God has made it VERY clear to me(after a few months of doubt, prayer, and self reflection), that this is what I’m supposed to be doing!! . . Over the past week, we came together to sweat it out for the HEROES in our communities who are putting themselves above others while showing true strength and courage during these difficult times. TGIF!!!! 2 arm days this week, 2 leg days so did a full body this morning ✅ Survived my first week of doing double workouts everyday too 💪🏻 I was really trying to not do that so I don’t wear myself out, but it has helped me to not couch sit all afternoon/evening 🤷🏻‍♀️🙈Also - bought my first and only crop top a year ago and was to scared to wear it anywhere so it’s been sitting in my closet 🙈 But when your gym is your home now there’s no judgment! Week 1 is done and IT FEELS SO GOOD! Shutting down my inner mean girl that tells me I'm doing enough, that I'm not good enough. * Yeah, you know, the one that sets up expectations for yourself that are beyond reason. * Repeat after me: "I'm DOING my BEST, and my BEST is AWESOME" I finished my workout and the trainer mentioned today was the last day of our 1st week. * I smiled. I'm HAPPY and PROUD. Yeah, I accomplished something this week. And, even more exciting, I did something for MYSELF! * I'm ready to start my birthday weekend, building a list of things to be proud of as I turn 36. My #healthandfitnessjourney will be at the top of my list.

That mindset that you have to either be all in or not at all, is and has been detrimental to my health. I used to feel bad about my choices if I fell off track just one bit… ⁣ ⠀⁣ I ACTIVELY work toward shifting my mindset day by day and to stop being so hard on myself because I don't look like I did prebaby and I haven't lost all my pre-baby weight. ⁣ ⠀⁣ I need to practice what I preach and remember this is a lifestyle which means it will not be perfect nor should I be. Here are my goals: ⁣ ⠀⁣ 1. Drink more WATER ⁣ ⠀⁣ 2. Track and eat within my portion controlled system at least 5 days a week⁣ ⠀⁣ 3. Move my body 30 minutes a day⁣ ⠀⁣ 4. Focus on a few exercises. When you are strength training you need to get really good at an exercise to get great benefits from it. If you are always jumping from one exercise to another you won’t get fit, you will just get sore and confused as to why you are working so hard an not seeing the progress that you should. How many is a few? 2 - 6 for any given tool and or system. Won’t you get bored if you only focus on 2-6 exercises? Only if you have no imagination. Because any given exercise has many variations. How do you know which ones to focus on? Full Body Functional Movements will always give you the most bang for your buck. Examples: Kettlebell Training - Swing, Turkish Get Up, Clean, Press, Squat, Snatch. Calisthenics - Push Up, Squat, Pull Up, Leg Raise, Bridge, Handstand Push Up. Barbell - Deadlift, Squat, Bench press, Military press, Clean, Snatch. Happiness is Home Made 🏠 I’m super excited to get to play with food during quarantine! 🥣👩🏼‍🍳 I’ve created an event of a 5 course edible brunch. Quarantine Garden Party we shall call it. 🥕 -Challenge is to make this without causing the entire party to fall flat on their 🍑. There will be drinks, snacks, dressings, ententes, and a dessert to finish it off. The goal is to educate while enjoying the food. Weed is medicine and there is so much more to the entire plant than just THC or CBD. I’m super excited to go through this journey and get to share it with some of my closest friends. Ps it’s a good thing we’ve been quarantined together cause now they are the only ones who could be at the event anyways😅

I don’t want to work out, I don’t want to do my steps and tbh I want to stay on the couch in my pyjamas watching movies 🍫 BUT, we don’t rely on motivation in my house 🤟🏽I still got a long way to go to get to where I want but appreciating my body every moment along the way @courtney_healthandfitness 💞

Still transferring photos and videos from my old fitness account. I’m at the 10 year challenge post I posted last year but instead I thought I’d change it up a bit. Here’s a body transformation post but not so much a fitness one. Left photo of when I was 18 before kids, middle photo after having Roger, and right photo after having Lincoln! No one really talks about this struggle of how our bodies change after having babies and after each baby our bodies change again. Each time the bounce back is harder but it doesn’t mean you can’t do it! Also here’s the thing, your body isn’t going to bounce back exactly the way it looked when you were 18. It’s okay! All worth it for our sweet babies! We all get into this mindset, “oh I have to look the way I did before kids. I have to lose an x amount of lbs to look this way again..” Reality is you’re not going to even when you get that x amount off. Our bodies change with each pregnancy. So before you go beating yourself up over the fact that you don’t look the way you did when you were 18, you’re not going to. Here’s what you should work toward - being healthy and happy in your own skin. Setting a goal for where you want to be (not 18 again) and working toward it. Look at the change in my body- Picture on the left and picture on the right have significantly changed. Get in the right mindset that you carried another human being! You grew a human inside of you! Self care isn’t just about workouts and getting pampered, It’s about taking care of our mind. Until we get our mind right we aren’t going to be able to see that our bodies are freaking magnificent in the bounce back. You aren’t going to appreciate that our bodies did this incredible thing. So keep working hard - keep remembering being healthy doesn’t mean going backward but moving forward and rocking what our bodies were made to do. You can do this!

I never really had a defining moment when I started my health and fitness journey. Growing up I was active in sports and didn’t really have to think about my fitness. Then I went to college and it was weird, I no longer had sports to rely on. As I started learning more about health and fitness I realized I was believing all the myths. Starve yourself. Protein is for the guys. Lifting weights makes you bulky. Cardio will make you skinny and “toned”. Don’t eat at night, it’ll make you fat. Flash forward to today I have learned so much about health and fitness and it’s made me a better person. I am more confident in myself. I am stronger mentally. I know the importance of nutrient dense foods. I am able to eat the foods I enjoy. I understand that I GET to workout. There’s never a right time and it’s never too late to start. We just have to suck it up and do it.

In July of 2016, I was just looking for financial breathing room + more accountability for my own fitness journey. ⁣ ⁣ I didn’t want to feel like the world was ending when I’d get a call that I needed car repair.⁣ ⁣ or not be able to breathe when our girls 🐾 needed to go the vet…⁣ ⁣ Being a teacher married to a teacher, our budget was T I G H T. Once I got a taste of what it was like to sleep better at night without worrying about how we’d get out of debt, I realized that I could really DO THIS so I ran with it.⁣ ⁣ I wanted to help ALLLL the people not just get in better shape and health, but experience how amazing it felt to do work like this…⁣ ⁣ Some of my team has been able to step away from their full time jobs like I did, but up until a month ago most were using their weekly coaching income to pay for niceties like vacation funds, elite childcare, paying off grad + medical school debt faster & home improvements...⁣ ⁣ But right now, so many of them have been furloughed from their 9-5 jobs…or have a spouse who can’t work & it’s stressful times. Trying to eat healthy while social-distancing, instead of stocking up on junky processed foods & spam like the world is ending?? ⁣ ⁣ I’ve got a recipe that’ll be a HUGE hit!!⁣ This recipe is tasty, packed with protein, goes a long way, & makes for quick snacks or meal additions later!!!⁣ ⁣ Want it?! I’m sharing it!! ⁣ ⁣ 𝗜𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀⁣ 🔹1 lb. raw 93% lean ground turkey⁣ 🔹½ tsp. sea salt or Himalayan salt, divided use⁣ 🔹½ tsp. ground black pepper⁣ 🔹1 large egg, lightly beaten⁣ 🔹½ cup whole-grain panko⁣ 🔹2 cloves garlic, finely chopped⁣ 🔹2 Tbsp. fresh parsley, finely chopped⁣ 🔹2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese⁣ 🔹2 tsp. olive oil⁣ 🔹1 medium onion, chopped⁣ 🔹1 (28-oz.) can crushed whole tomatoes⁣ 🔹1 tsp. dried oregano leaves⁣ ⁣ 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀⁣ 1️⃣Combine turkey, ¼ tsp. salt, pepper, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, parsley, & cheese in a large bowl; mix well with clean hands.⁣ 2️⃣Roll mixture into eighteen 1½-inch meatballs. Friendly reminder that eating healthy does NOT mean you have to have boring meals! Sure, when I first started following my meal plan, I kept it super basic. Clean eating was totally new to me, and it took me a bit to understand what was considered “healthy” on my meal plan as well as how to get all the necessary food groups in each day. Now that I’ve been following this plan for a few years, I know it like the back of my hand, which is why I have no problem switching it up and making delicious recipes that fit right in! Take this Thai Shrimp + Veggies dish for example. Absolutely delicious, nutritious, and filling - and I don’t even feel like I’m “missing out” on other foods when I’m able to craft yummy things like this. Just like usual! If you sign up for training and are at home, it’s appointment as usual. I prepare, purposely picking exercises for you. Your goals. Your needs. I make corrections, have you check heart rate and ensure we are meeting your goals, pushing you and ensuring you have correct bio mechanics. Middle picture was me in 2017. Last picture is me today. ⠀ It shows that you should always keep going. It’s going to be hard. You are going to have obstacles. —-I’m caught in limbo between giving myself grace for being unmotivated right now and trying to push myself to keep it business as usual. Like, do I pretend like this pandemic doesn’t exist? Or do I take it as a sign to slow down and put my goals on hold? Kinda both, and kinda neither... What keeps popping up for me is this: do I want to look back in 6 months and be proud of myself, or do I want to regret the choices I made? I’m taking it one day at a time, as I’m sure you are too, and keeping that question in my head has helped shape my day-to-day decisions. 🤍PROGRESS UPDATE🤍 • I’ll be completely honest, when I looked at the picture on the left I couldn’t believe that was me less than a year ago. I remember felling like I was trapped in someone else’s body. I didn’t feel like myself. I was just getting ready to move into college as a freshman and I made a promise to myself that day. I promised that I would do everything I could to feel comfortable in my own body. When college started, I remember feeling intimidated to go to the gym. I was out of shape, and I thought people were going to stare at me. Let me let you in on something: NO ONE GAVE A FCK WHAT I LOOKED LIKE! Everyone was there for themselves and no one cared what I was doing. Ever since that picture on the left, fitness has become a huge part of my life. I LOVE lifting. I LOVE how it makes me feel. I LOVE the changes I’m seeing. If you take away anything from this post, let it be this: EVERYONE has their own starting point. Seeing this two pictures side by side, I am eternally grateful to myself for not giving up and actually staying persistent throughout this journey. This journey is far from over, but the ride has been amazing.

Too bad this cardio can’t keep up with the calories consumed per fridge-trip.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ In all seriousness, quarantining is likely throwing a complete double whammy at your lifestyle.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Sitting at home all day = increased boredom = desire to snack = 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Sitting at home all day = feelings of laziness = desire to netflix = 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It’s your classic two-headed whammy.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This is unchartered territory, though. So it’s not something to get stressed about. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Increased stress will only add another whammy…⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Increased stress = increased cortisol = increased appetite = elevated intake of Cheetos⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Instead, find ways (other than eating) to keep stress levels low.⁣⁣ ⁣ Develop a solid daily routine and try to be somewhat active. ⁣⁣ ⁣ Try meditating or journaling.⁣ ⁣⁣ Go for multiple walks throughout the day.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Don’t watch the news every second that it’s on.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Workout at home (or outside) to the best of your ability.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ And when it comes to your meals, more times than not, include foods (with high protein/fiber) that are satiating to help deter you from constantly wanting to snack.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Other than that, just accept this new reality for what it is.⁣⁣

I’ll be honest . First few days when this quarantine became a reality, I felt sad and anxious. . I think the only people that weren’t were the toilet paper and soap companies. . Go figure . Anyway, back to what I was saying . Although I was in a negative head space, I know that sitting there and feeling sorry for myself wasn’t going to make anything better. . So I looked at what I could do with with the current situation and decided to focus my energy on creating and helping others whether that is clients/friends and creating content via IG or podcasting. . You can focus on all the bad right now or take this time to do something to improve areas of your life or the lives of others around you. . You can’t control covid-19 . You can control YOU. . Let’s come out of this stronger than before. . No motivation hype bullsh*t .
