I miss the gym something fierce right now. I am doing what I can to keep my strength and get strong in different ways, but nothing beats lifting heavy for me. I realized I never posted videos from my last meet in February 2020. I went 7 for 9 and added 15kg (around 33 pounds) to my total. Here are my final attempts in each lift. * Squat: 122.5kg/270.1 # (18 # meet PR, 10 # gym PR) Bench: 67.5kg/148.8 # (same weight I failed in September ☹️) Deadlift: 157.5kg/347.5 # (17 # PR) * When I get to head back to the gym, I think it’s time for a coach. Today I went full potato playing Fitness Demo Potato in this video I made for @girlswhopowerlift with 10 exercises you can do with a wall ball aka medicine ball (or a slam ball or hell, even a soccer ball) that I think can help with powerlifting goals if you don’t have any way to train with a barbell right now. I got the idea when coach @allenpilley put high hold split squats in my programming this week, and we’ve done the good mornings before. Focusing on core and stability and upper back work... Even if you have to use a regular unweighted ball, holding the ball high still makes you more aware of upper back tightness and engagement than you may otherwise be. Most of these can be made more challenging, as well. After taking the last two days off lifting to allow my body to recover from Saturday’s max efforts, I’m back to it with some tempo & pause bench today. Focusing on lighter loads with more time under tension for a bit to give my joins a break from big weights. Tempo reps like this also force me to concentrate harder on my mind-muscle connection, and keeping everything tight. In the long run, this will become more automatic and help my bench continue to progress.
