Hey y'all! I've had this thought that has been on my mind a lot lately and I've been feeling a need to share it, & I'm finally ready to put my message out there despite the vulnerability of it. In July I went to the #RISExDallas conference and heard the words of @msrachelhollis @mrdavehollis @jenhatmaker & so many others. And y'all, it lit a fire in my heart! It was like a wakeup call for myself. For the last few years, I've felt perfectly happy with my life.  I had a good job, amazing supportive boyfriend/fiancé/husband, the best friends & family a girl could ask for, & so much more! And yet, I was always feeling slightly discontent & like something was missing. At Rise I realized this was a desire for fulfillment! I knew in my heart that I had a greater purpose & that I wasn't fully using the talents I'd been given. But I'd never put ALL of my energy into going after my dreams & purpose! So, I decided that's exactly what I'd do! I spent intentional time on my goals (thanks @thestarttodaybrand for being such an amazing tool for this!) & really mapping out what I want for my life and how I'm going to make that happen. Now I am on this incredible journey & am in a season of massive change in so many ways! I am learning SO much about myself, about mindset & the power it holds, about my body & what it means to be truly healthy, about change and how to navigate it, & about finding self-love. I'm learning to be the best version of me not only for others, but for myself. Most importantly, I'm learning how to show up for my life because we only get one! I've decided to share this journey with y'all as I grow & learn all of these things! If I can help just one person to find inspiration, one person who sees a post and decides they want to show up for their life, one person who sees self-love & acceptance and chooses it for themselves, then I will have done my part to spread such an important message! If any of this sounds like where you've been, or where you want to go, stay tuned because I will be sharing more of my journey soon! I (Etta) have been focusing my efforts on qualifying for a level 3 in personal training which is round the corner as my final exams are finally approaching and Sophie has been SLAYING at being the best teacher at her new school. I live by this ☝️ Having gone through an awful lot, I’ve come to realise that I won’t be a person who dwells on difficult times, but rather will seek to learn and grow Often, when I’ve gone through something hard (particularly when someone else has been the cause of that thing), friends will say things like, ‘man, if someone did that to me, I would...’ ⚠️ And here’s the thing, I’m no pushover. But I also don’t believe in revenge for the sake of it - it will do nothing to make me feel better about the situation, and only stokes the fire 🔥 Instead, I try to live with compassion. To remember that I’ve only seen one part of that person, but I don’t know their whole backstory. I don’t want to lead my life bitter and angry, but with heartfelt compassion, kindness, love, empathy and forgiveness. Yolo 🤪💯 - Yeahhhhh that would be me.... hey 👋🏻🙋🏻‍♀️ - Soooooooo what a picture can’t tell ya..... I had been practicing some more advanced yoga positions, I decided to see if I could lead with my left leg. This was an unnatural pose, it didn’t feel great. So I listened to my body right? 💯 - Anyway turns out later on in the day I had done some serious sh*t and have badly aggravated the sacrum/lower spine. I can honestly say I’ve not felt pain like it. - Sitting, standing, lying the pain is REAL nothing is quite cutting it. - However been battling through still getting sh*t done... physio couldn’t do anything yet so that was a knock. Yet nope still carrying on. - Because what you do is you learn, you cope, you deal with whatever sh*t is thrown at you. Because I would rather and will always be that girl that strives for more, who pushes the limits and who challenges and takes risks. - Now I’m not saying hey everyone go and do some stupid sh.*t here 🤷🏻‍♀️ all I’m saying is that if you dig deep WE ALL have that strength & determination and no matter if something’s going your way or not.... we ALL have them moments. - I could have just posted this pic with a caption, portraying a ‘great’ day when actually the pain has pushed me to my limits at times. - So you want some real talk!!! Stop looking at pictures, creating a story in your mind. You are choosing to compare, analyse and judge. This Italian girl ♥️s pasta + I can eat circles around all y’all. SO. Here’s my tweak to make it just a bit more nourishing. Red lentil pasta (one ingredient) cooked al dente with mushrooms and kale sautéed in garlic with red pepp flakes tons of 🍋 lemon, a liberal glut of olive oil, salt, pepp and a sprinkling of fresh parsley and hempseeds. Use a wee bit of salty pasta water with some pastured cheese or nutritional yeast for a little sauce. Things to ♥️ about this: ✨Plenty of fiber from the lentils, veg and hempseeds ✨ hempseeds also add protein to this #plantbased meal ✨brain and hormone healthy olive oil in liberal amounts ✨ #15minutemeals roundtrip What’s your favorite pasta dish? 🌙 Maybe I can re-create it?!

Stess. Girls, I’ve gotta level with you. The past few weeks have been hella stressful and I haven’t been managing it well. Sleep is fine. Nutrition is good. Water, check. Movement, check. But still, I was feeling major tension in my chest. And it was not okay. You know that feeling? Shoulders, neck and jaw are tight and holding all the stress. It’s a hard feeling to shake even when you’re doing everything ‘right’. And maybe it isn’t one big thing, but a million little things. And you feel close to your limit, but how do you solve one million little things!? I don’t have the magic cure for this one. Because just like it’s a million little things to get here, there’s a million ways out. What I can say is that I took this weekend away for the first time in 6 years without my husband and/or kids. I laughed a ton, danced for hours, and although I came home tired, I feel like I’ve been recharged. The stress has lifted. The tide has shifted. So maybe laughter, connection, movement and rest is the antidote? “My wife put these pictures of us together and I just can’t stop staring at them with absolute shock and amazement. I can’t help but think about the path we were on just over a year ago. I was in the early stages of type II diabetes, we would always have to sit at a table at a restaurant because I couldn’t fit in most booths, we would have to buy an extra seat on the plane when we traveled so we had enough room to be comfortable, and the only Big and Tall clothing store I could go to with a decent selection was a 40 minute drive away. It seemed everything we did had to be adjusted due to our sizes. Now, just thirteen months later all of those problems have diminished. My diabetes has greatly improved, we can easily sit at a nice comfy booth in restaurants, we can fly on a plane without an extra seat or seat belt extenders, and I can buy clothes ANYWHERE (I went from 5XL/6XL to L/XL in shirt sizes). I am so incredibly thankful for this program. It has given us our lives back. It wasn’t always easy and there were ups and downs along the way (on and off the scale), but in the end every single bit of it was worth it. We all have a journey…some will be longer than others. Don’t be so consumed with the speed of your journey. All that matters is that you are heading in a better direction than you were before. Taking a different *perspective* 🙃 Last night I had concert tickets to go see Post Malone which I was super excited about - I had bought the tickets months back when I was still in a relationship that had introduced me to his music. 🎶 When I got to the venue last night I had a whirlwind of emotions thrown at me - yes I was excited to be there but at the same time I was hit again with memories that I'm having to let go of (it also didn't help that last time I was at that stadium I was with my ex). ⛈️ I could feel my head starting to spiral down a negative, sad and ungrateful path and that is when I 👏checked 👏 myself 👏 I took a breath. Acknowledged the emotion. Acknowledged what I could change (my response) and could not change (my situation) and I choose a different perspective - gratitude. 🌸 Gratitude for what I have. Gratitude for all the amazing opportunities I have going for me. Gratitude for the amazing people I have around me ❤️ That perspective shift changed my night - it could have gone two ways but I paused and I took a different perspective which was ⤴️ How can you challenge yourself to change your perspective ? ☀️ #chillvibezonly

Happy Tuesday! I’ve been a little MIA on social media as of late. My husband travels 2-3 weeks out of every month. So I find my self more present and off my phone when he is home (as I should be). Still sticking to my nutrition plan for the most parts. A few more treats here and there as hubby has an insane sweet tooth! Workouts the past few days have been family walks and working around the house. Weed pulling is definitely an arm work out! Back into the morning meltdown routine as of today! Only 3 weekends left until my brothers wedding! My goal is to be complete with phase 2 and I will be thrilled if I make it to the half way point! New phone arrives on Friday! People often tell me they don't have time to eat healthy, but this meal literally took 15 minutes from prep to the table! It's not about having tons of extra time, it's about being willing to simplify and work on the fly. I had cabbage and zucchini in the fridge. I had chicken already cooked. I had frozen cauliflower rice and frozen peas that I mixed and steamed in the microwave. While that was steaming, I chopped the cabbage and zucchini and put it on the stove. After my caul rice /peas were done, I reheated the chicken, and when that was done, I dumped the grilled veggies on the plate and added salt. That's. It. Going into my last week of being 22, so thought I'd share a few things I’ve learned over these last 358 days ❤️If you want something bad enough, you’ll do whatever if takes to get it ❤️Support systems are everything and then some; find people who believe in you (especially during times you might not believe in yourself) ❤️Its ok to walk away from things that don’t make you happy, even if you don’t have set plan of what’s next ❤️Dont assume things about people based on their social media. Some people re exactly how they appear to be, others are not ❤️I’ve weighed the most I have in my life and been the leanest I have in my life in just this year, and through that I’ve learned that my relationship with my body and food is still a work in progress, and that's ok ❤️Striving for perfection instead of continuous progression breeds disappointment ❤️Asking for help is not a weakness, its a strength. A lot can change in a year, and with all that has changed and all that I’ve learned, I can’t wait for what’s to come Jordan year I’m ready for you🥳😈2️⃣3️⃣

My goal was to gain inches and muscle in my lower body. For the last....idk...YEARS, I’ve wanted thicker stronger legs and a BUTT! A toned, lifted booty. I’m almost at the halfway point! I’ve gained 1 inch on my booty, my legs feel and look stronger... I have more energy than ever (especially when I teach Zumba) . I’ve been practising meditation now for a solid two weeks, go me, and although I still do have monkey brain, I can confidently say I really do feel better. To be with yourself, letting go of everything every morning focusing on a thought (for me is to clear my mind) to help train my attention and awareness, and to achieve a mentally clear, emotionally calm and stable state. “Belly”, “Cow”, “Moose” “Football head” - - All names I was called growing up and into high school. I’ve battled my weight most of my life, but the painful comments, jokes, and snickers I heard from as early as 5th grade, are still present even at 53😞 - - I know I’m not the only woman who feels like she’d be happier or more content if she was “just a little thinner”, or “just a bit more muscular”. - - I spoke with a friend at the gym who struggles as well. Body acceptance. My journey started with eating disorders.⁣ ⁣ It often seems like this super hard to achieve place only the “lucky” girls have.⁣ ⁣ You know, where one’s thoughts aren’t consumed with how your body looks or how you can (or think you should) change it?⁣ ⁣ When you accept your body, it becomes a vehicle that lets you enjoy life and spend your precious limited mental energy on fulfilling pursuits like passions, love, parenting, friends, playing, traveling etc.⁣ ⁣ But how do YOU get to that place?⁣ ⁣ How can we stop constantly thinking about how our bodies always look instead of what it does for us every single day?⁣ ⁣ When I was younger teen girl recovering from an eating disorder. I had discovered a way to take out my pain and depression on something I thought I had control over: my body. ⁣ ⁣ My coping strategy was not only not sustainable for the underlying problems, but it was also dangerous for my health. ⁣ ⁣ It wasn’t until I started a consistent workout routine, broke up with my toxic relationships and drowning myself in self help podcasts that I was able to move past discarding my body in such a negative, horrible way.⁣ ⁣ Wayyyy to often disordered patterns have become the norm in relation to our bodies.⁣ ⁣ Diet culture is built on the idea that certain bodies aren’t acceptable or good enough— we process this as a type of “fitting in”.⁣ ⁣ If I don’t look like “this” then I won’t be successful. If I don’t lose any more weight I won’t be liked. ⁣ ⁣ Ofc social media has done a great job in helping so many people but it also has created such a TERRIBLE example for young women.⁣ ⁣ Making us feel bad, then we spend money to “fix” it because advertising says we should and social media influencers say we should.⁣ ⁣ THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU IR YOUR SELF ESTEEM PEOPLE.⁣ ⁣ Please😟 we have to realize our lives are bigger than our bodies.⁣ ⁣ Honestly when I think about it all, there’s so much I had to UNLEARN about diet culture.⁣ ⁣ I used to be in tears of frustration about how I looked, letting my body image consume my days and thoughts.⁣ ⁣ •continued in comments•⁣ ⁣

My happy place!! I was getting ready for my next client the other day and took a look around and felt and sense of ease, happiness and excitement. . . I’ve moved locations 5 times since April 2018 before I ended up here (my 6th location). And I love it here! . . I’ve had my fair share of lessons but I wouldn’t change them for anything. . . If there’s one piece of advice I can give to those who are thinking about getting their own space or location, whether it be part time or full time, or for those who feel ready to leave a place where you’re working for someone else and want to start working independently and for yourself it’s this: “If you believe in yourself 100% go for it.” . . People often hold themselves back because they limit themselves and instill limiting beliefs within themself. This leads to them not making a change or decision which in turn can lead to regret or “what ifs.” . . You only have one life and it’s entirely up to you how you live it. Take that leap of faith and remember that at the end of the day you’re the only one who can change the course of your life. Everyone loves to blame others for what they did or didn’t do, when in reality it’s ourselves to blame. . . Self sabotage is one of the biggest things I’ve helped clients identify and overcome over the last 9 years. . . The biggest culprit is the “food as a reward” mentality. You’re not a dog. You don’t need a “treat” because you did a good job and want to reward good behavior. You are, in fact, negating the calorie deficit you created and that results in no weight lost. You need to create a deficit to have weight loss - it’s a simple math equation; more calories out than in equals a negative number and therefore a calorie deficit. Learn to reward yourself in other ways - a vacation, spending more time with your kids as you feel better, date night, new outfits, etc. . . The second biggest culprit is “more is better” mentality, where “more” is actually more of a deficit aka less food. Creating too much of a deficit results in burn out, cravings, fatigue, binge eating and the feeling of hunger. Less is truly more in the game of weight loss. You should only have about a 250 calorie deficit to see consistent, long term weight loss results. It will be slow progress, but it results in BEHAVIOR CHANGE instead of just a primary water weight drop, followed by rapid muscle atrophy. Your body favors fat in “starvation” (aka sudden crash diets) and will be inclined to store more when food becomes more available - to prepare for the next time that happens. That’s why every time you diet you are actually making it harder to lose weight the next time. . . If you’re sick of dieting and spinning your wheels TALK TO A PROFESSIONAL. Don’t just hit up the first person that looks good in a bikini. Check their credentials - did they ever take a nutrition course? Do they have a degree in nutrition or kinesiology or exercise science? What certifications do they have? . . The weight loss industry is a multi BILLION dollar industry. They don’t want your success...they want your money. If diets worked there would only be 1, but every year new fads pop up because someone saw a way to make some money off you. Break the cycle and do your research. Or at the very least hire someone who’s done the research for you and advocates for your HEALTH and not just your money.

I took this picture of my hand at @mamaspringbreak this spring. This is why I do what I do every day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want to help YOU cultivate the confidence in yourself that will allow you to live the life you want. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I focus my efforts on food + body image, because that is (in my personal + professional experience) the areas where confidence is drained most easily. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm here to tell you that you don't need to lose weight or eat all the vegetables to be confident. SUN DRIED TOMATO/FETA/ARUGULA PASTAAAA ✨ - This is probably one of the best pasta recipes ever! It’s so yummyyyy I could literally eat this every day. If u love ur pasta make sure to save the recipe for later! - ⋒ ingredients ⋒ pasta (any kind u like) arugula feta (I used vegan in this recipe but u can use regular as well) sun dried tomatoes Italian dressing mix (not a must) olive oil salt - Boil some water in a pot and add the pasta, some olive oil and a pinch of salt. (This pasta is served cold so it would be best to cook the pasta a few hours before it’s served) After the pasta has cooled down mix some of the Italian dressing mix with olive oil into the pasta and add some more salt. Then add as many sun dried tomatoes and as much feta and arugula to your liking. Enjoy! ☼
