No turning back now... . . I’m on day 3 of the @medicalmedium Liver Rescue Cleanse and i guess this is happening 😬... . so far I’ve… . 🤦‍♀️ botched a batch of salad dressing by adding 1 tsp of cayenne instead of 1/8 of a tsp. . 🤦‍♀️ been the girl that calls @wholefoods to make sure the yellow squash I had delivered is organic #firstworldproblems . 🤦‍♀️ And I spilled spirulina powder all over the bathroom floor (I thought they were caps) 🤷‍♀️. . So, so far so good 👍. . I imagine I’m feeling like how you may have felt following one of my meal plans, the RESET or any of the recipes on my blog... . I'm remembering what it's like to be new to all this. . And mostly, how changing what you eat is freaking hard. . Reminding myself that 👉if it changes how you feel, and what you're able to do and get out of life though, then it's freaking worth it.👈. . We put so much faith in "the perfect vitamin" and "the adaptogen" and "the (fill in the blank) diet". And it's so disappointing when they don't fulfill their promises. The thing is...no vitamin will fix depletion from lack of sleep. No extreme diet will support the body in the long run. What if we put our faith in something a little more balanced, basic even? Wholesome diet. Good sleep. Exercise. Wholesome lifestyle. Calming practices for the mind. You know, the boring stuff! That's where wellbeing is born. That's ayurveda. And oh, does it feel good. It's cozy. Rhythmic. Grounding. Balanced. Energizing. Subtle. People fall in love with ayurveda because it feels right and feels good. It helps us support our bodies, minds and spirits in the way they're meant to be supported: in line with nature. Animals and plants don't need to learn ayurveda because they're already instinctively implementing it. They follow nature. They rise with the sun and sleep at night. They eat seasonally. They take time to rest. Humans are a little more complicated. Humans have free will and become slave to their aversions and desires and make choices that aren't always the most supportive of their physical and mental wellbeing. Humans need ayurveda to guide them. Ayurveda's kind of like a giant self help book: "How to Take Care of Your Body, Mind, and Spirit. Written by Mother Nature". Wow! What an extraordinary resource. So where can you read this book? I'm teaching a 12 week online course for women called Learn Your Body starting June 10, in which I teach an abundance of wholesome ayurvedic practices and wisdom to ignite wellbeing. Muffins de limón Ingredientes • Ralladura de un limón verde. • 350 gr de mantequilla 🧈 • Stevia (depende de la marca añades la cantidad de gotas proporciónalo a 1tz y 1/2 de azúcar) • 1 cucharada de vainilla • 6 huevos • 2 Tz de harina de coco y/o almendra. Nota: si queda muy espesa la mezcla agregar 1 Tz- 1-2 Tz de leche de almendras o coco. • 1 cucharada de polvo para hornear. • pizca de sal de mar o del Himalaya Procedimiento: 1. En grasa los moldes de muffin o coloca papel de encerado para muffins sobre los moldes y precalienta el horno a 200 grados centígrados. 2. Mezcle la mantequilla a temperatura ambiente con la ralladura de limón posteriormente agrega el stevia y mezcle y agrega huevo por huevo 🥚 mezclar uno por uno. 3. Ya que esta homogeneizada la mezcla agrega la harina, polvo para hornear y pizca de sal de mar o del Himalaya. Nota: si la mezcla queda muy espesa agrega 1/2 Tz de leche vegana y mezcla y si es necesario agrega más. 4. Vierte la mezcla sobre los moldes y hornea a 180 grados centígrados durante 45 min. 5. Do you drink nut milks? This here is home-made walnut milk! Recently, I started making my own nut milks. Why would I do that when they’re plentiful and cheap at every grocery store? ⁣ ⁣ 1. It’s easy. ⁣ 2. I wanted to control what’s in my milk. ⁣ ⁣ I started making my own milks when I realized that even though nuts are naturally high in magnesium, their store-bought counterparts do not yield adequate amounts. And the nutrients that are in there were added. Hmmm...I have a blender so I decided to get a bigger bang for my buck. So here’s the low down on magnesium, the wonder mineral: ⁣ ⁣ ✍🏽It helps you relax and sleep better. A deficiency can cause difficulties with both going to sleep and staying asleep.⁣ ⁣ ✍🏽It can help to improve your mood and aid in depression/anxiety through its role in pathways involved in mood regulation. ⁣ ⁣ ✍🏽It is a smooth and skeletal muscle relaxer and can help to reduce your pain and migraines. ⁣ ⁣ ✍🏽It plays a role in regulating your blood pressure.⁣ ⁣ ✍🏽 Your body cannot produce magnesium so it must be obtained through either food or supplementation. These are some of the basic tests you can get done with the help of your doctor to see if you have insulin resistance. The symptoms mentioned in precious posts can definitely help but having the numbers on paper just always make things more certain and clear. Some labs do offer fasting insulin tests too which can be useful in measuring Glucose/insulin ratio. Highly recommend working with your doctor to get tests done.

let’s talk about fruits and cold beverages . This açaí bowl with apple, grape and kiwi was my post workout meal. I ate it with sugar coated corn flakes. ⁣ ⁣ In traditional Chinese medicine, cold and raw foods weakens the stomach, impairs digestion. Raw fruits should be eaten alone, and in a few portion.⁣ ⁣ Howerver, I was craving some cold sweet meal. I quited smoke recently, so... that old yin energy that I used to have, and there’s no longer with me, provoqued a temporary inbalce between yin and yang.⁣ ⁣ Now, that I no longer smoke, and my energy is coming more and more balanced, I limited fruits to two small portion per day. When I first started out on my vegan journey 11 years ago I pretty much survived on store bought hummus and cans of black beans. While Ive since expanded what I eat quite a bit, I still probably eat my weight in hummus every year (not exaggerating). ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Making hummus that mimics the fluffy yet creamy qualities that store bought hummus has been a task. But after multiple attempts, and many failed batches of gritty dense hummus, I’ve discovered some tips that help to make creamy, light & fluffy hummus. Get ready for the best hummus of your life. ;)⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝐓𝐈𝐏𝐒⁣⁣ First tip- Overcooked chickpeas. Boil the chickpeas with baking soda with 20 minutes.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Second tip- Don’t skimp on the tahini. Use 1/2 cup per can of chickpeas. Whole Foods 365 brand what I usually use because its easy to get my hands on, but Soom Tahini is by far the best quality. You can buy it off amazon.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Third tip- Use ICE cold water. I don’t know why, but it makes a huge difference in the texture. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Fourth tip- mix the garlic and the lemon juice together and let sit for a few minutes prior to adding into your hummus to mellow out the garlic flavor. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐎𝐔𝐒 𝐇𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐔𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐏𝐄⁣⁣ 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬⁣⁣ 1 can chickpeas⁣⁣ 1/2 teaspoon baking soda⁣⁣ 2 lemons (squeezed for the juice)⁣⁣ 1 garlic clove⁣⁣ 1/2 teaspoon salt⁣⁣ 1/2 cup tahini⁣⁣ 3 tablespoons ice water⁣⁣ 1/2 tsp cumin⁣⁣ 1 tablespoon olive oil⁣⁣ Paprika for garnish ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬⁣⁣ -Combine lemon juice, garlic, and salt to a blender, blend, and let sit for a few minutes.⁣⁣ ⁣-Add the tahini to the blender and drizzle in ice water until the mixture is smooth.⁣ -Add the cooked and drained chickpeas (first tip^) and the cumin to the mixture. I can’t tell you how many people I talk to that say they don’t like vegetables. I hate to say it, but it’s kind of one of those things you need to teach yourself to like. When my child says he doesn’t like vegetables, it doesn’t mean he gets away with not eating them and we as adults can’t get away with it either. I encourage you to learn different methods for cooking them and different t herbs and seasonings. Thyme and rosemary and basil oh my. Why a raw carrot salad, or even simpler, a raw carrot a day has helped two of my PMS symptoms, breast tenderness and headaches ⇣⁣ ⁣ I had learned about this simple trick awhile ago, but only recently actually committed to trying it out, after dealing with breast tenderness each month since July of last summer. Breast tenderness is most commonly arises in the luteal phase, usually due to excess estrogen in the body - something that is very common these days given our environments and exposure to things such as plastics. When your liver isn't working at it's best, or the body is overburdened by estrogen, it gets reabsorbed and stored in the body, so it's important to make sure your body is eliminating it as well as it can.⁣ ⁣ Raw carrots contain a unique fiber that binds to toxins, in particular excess estrogen in our intestines. Dr. Ray Peat found that women were able to reduce their problematic estrogen levels, and improve the progesterone to estrogen ratio by eating just one raw carrot a day. It also contains high amounts of fiber, which assists the body with bowel movement, another way the body gets rid of excess estrogen and toxins (remember you want to poo at least 1-2 times a day)⁣ ⁣ Here is the quick recipe for the raw carrot salad: ⁣ ⁣ ✧ Wash your carrot, but don't peel it. Grate your carrot lengthwise. Add in a drizzle of olive or coconut oil, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, and some Celtic sea salt to taste. Mix it up with a fork, and enjoy. Super simple.⁣ ⁣ ✧ If I don't have time to grate the carrot, I'll just have a whole carrot raw, usually while I make dinner, as it's best on an empty stomach.⁣ ⁣ Have any of you tried this trick yet? Ok guys, let me introduce you to one of my new favorite items, Soy Curls! I know, the name doesn’t do it justice 🤣. They are literally just dried organic soy beans that you soak for a few minutes and then heat in the skillet. You can add whatever seasonings you want, depending on your dish. 👮‍♀️ I’ve heard the term food police before and laughed! I may act like that at home with my kids and sometimes my husband but that’s only when they have been consistently eating junk foods!⁣ ⁣ 🙄 I often hear “oh you must eat so healthy all the time”. Or people will ask me if I ever eat pizza, hamburgers, Mexican, cookies, etc. ⁣ ⁣ 🙋🏼‍♀️ Yes, I do! I think I’ve had a couple of cheeseburgers throughout this Corona virus quarantine and definitely had some pizza and Mexican food! But I don’t do it several days a week. I try to eat healthy 80-90% of the time because it makes me feel my best. Then I allow myself to indulge 10-20% of the time. Sometimes it makes me feel bad but other times it doesn’t. ⁣ ⁣ ✅ Nutrition Health Coaches are like everyone else but may have learned how to balance a healthy lifestyle that is sustainable and works for them better than others. I don’t believe in omitting a certain food all together forever unless it affects your body in a negative way. For instance, dairy is not my friend but I can eat a little on slice of pizza occasionally and be fine. But I can’t eat pizza and ice cream one day then a cheesy casserole the next. I will suffer for days. And that doesn’t mean you can’t if it works for you!⁣ ⁣ 🤷🏼‍♀️ Do you think we are judging you for what you eat? No way!! I may fuss at a close friend or family member occasionally if they are doing something that is truly bad for their health, I can’t help that because I truly care for them! Do you get "hankerings?" Henry's Restaurant was a weekly spot where my women's study met. Haven't been there in 7 weeks. The 3 keys to seeking results (at least in my professional opinion) will always be Consistency, Patience and Honesty with oneself. . 1) Consistency leads to habits. Habits form the actions we take every day and regular action leads to CHANGE. . 2) Patience. This is a tough one, mainly because we all want overnight results. Unfortunately, those type of results are ALWAYS short-lived and only leave us disappointed, frustrated and most importantly, in the same place or worse off than when we began. It’s so important to change our mindset and start appreciating the journey itself that leads to the results. . 3) Honesty with oneself: definitely the hardest one! As humans, we are hard-wired to create the perfect impression of ourselves even when things aren’t right.
