As we age, we stop producing the hormones that are responsible for driving the bone building bus so all that stops. However, the cells that eat bone needed for cellular processes continue business as usual. This is why so many young perimenopausal women have osteopenia which later becomes osteoporosis. Men get it too but ya don't see it as much since they tend to have denser bone structure. The only way to build bone once meno/andropause hit is by strength training. Form check 🕵️ for @sammsquats_ ’s hip thrust, from an aerial angle. We noticed some things, 👇read more below. ➖ • FIRST, watch her take over Muscle Tech’s Snapchat today, a day in the life of Sam! Snap: “realmuscletech” ➖ • Overall very pleased with Sam’s progression- She’s been putting in the work and gradually increasing the weight. She did 285 lbs x 6 reps like a champ last week. Next stop’s 315 lbs (3 plates), but even now that's just a pit stop for her, my eyes are on 405 lbs (4 plates) 😄😄. • But as the load’s increased, so did the pain of the barbell if not placed properly, even when using a squat sponge. So coming out of the hole (bottom of the range of motion), Sam’s been pushing the bar down to the top of her quads, where it should sit. However, here we notice the bar’s imbalanced. You could catch this from the side angle, but aerial ✈️ makes it abundantly obvious. For all compound lifts, I recommend having someone record you from front, back, side, and 🔝 • Speaking of increased weight, especially to you ladies, really strive to graduate from the dumbbell or straight bar thrusts. That’s child’s play, trust me you can do much more weight 👊👍 ➖ • Also her right knee isn’t as flared out as her left. This isn’t surprising because it happens in her squat too, which she’s been addressing. We need to fight to re-train these patterns/habits over time. • Play with your foot placement- Closer/farther from you, wider/narrower, flat foot / on your heels- all make a difference wrt the ratio of loading of glutes/hamstrings/etc. • More aerial form checks to come, stay tuned… at Gold's Gym

Hip-thrust🍑 - En øvelse som øker i popularitet, ikke helt uten grunn. Øvelsen er en av de som aktiverer rumpa aller mest, derfor godt egnet til nettop; bootygains! 🍑 - Men øvelsen kan være vrien og få til, spesielt når de fleste gym ikke har utstyr beregnet for øvelsen😏 - De fleste tyr da til en vanlig fribenk, men for de fleste blir det alt for høyt. Du skal treffe benken rett under skulderbladene, og for min del blir det 2x stepkasser (se bilde 2). Så kommer smertene fra stanga, og her er det flere løsninger, jeg bruker en matte som jeg bretter dobbelt så langt det går, men på 160kg+ må jeg supplere med mer padding (bilde 3). - Tips: se rett frem under hele øvelsen, IKKE i taket 💪🏽

One of my favorite booty activation exercise that I like to perform on the smith machine and bench. It gives full range of motion and I find it far easier than with a bar bell, plus I find I can go heavier which is great if I'm working on a hypotrophy phase. Getting back into training for jumping and bounding in netball these are fantastic to help activate and strengthen the booty and prepare me for the explosive jumps I need in the sport. I love them for shaping and targeting the butt all round and the lower abs a hip flexors get a great hit as well. Still couldnt squat or deadlift. Replacing them with some thrusters and split squats. Trying hard to maintain them lower body mass with the hip injury. Today's training consisted of : 3×10 75kg hip thrusts 4×5 65kg weighted dips 3×20 split squats 3×10 25kg weighted pull ups I still feel a slight snap while doing them split squats. Any other alternatives for quads? I just think hip flexion movements greater than 90° would actually aggravate the hips. Happy Hump Day 🍑 May your peaches grow as your cheeks glow from all that soreness and torture from hip thrusts. I love doing high volume for hip thrusts at about 60%-70% 5RM and usually hit 20 controlled reps. Sometimes I'd go even lighter and do partials or 20second holds at the top to get that BURN 🔥! There is NO one or right way to grow those glutes so if anyone tells you to go heavy but you can't feel them working, lower the weight and learn to activate them first.
