Client Mike here on a recent shoulder session. With Mike having a bit of lower back trouble recently, we kept all the exercises isolated, utilising a bench to do either seated or lying variations of rear, front and lateral raises, taking all tension off the lower back with every movement. There's always a work around for any injury, always something we can do. at The Fitness Rooms

Interesting find here: In a study from the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (Antonio et al., 2014), resistance-trained men and women who "overate" protein (5.5x the recommended daily allowance) at 2g/lb/d and thus calories related to the control group (0.8g/lb/d), gained no body fat during the eight week study. Theoretically, this could be due to increased protein utilization with resistance training, in addition to the overall thermic effect of food seen with the consumption of protein, especially whole food protein (20-35%). Therefore, if building a nutrition plan to optimize body composition, it would be advantageous to increase protein, which also dramatically increases satiety and therefore, overall dietary compliance. at Refined Fit

A massive goal of mine right now is to increase my core strength so I tried some ab role outs yesterday. This is a fantastic exercise when done correctly. - The biggest mistake people make with this is allowing the lower back to arch, this takes most of the load off the core and puts a lot of stress on the lumbar spine. Making the exercise dangerous and a little pointless. - The easiest way to fix this is with a posterior pelvic tilt, do this by squeezing your glutes and tucking your pelvis forward towards your ribs. Have a read what she’s changed her life. - - I started my weight loss and fitness journey 18months ago, I was oblivious to how big I had became. When I reached the dress size of a 26 I realised I could not go on any more, so I took it upon myself to join slimming world. After losing a couple of stone I noticed that I was becoming wobbly so decided I needed to tone up whilst on this journey and thats when I got in contact with Jamie to help me a long the way. I have now lost 4 and a half stone taking me down to a size 16/18. My confidence has grown through training with Jamie and I have become fitter and more shapely. He is fun but firm pushes me to my max but we have a great laugh along the way I never thought I could ever enjoy exercise, but Jamie has made me see that I couldn't imagine my life without it. There have been times where I thought I was going to die lol but Jamie has been there to support me every step of the way. How pretty are my new jeans 👖 from @dorothyperkins??? It's still crazy to me that I can just walk into a shop now and buy from the shelves!! I've always HATED shopping and only ever did it at desperate times 🙈🙈 I've been used to wearing only jeans from a supermarket because I could buy a 24 and dark colours at that!
