Last night I made @medicalmedium’s Apple DF “ice cream” as a snack! ••• 1 Apple diced and frozen 1 banana frozen 2-3 medjool dates, pitted 1 tsp vanilla extract 2-3 tablespoons of water *I haven’t needed to use water when I make a single serving, but last night I made 4 servings and needed to add 1 tablespoon of water to help it blend.* ••• Place all ingredients in blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Add as little water as possible and scrape down the sides as needed. Serve immediately after *ours held up perfectly, 30 minutes after making, while we set up outside.* ••• I then topped each “ice cream” with 1 @traderjoes Gone Bananas bite, pecans, while chocolate chips, and 1 @steveandandys Oatmeal Raisin Cookie (GF and DF)! It’s so easy to get caught up in the everyday trials of life. We often focus on the things that we are struggling with. With COVID, shut downs, job losses, etc. it’s easy to forget that we are still blessed. So everyday,I ask that we focus on 3 things that are going right in our lives. I’ll go first. 💫 . . 1️⃣ My health is improving. So many things about my health that I took for granted years ago. . . 2️⃣ My boys are happy, healthy, and safe. . . 3️⃣ I have enough will, and support, to take myself through anything. Friends. Family. . . 4️⃣ (I don’t follow directions well...not even my own 😂) I have food, shelter, and clothing. . . 5️⃣LAUGHTER. I am thankful that I laugh more than anyone that I know. Para tu mente, tu comida solo son calorías que se traducen en miedo, dudas e inseguridad. 🥑 Ok i won’t lie... I’m getting really good at breakfast quesadillas. I whisk two eggs in a bowl and place into a pan coated with olive oil on medium heat. When the egg is almost cooked through, but still wet on top I place a @sietefoods almond flour on top. Then flip, fold, and cook until both sides of the tortilla are browned. I had an avocado with @cholulahotsauce, on top, on the side. ••• I LOVE @sietefoods products because they are completely gluten free and grain free - this also means no corn which is a big trigger for my eczema! They are also dairy free, soy free, and non GMO. I’ve tried a bunch of their stuff. When it comes to their soft tortillas I’ve tried the cassava flour and almond flour ones. Both were delicious and had the consistency/taste of a real tortilla! Omg! Thanks to @thatcleanlife I’ve found the solution to banana “nice cream” texture. I usually add liquid to help it blend, but then it’s too runny. If I freeze, it becomes a hard block. BUT add a little vodka and it freezes perfectly to scoop. Yay! Been using That Clean Life to create a meal plan packet for an upcoming event in my health coaching practice and ❤️ as always. I shared a lot about my personal story this week (you can find in my highlights!), and the resulting feedback was a good reminder that there is power in sharing my story. So many out there have similar stories and I’m passionate about breaking down stigmas and letting you know that it doesn’t always have to be this way. You CAN get better. It takes commitment, hard work, some detective work, some luck, and most importantly, support and guidance from others who understand your struggle and can help you. I’m feeling more at peace and aligned with my values than ever before. I’m proud of myself for taking a leap over a year ago to follow my gut (hehe) to explore turning this whole gut health obsession of mine into a full-fledged career. Over a year of @nutritionschool and lots of hard work, countless coaching hours, and time spent manifesting and creating the life I want, and I’m the closest I’ve ever been to living my dream. It’s an honor to do this work. I love helping people to feel heard, held, and supported as they navigate the often confusing and murky waters of candida diets, gut health, and learning how to implement healthy habits to create lasting change in their lives. I’m feeling especially grateful today, as I literally just opened up my schedule this last week to take on more clients and make a shift toward this becoming my full-time career, and almost immediately had 3 new clients sign on to let me in to be a part of their healing journeys. I am excited and oh so humbled to be trusted with this important work. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know my love of letting my mugs speak for me 😉 After years of being sick, I believed there was another way to live. I believed in myself. I believed I could go back to school while navigating new motherhood. I believed I could become a health coach. I saw and have held on tight to the future that I believed I could have. And I continue to be overwhelmed and overjoyed as I see it unfolding before my eyes. What do you believe that YOU can do? Go do it! ❤️

My kids were so excited when daddy came home with peppers and lettuce today!... and you know how happy I was 😉😁 . These kids know that greens keep them clean and healthy. They are raised by food scientists and a health coach who explain the importance of food choices. . They know to monitor their sugar intake based on how they feel. . They also eat chicken nuggets, Mac n cheese, and all the things kids enjoy. But we talk about it in a safe and open way. . Don’t be afraid to talk to your kids about their food. I hear too many people say I don’t want to give my kids a complex. They should just be kids. But we are raising adults who need to understand these critical things. Just like how to be grateful for simple things and to get outside every day because nature is good for you. . And for all us cooking more at home these days - hooray for that extra vitamin L (love). 🤪 How to make sense of things when your mind is running wild 🤪 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I literally refer to my journal as my “little magic book.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you want to know why??? Because EVERY time I need answers, I go my journal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✅ Mind racing? Journal. ✅ Feeling lost? Journal. ✅ Trying to work through a decision? Journal. ✅ Tough day with your inner critic? Journal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Journaling is such a simple but powerful tool for connecting to your intuition which, as you probably know by now, I’m all about 😉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s like having an in depth conversation with yourself. Nobody can judge you or take your words the wrong way, you can just sit down and write straight from your heart, without fear. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’ve ever poured your soul out into your journal, you know how cathartic it can be! The act of writing your thoughts helps you make sense of them, and the message that you need to hear usually has a way of making it’s way onto the page. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Another reason I love my journal is because it’s like a time capsule. I can look back in my journal three years ago and be transported back to that exact version of myself. I can read what I was thinking and the problems I was facing (or on the flip side, really beautiful memories!) in my own words. It can be hard for a lot of us to remember just how far we’ve come, and your journal can give you a direct measure of that growth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’ve been considering journaling and think it might be something you could enjoy, consider this your sign! 🍳 Had to jump on the sweet potato “toast” trend! Simply slice sweet potatoes into toast like disks, and toast until fork tender. I then layered a home made guac spread (mashed avocado, lime juice, red onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder), arugula, and 2 fried eggs on “toast”. Hormones and your Gut.⁣ ⁣ When you balance your hormones, you balance your entire state of being.⁣ ⁣ Did you know your gut plays an integral role in influencing your hormones? ⁣ When you think about hormones, you don’t necessarily think of the gut.....⁣ ⁣ Your gut bacteria 🦠 (microbiome) has so many important functions. Including: digestion, generating and synthesising essential nutrients, controlling your moods (gut-brain axis) by releasing chemicals that regulate them, your metabolism and your immune function!⁣ And this same microbiome also assists in regulating your levels of oestrogen!⁣ ⁣ So if you have specific bacteria and/or pathogens out of balance in your gut, they can cause excess oestrogen (known as oestrogen dominance). As mentioned in previous posts, excess oestrogen leads to painful, heavy, clotting periods. Mood changes, fibroids, weight gain around the hips, fibrocystic breasts and so on.⁣ This means an under-functioning gut, can impact your hormones negatively.⁣ ⁣ Overall, 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 is multi-factorial. There are so many systems in place that need to function and work together.⁣ ⁣ Balancing your hormones for optimal health is achievable. One thing I definitely want my child to know is this⤵️⤵️⤵️ . In this chaotic modern world, our fears are leading us, telling us not to do things that will separate us from our comfort zones. We feed our fears by listening to them no matter what and our fears feed us with unreal thoughts and emotions. We even don’t want/like to talk about our fears!🤭🤫 . Amygdala, a small almond like part of the brain is responsible to respond to our fear and primitive thoughts. 🧠👀 When its triggered, hormones like cortisol, adrenaline are released. Digestion shuts off. Fight or flight mode is on. We are so excited, we hear our own heartbeats. Now we have to run from that tiger to survive!🏃🏻‍♀️🐅 . Fear usually seems to be something negative but when it protects us from that tiger by triggering right parts of the body, it becomes something crucial to survive! In our modern lives, we are not running away from a tiger but we are running away from people, stress, judgements, guilt, shame, chaos and mist importantly OURSELVES. Our feelings of escape are so strong and so real that body perceives it as an alarm and gives exact the same reactions as it gives towards a tiger 🤯🤯🤯 . That is why mindfulness + stress management, meditation and breathing right is so important in our daily modern lives. If we try to control and manage our uncomfortable feelings, then fear becomes something positive. It helps us to thrive! ➰Think about your fears and try to understand the real cause, what is it actually holding you back? . ➰What’s the worst case scenario that can probably happen? ➰Is that really gonna happen? ➰If yes, what’s worse? that happenin or dying with regret of not doing? . And you my child; . 👁‍🗨Let your fears be a compass showing you where to go, not a reason for you to stop! 🙏🙏🙏

🔍 What I wish someone had told me in my search for happiness 🔍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Being an athlete taught me a lot of really valuable life lessons, one of them being the value of hard work. With my background came the understanding that the more work you put in, the better you become. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I may have left the sport, but the values definitely didn’t leave me! As I began my journey to find happiness, I tried to progress the only way I knew how. By trying as hard as I could. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I forged along like this for years, thinking that I had to do and be all the things in order to be happy. Do you know what came as a result of pushing?? Me, stuck in a job I hated but was too afraid to leave. I felt anxious, frustrated and inadequate: always wondering what I was doing wrong and if I was doing enough. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had spent the last five years doing everything in my power to try and figure my life out, and I really hadn’t progressed much at all. It took me getting to this point to finally throw my hands up and SURRENDER. I stopped focusing on where I was trying to go and started focusing on where I was and how I could make myself feel better. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Once I shifted my focus from my external world to my internal world, my life started to change. I started connecting to my heart and my body and listening for what I needed. I started to trust myself. And most importantly, I started to feel happier. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I spent all those years white knuckling the reigns of control because I didn’t think anything would happen if I let go. Here’s what I learned about that: if you want to cultivate more happiness, peace and ease, letting go is NECESSARY. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Once you relinquish the need to know how everything is going to play out, life starts to flow... and you find that you’re actually capable of enjoying the ride. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’re ready to quit searching for happiness and want support so you can find it within yourself, DM me for more info about my 1:1 coaching program would be a good fit for you! 💕

Talk to your vendors they’ll be happy to share their favorite recipes and their farming practices. Grocery stores are often limiting in their offerings. Let’s talk MORNING ROUTINES. Setting up time for myself each morning allows me to take on each day with joy, energy, and clarity. Each morning I try to incorporate 1-2 of the following that nourish my mind, body, and soul: MIND: journaling, mantra and intention setting, and meditation. BODY: stretching, walking or light exercise, and eating a nourishing breakfast (and a greens drink as pictured). SOUL: manifestation work (visualizing my goals and best self), reading or listening to inspirational content, cleansing my apartment with sage and palo santo. I wake up early to allow myself time to ease into these practices, and go with what feels right in the moment. Balance. ⁣ ⁣ This is a word many people strive to achieve, but sometimes it feels impossible. How can everything we love get the perfect balance of our time and energy? ⁣ ⁣ I prefer the word "integrate." Integration allows me to take my family, my business, my values, and my beliefs and integrate them together into a life I LOVE! ⁣ ⁣ This picture reminds me of that gift. ⁣ ⁣ I was getting ready to train on a large national call, but before and after the call, I was able to hang out with my kiddos and be there to hold my son when he needed me. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. This weekend is my daughter’s birthday and obviously it’s Memorial Day weekend too and it’s got me thinking about what it means to make something feel, “special,” when a lot of the things we’d usually turn to, parties for example, aren’t available right now. . I’ve decided that being intentional is what makes something feel special. Being intentional about drinking a cup of coffee outside for example, feels different than guzzling it while unloading the dishwasher. Being intentional about letting my daughter choose tacos for dinner feels special even though we eat tacos every week. Being intentional about using ingredients that make my body feel good feels different than mindlessly eating whatever is left in the pantry. . I hope you have an intentionally magical weekend in whatever form that takes for you. ☀️ . And if that looks like an arugula and goat cheese salad with fresh cherries from the @aim_farmers_markets Bounty Box you can find this recipe by Googling, “NY times arugula, goat cheese, and cherry salad.” I added blueberries and used red onion from last week’s Bounty Box in place of tarragon. 🍒

🍤 Red Curry Shrimp Bowl! Decided to support a local Thai restaurant for today’s late lunch. Fun fact: I lived in Thailand for 3 months while student teaching in 2018. Because of this I was hesitant to try this Thai restaurant because I felt like there was no way it would live up to the food I ate while in Thailand. I was sorely mistaken! The authenticity of the food is spot on. So spot on this is my second time ordering this dish this week 🙃 I like what I like! ••• A majority of Thai food is based with rice products and coconut milk!
