How do you show up in the world? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What is your default M.O.? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For all of the personal development work and yoga that I’ve done over the years, you’d think my default would be presence. You’d think it would be easy for me to access a grounded, calm state. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The truth is I know how to get grounded and be present, but it’s not my default. I am prone to anxiety. We call it situational anxiety. I manage it well. It only flares up when I get hung up on the intensity of my current circumstances. Most of the time, “I’m good.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Yet most of the time, if I’m really paying attention, there’s a slight flutter in my solar plexus. A feeling of mild agitation. A feeling I tend to ignore or drown out by engaging in activities that let me zone out - checking my phone and snacking are two big ones. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Does this sound familiar? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This has been an important lesson for me. When I find myself checking my phone every few minutes, or prowling the kitchen looking for one more snack, what I’m really doing is resisting feeling agitated and uncomfortable. I’m seeking little hits of pleasure so I don’t have to face the discomfort of what’s really going on inside. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These aren’t the worst habits in the world. The problem is, though, when I avoid facing my agitation, I’m just prolonging it. I’m living in a state of constant low-grade anxiety, and I’m moving through my life just a few steps away from feeling completely overwhelmed. When I’m living in this state, when I allow it to be my norm, I am so. much. more. reactive. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This might be the lesson of the year for me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If I want to be consistently calm and responsive, I have to be willing to sit with my agitation and release it. Not resist it. Not distract myself. Yesterday @susannabarkataki posed the question “what do you love about yourself?” If you’re not following her, please do - especially if you are a yoga teacher or practitioner. She raises some very important questions and educates around the decolonization + restoration of integrity in the world of yoga. Thank you Susanna!! 🙏🏼 ✨ When I read her post, I was sitting in my car having a bit of a moment. I was feeling confused, frustrated, scattered + unsure about a lot of things. When i read her question, the first thing that came to me was: I love that I love. ✨ I love so hard it hurts. Not just in romance, friendship or family but in life. The love I feel for the people, animals, children + even the Earth herself has me in tears most days. I know many empathic + sensitive people can relate to this. Yet to feel this kind of love doesn’t feel comfortable or even safe in a world like the one we live in. ✨ I had an a-ha moment recently where I realized that I had never felt safe to be myself here. So many walls and layers had been built up to hide my true essence because it never felt secure to express it. It literally felt like I would die if I was truly myself and it has taken decades of inner work to unravel this. Being a sensitive person in a mostly insensitive world can be challenging, yet the world so needs the gifts that we so often feel we need to hide. ✨ So this post is going out to all the other lovers, the lightworkers, creatives, empaths, mystics, animal lovers, highly sensitive empaths and introverts with gifts and love to share with the world: don’t hold back. The world needs your Love. The world needs your gifts. Seek out others like yourself to lean on for support when things feel intense or if you need a boost of confidence. Know that some of us who seem to be living very quiet, humble lives are doing major major work on the energetic realm to uplift the vibration of this planet. Don’t be fooled by the mirage of online madness. Your Love is needed here. Our Love is needed. I see you. I feel you. I Love you. Blessings for a beautiful day!! 🙏🏼✨💞😁🌈

how did sensitivity shape your experiences growing up?⠀ ⠀ learning about what it means to be an HSP opened the floodgates of understanding for me ~ suddenly so many experiences, and how I felt or acted at the time, made perfect sense. I moved to a rural island seeking illumination. My main focus was my own personal healing as well as my family line. When I moved here I was deep in a “lone wolf” phase. I painfully ended a romantic partnership in dec 2017 and I think I cut off about a dozen other relationships in 2019. It’s taken me 2 years to feel myself again. 2 years of intensive re-programming & self investigation. All to remember who I am. New friends are starting to come in, as well as deepening connections with existing friends & family. I feel the shift & promise of what’s to come-like glittering lights in the night sky. It’s close, it’s here. It’s now. * * * The more authentic & vulnerable I am in the space-the more soul connections show up. I’m grateful for you all🦋if you are here, you’re in my soul circle. I deeply believe that I connect with people for a reason. I know that all of you are lightworkers, healers, empaths & highly sensitives... I am an activator and serve to help others remember themselves, to help discern the path. We must all walk the path ourselves yet we are together on this journey. We are here to help create this new reality. First we elevate our own personal energy. Then we share our gifts with the collective. We are all lights in what often seems like a dark time. When I first meet someone I feel them with my energy. Before I knew I was an empath I would do it but didn't understand what I was doing. When I would walk into a new meetup group where I wouldn't know anyone I would be quiet ( which is not me) and with my energy go around the room and stop on each person. I went with a friend once to a new group and she noticed what I was doing and asked me about it. It makes sense to me now. I was feeling the energy of the other people. It helps me to understand the energies and what types of people.
