Last month I went to a new naturopath who recommended that I reconsider taking the birth control pill for adenomyosis. She called it in, just in case I needed it. To me, taking the pill is like a shiny street drug that promises to instantly make my period problems disappear without a care to my long term health. ⠀⠀ I’ve been down that road of going on and off the pill to get heavy period relief, and it took SOO long once I went off the pill in the past to stop loosing hair, get my mood back, and get my thyroid and adrenals functioning right again. It's crazy to see how different I look and how much I've changed in just a year 😕 swipe right (I've put a side by side picture in my stories). The picture at the end is me one year ago. I weighed more, had shorter, brighter hair, more skin issues and a lack of confidence in myself. These days I have control over my anxiety, I love my natural brown wavy hair rather than hating it. I defend myself and what I believe in. This year I've even started venturing into clothes more, I've worn and loved jeans and skirts for the first time and I'm less scared of my body shape being on show 🌿 I'm a whole lot more positive and I'm feeling strong inside and out 🌞🌱 * Granted some things are still the same. We're still going through fertility stuff and my PCOS still feels like something I have no grasp of BUT life is a journey right? The menstrual cycle is a collection of bodily and hormonal events that occur monthly or in a cyclic pattern, thereby being called the menstrual cycle. Quite frankly most days I can’t even recall what I had for breakfast! Memory loss and brain fog have filled me with self doubt and I always have this awful feeling that I’ve forgotten something important, like where I’ve parked my car. Last week I had absolutely zilch clue where I’d left it and actually became quite distressed when I couldn’t find it. I walked around the car park for 23 mins! How is your brain fog and memory? Hey guys, it’s been a while 👋 I took a break over the last few months to trial some different things to help with my PCOS symptoms. . After some research I decided to go gluten and dairy free. At first I enjoyed the flexibility of eating higher carb fruit & veg and other products such as bread & crackers, but then I started to miss cheese and it eventually led to old habits and cravings returning. Before I knew it, I gained 7kg’s 😳 . If I’m totally honest, I was sick of meal prepping, sick of thinking about food and trying to make food photos look good enough for the gram. I needed a break! I’m a mum, I work full time - life is bloody busy! . But I got over myself 🤣 Meal prepping is my thing, I love making healthy meals and fuelling my body with the right nutrients. I enjoy a low carb lifestyle, I’m comfortable with it and I know I feel great eating this way. . There were some women who were early 40s preparing and wanting to learn more about the peri menopause. Others were in their late 40s and early 50s, some were on HRT and able to share their experiences with different types of medication they had tried and how it had transformed their lives. Other ladies had decided they wanted to go through it without medication, trying alternatives supplements, food and natural medicine. We talked openly about how menopause plays with our minds, makes us forgetful, angry, tearful, how many thought they were going mad, all the joy had left their lives and how they no longer wanted to go out.
