlift, 413.4 lbs, was a big jump but I trusted myself to get it done. My legs were ready but my grip wasn't. These lifts pointed out my weak points that I need to (and will) improve. Squat, bench, deadlift week 3 strength. *********************************************** 1) 215*1*5 2) 215*5*3 - failed the fifth set, lost my footing in the hole (not shown). Depth issues known, working on that, typically from me being careful not to aggravate my glute issues 3&4) 135*3*1 - however I hate doing singles at a weight I can rep out.. So on my third set I repped it out a bit 5) 120*3*5 I also did deadlifts at 175*6*3, didn't think a slight deload needed a video 6&7) 205*4*3 - extra day added in last minute, because I can never deadlift enough due to it normally sucking.
