But cutting out the sugar and refined carbs and adding lots of fat can prevent, and even reverse, pre-dementia and early dementia. Whether that involves deep breathing, meditation, or yoga, find something that helps you calm down. ⠀ ⠀ Lack of sleep can cause impaired brain function, leading to CRAFT syndrome, which stands for “can’t remember a _____ thing.” Studies show poor sleep becomes a risk factor for cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease. Aim for at least 8 hours of quality sleep every night.⠀ ⠀ We now know that physical activity can prevent and even slow down the progression of cognitive decline and brain diseases like dementia. I have recently discovered the miraculous healing and beneficial properties of Earth Clays and I am really excited to share them with you. Cilantro! I picked this up at @sbcfma, where the lovely scent of these fresh green leaves has been circulating so much lately! It’s rich in Vitamins A, K, C, as well as iron, calcium, magnesium and tons of antioxidants. I’ve read it’s a great liver detoxifier and also helps remove heavy metals. Whoa! I honestly used to despise this herb. I didn’t understand how anyone could eat it or why they would! How To Clear Negative Thoughts and Banish Overwhelm 🌟🌼 This is a practice to go to if you ever feel like your mind and heart are racing and you feel overwhelmed, confused and distracted. 1. Come to stillness. Stillness quiets the mind and it is the simplest and quickest way to take ones power back. Sit still, and notice how problems dissipate, your heart becomes restful and you reclaim a clear mind with clear thought. 2. Pray. A simple prayer with an intent of peace.. a sincere request to release your suffering and crippling repetitive thought patterns can shift your internal world from the inside out. I pray that I may find peace in my thoughts, my words, and my deeds. I pray that this peace is extended to others, and is mirrored in my thoughts, words and behaviour. Thank you for the medicine of stillness and grace. 🌼 Hoponopono also works miracles. 3. Draw. Drawing is an amazing way to release and direct energy and harness your focus in a light and simple way. Use colour and give yourself ample space to be wild. There are no rules when it comes to art. Just be intentional and on purpose. Does anyone else find rest hard? Or - put another way, any other Ennegram 3s out there? 😂🙋‍♀️ . . Leaning into REST has been what I've been getting sign after sign to do, yet, I'm always feeling like I "could" or should be doing things on my to do list. Probably seems silly to some, but this constant pull of feeling the need to always be doing, I'm realizing now, actually makes me LESS productive. Today I went to a tea shop and journaled (like PEN AND PAPER - no laptop business) for an HOUR😱. . I left feeling a deep sense of just "be-ing" that felt so strange, but soo good. We all have our "things" that we do to escape - drinking, food, drugs, and unfortunately some are just more societally acceptable. Like work and working out. But - we ALL have them. To some degree. The challenge and goal? To FEEL the discomfort. Lean INTO the feelings. And ALLOW them to be felt. Because there is no feeling we aren't capable of feeling. In fact- most of the times the avoidance OF the feeling is far more painful and destructive than allowing the feeling to come and go✨💫 at Portland, Oregon

What does health mean to you? . I think if I asked myself this question a few years back, my answer would be somewhere along the lines of "the absence of disease". But, alot of times we don't know we have a disease, until our body starts giving us signs and symptoms. . Now, health means healing to me. Health isn't a destination, you know, a place where when you finally get there, you're done. It's a constant, not a one time thing you do one day, or detox for 30 days, and your life supposedly changes forever, and then you go back. . Health is daily. It's healing daily. . Doing that 30 day detox is a jumpstart. It's a first step to that healing, to have health. It's the first step to change your life forever, where you have a new way of living. its when you incorporate healing daily, you add new healing foods or products to your routine. . ✨Health and well-being is a lifestyle where you're in a constant state of healing while preventing disease. ✨

Asking for what you need. I hit an emotional, physical and mental wall this week. Maybe it’s the full moon or maybe I just over extended myself but either way, my body was shouting for alone time and rest. So I followed suit. Went to the water and just let myself be. . . . . It’s so hard to ask for and honor what we need because so many of us have not had people in our lives capable of meeting our needs and as a result we learned to shut them down. Part of healing is learning what we need and learning how to honor it within ourselves and asking it of others. . . This can be terrifying when there has been a pattern of “you’re too much,” “what’s wrong with you,” or simply people disappearing. There is real threat, which can leave us feeling stuck in so many ways. . . . Start by noticing when you are shutting down your needs (ignoring hunger, watching one or 10 more Netflix episodes when you’re falling asleep, justifying someone’s shitty behavior) and ask yourself what’s the need and why am I not showing up for myself? Start by compassionately observing and maybe taking a small action. When we can learn to do this well, our lives begin to transform in ways we never could have imagined. And that is always the goal. ⁣BE YOUR OWN HEALER⁣ 🌱 ⁣ I made these fun and visually engaging cards for my students to help them learn how to use yoga, movement and mindfulness to change their physical and emotional reality. ⁣ ⁣ One side of the card has a feeling - sad, frustrated, impatient, etc - and the other side has a yoga pose, movement exercise, or meditation suggestion to help manage that feeling. There are two cards per feeling, and they're all color coded with little face drawings for children who haven't yet mastered reading.⁣ ⁣ The idea with these cards is to give children - or anyone who wants to use them - a sense of agency. I often talk with my students about "Big Feelings" - emotions or physical sensations that feel overwhelming and impossible to manage. These cards give children an easy, accessible way to process Big Feelings.⁣ ⁣ Sometimes just holding space for someone to acknowledge and name a Big Feeling can be powerful. Often a child in the midst of emotion will point to one of the faces on the cards and say "I feel like THIS." I respond by acknowledging their emotion - "I hear you saying that you feel angry right now" - and offering the recommended practice in a non-judgmental, compassionate way. Often this is enough to dramatically shift the child's energy.⁣ ⁣ I've been using these cards for almost a year, and the best part is that the students now know many of them by heart. I often observe them practicing independently, with or without the cards, in and outside of the classroom. I've even seen them recognize when a friend is having a Big Feeling and come to their aid with a suggestion from the cards. ⁣ ⁣ Maria Montessori said that "the greatest sign of success for a teacher... is to be able to say, 'The children are now working as if I did not exist." My goal for my students is to have this emotional literacy and sense of agency without needing me - or anyone - telling them what to do. The word ‘diet’ simply used to summarise our daily assortment of nutrients, or food intake, but over the years ‘diets and dieting’ have become a repetitive cycle of restriction, starvation, cravings, over-eating or binging, (maybe purging) and resulting guilt. When we don’t like our reflection, especially those thighs and that stomach, we tend to blame our body and put it on a diet. When we aren’t happy in our relationships, are struggling to fit in, aren’t enjoying our job, or feel uncomfortable in our jeans, we often turn inward and ask, What’s wrong with me?! Sadly in striving to fulfil our needs, dieting to ‘improve’ ourselves and feel worthy starts a journey of self-hatred and imbalance that only increases our sense of not being good enough or worthy. In our efforts to be ‘good’ by eating ‘good’ food, we often equate our self-worth with whether we’ve stuck to our guns and adhered to our willpower or not. Depriving, starving and restricting ourselves only activates our bodies stress response and disrupts our hormones, blood sugar, sleep, mood, concentration, weight and cravings. Diets activate our biological hunger and triggers all kinds of chain reactions. Don't diet. Eat real food. Trust your body. A friend asked the question if five years ago I would have dreamed of being where I am today. Heck No! I was a plus one at an event on Mindset in Henderson NV, where my initial thought was Vegas here I come 🌟 two weeks later I was downsized from my job and I laughed as I knew changes were coming and they wouldn’t happen there. It was definitely an interesting road from there but I wouldn’t change it as I know it’s why I am who I am. The event is where I got the idea that it’s ok to be yourself and to think for yourself. Literally. This took 5 minutes. AND its crazy healthy and tasted good! On a very rare night I'm eating solo and since I'm always cooking for 6 people, I never want to cook for myself. But 5 minutes it totally doable!🤣 I steamed a ridiculously large amount of spinach in a 1/4 cup of water while simultaneously warming up a @twrgrassfedbeef 100% grass feed sausage in a separate pan. Spinach was done first, so I drained it, topped it with a good amount of French butter, salt, and a squeeze of lemon. By then the sausage was warm, and I topped that with sauerkraut! It’s not really a secret. ⁣ ⁣ Oils have become a massive part of my family’s every day routines. ⁣ ⁣ 5 months ago I suffered my first attack of symptoms for a condition we still don’t have a name for. Adrenal fatigue- more technically known as adrenal maladaption or HPA-axis dysfunction is also common.⁣ ⁣ This occurs as a result of cortisol being unregulated. Our cortisol should be the highest in the morning. It helps us get out of bed. Then cortisol slowly falls the rest of the day and is lowest around 930 pm. ⁣ ⁣ Ever hear of a second wind at night? Your cortisol can spike around 10:30 or 11 so it’s important to be in bed by then. ⁣ ⁣ There are many stages of adrenal fatigue but most people don’t get referred or help until they are in later stages. ⁣ ⁣ This is not something that will show up on regular labs/bloodwork in your doctors office. You need a saliva test that looks at cortisol levels at 4 different points during the day. ⁣ ⁣ Depending on the stage of fatigue different supplements are used. ⁣ ⁣ What is recommended is significant lifestyle changes, lots of rest, reducing any stress, stopping high intensity workouts which stress the body, sleeping from 10pm-6am, reducing screen time, wearing blue blockers, eliminating caffeine and tons of self care. ⁣ ⁣ Leaving this untreated can lead to chronic fatigue, depression, other hormone and thyroid issues and other inflammatory diseases. ⁣ ⁣ This is very common in our society that glorified being busy, getting shit done and looking at rest and self care as being lazy. ⁣ ⁣ Even if people get rid of this, they often “relapse” because they just go back to their old ways- overworking, doing crazy high intensity workouts and restrictive eating. Overall not dealing with stress everyday. ⁣ ⁣ I would guess a lot of people reading this are in some stage of adrenal fatigue. It’s much easier to course correct in the earlier stages. ⁣ ⁣ It’s no fun to be exhausted all the time. This means, our energy is either outward or inward, depending on our own unique blueprint. For me, it was inward, slow, restful energy.⁣ ⁣ My most recent work of healing was rewiring the patterns and behaviors of isolating myself from friends, feeling lonely or left out by groups of people I cared about, and wanting to be seen and heard especially when I didn't have anything to offer whether that was a cup of coffee, spiritual advice and yes, even safe space. I felt my value as a friend, lover and space holder was what I had to offer, and not just the essence of presence. ⁣ ⁣ It reflected in the following ways. ⁣ ⁣ * My immediate friendships: I felt annoyed by their attempts to reach me. ⁣ * My romantic relationship: I felt he was having issues communicating with me openly. ⁣ * My work (which I LOVE and on any other day would fulfill me): I dreaded hosting my full moon circle and didn't take care of my body before healing sessions.⁣ ⁣ As a self-healer, I knew I needed to take radical ownership of my experience. What was the deeper need within me, in the shadows, that needed to be witnessed, embraced and honored? And as a co-creator of my reality, I knew the universe would provide the opportunity.⁣ ⁣ Last night, I had a triggered reaction to my partner having a friend over. I went into anger, frustration and complete shutdown. I refused to look him in the eye, despite his tender approach to having me join him in the festivities.⁣ ⁣ Once he left the room, I invited mySelf to dive in. Instead of letting the stories being written in my head take over and work myself up into more anger (i.e: he doesn’t care about me, he never fucking listens, we’ve had this conversation before…), I dropped into my body.⁣ ⁣ My body holds the wisdom, so I became present to her and listened.⁣ ⁣ 〰️continued in comments〰️ at Idyllwild, California

So painful, this, isn't it, lovely one? The awful shame and sickness in our gut when we know we've let down someone who trusts us. And it happens in the blink of an eye, the time it takes for the thought to flash into our mind that we should say this isn't okay, or refuse to laugh, or correct the perception. And then the moment is gone, and we didn't. And our cowardice feels like it defines us, like it's everything we are, and our cheeks burn at the thought of looking this person in the eyes again. But hey, know what? This is actually your finest hour. You know what you did, and it makes you feel so bad because you just realise this isn't who you want to be. Isn't who you know yourself to be. So here's the thing. We all do the best we can with what we've got till we know better. And then, when we know better, we have to allow that to give us courage. We have to find the strength to do better. That's it. That's everything So forgive yourself, tender soul. Let it pass, the shame and what you've just seen. Then go do better. Be that person. Grow, evolve and never look back. THE most important lesson I've learned in my Self-healing Journey. ____ When I was just getting into epigenetics, I had a really myopic view of my symptoms, genetics, and supplementation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Anything that felt "off" had to have an explanation and I had to find it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That mentality served its purpose for a while, bc it motivated me to learn, but it really wasn't conducive to healing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It wasn't until I truly had faith in my body's ability to heal itself that I ZOOMED OUT and stopped overanalyzing every single little change. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What I discovered was that there was usually a logical explanation, the feeling was temporary, and-- most importantly-- freaking out over it wouldn't have changed the outcome. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In fact, the more I zoomed out the more everything made sense on an intuitive level. There was never going to be one new tweak or one new lab result that brings the whole puzzle into clear view. Most illness is about your body's ability to repair itself-- not the specific symptom or lab value or supplement you're taking. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In my experience it's better to just zoom out.
