I’m lucky I’ve never really needed to diet. You can hate me now, I know. 🍅👉😑 I’ve always been pretty active. I was a gymnast, played lacrosse, rode my bike a lot and I still love to roller blade and ice skate. But honestly I think I just have good genes. I was able to eat half a pizza or pretty much whatever I wanted for any meal and still be 110 lbs. I kind of knew that it wouldn’t last forever but why fix what isn’t broken? Well, after I had my first baby, I found myself with a lot of extra weight and for some reason being pregnant made it all stick to me. I had to spend the next year and a half getting about 40lbs off. What worked for me was being active and eating soup. I crave that full feeling and salads just don’t feel like a meal for me. I love salads but I would need a stack of buttered toast to go with one so, I switched to soups. Soups are super filling, yummy and are typically low on calories. A lot of them have veggies so you’re getting the nutrition you need as well. I was able to get back to my pre-baby weight finally (OK +5 lbs) and then got pregnant again! 😜 I did learn to control my portion size and calorie intake the second time around and had a healthy boy with only about 15 extra pounds to loose afterwards. I don’t know if my metabolism changed permanently after kids or if I’m just getting older (or a combo or both prob) but I can’t just eat whatever I want anymore that’s for sure. I’m trying to use healthier ingredients, eat reasonable portions and if I need to loose a few pounds, soup is my go to. Taking a break from all the pumpkin to actually eat something green 🤷🏼‍♀️ Lately I’ve been addicted to the kale Caesar salad from @sweetgreen but my wallet doesn’t seem to enjoy it as much 🙈 SO I made my own cheaper rendition with crispy chickpeas for some crouton action 👉🏻 Massage a large bunch of kale w/ homemade Caesar dressing: 2 tbsp. tahini + 1 tbsp. nutritional yeast + 1 tbsp. capers + 3 tsp. caper juice + 1 tsp. spicy mustard + 2 tsp. lemon juice + 1 clove garlic + 1/3 cup water + salt + pepper. Top with crispy chickpeas: Toss 1 can drained and rinsed chickpeas with 1 tbsp. olive oil + 1 tbsp. garlic powder + 1 tbsp. paprika + salt and pepper. I also added toasted pepitas for some extra crunch 🔥 This made 4 servings and stayed great in the fridge all week! 👌🏻

Simple ingredients but yet a kick ass Salad! Not messing about too much with simple ingredients is a great way to get your nutrients from your Vegetables. Potatoes get a bit of stick but they're actually a source of Vitamin C, which is just underneath the skin, so by using a peeler and not a knife to take the skin of is a great way to retain some of that Vitamin C, another way is to use New Potatoes and keep the skin on.

Another 5AM workout in the books 💪🏼 As a quad dominant individual I spent a long time doing hip thrusts and only feeling them in my quads. Playing with different stances, bands and set-ups have helped me figure out what works best for getting my glutes activated. Everyone is different though especially when it comes to FEELING your glutes. You must experiment with different exercises and positioning. My next program is going to be a little more glute focused to balance things out a bit and I’ll share more of that with you guys next week. _______________________________________ For now, here’s some of my favorite exercises that you can look up and try out: -Barbell Hip Thrusts (heavy!) -Frog Pumps -Feet-Elevated Glute Bridges -Reverse Hyperextensions -Cable Pull-through Happy Thursday 🍑☺️

Chicken Broccoli Alfredo Made by @juliasalbumblog Ingredients Follow Julia on Pinterest and Facebook to get more recipes and dinner ideas for your weekly meal planning! 10 ounces broccoli 8 ounces penne pasta (for gluten free, use gf brown rice penne) 1 tablespoon butter 1 tablespoon olive oil 1.5 pound chicken breast (1 large chicken breast) 4 garlic cloves, minced 1 cup heavy cream 1 cup milk 1 and 1/4 cups mozzarella cheese or monterey jack cheese, shredded salt and pepper, to taste Instructions Cook broccoli in boiling water for 5 minutes, drain well. Cut into small florets. Cook pasta al dente, drain. In a large skillet heat olive oil and butter on medium-high heat (until hot but not smoking) and saute chicken breast (seasoned generously with salt and pepper on both sides) for about 5 minutes on each side. Remove the skillet from heat, cover with the lid, and let the chicken rest, off heat, covered, until chicken is no longer pink in the center and cooked through. Remove chicken from the pan. Cut chicken into bite-size pieces. Add minced garlic to the same skillet and cook it in chicken juices and oil remaining in the pan, scraping up the chicken bits from the bottom of the pan, on medium heat for about 30 seconds until garlic is fragrant, making sure to avoid burning. Add cooked and sliced broccoli and mix in with garlic. Remove from the pan. To make the creamy sauce, in the same skillet heat up 1 cup of heavy cream until it boils. Immediately add the cheese and stir until melted and nice and creamy. Reduce heat to medium-low, and slowly, in small portions, add milk, constantly stirring, simmering, until nice and creamy consistency is reached.
