I had a bit of a ‘cheat day’ today since my family brought chipotle, 3 bags of chips, and my favorite pastries for dinner (this is what happens when I’m on a stretch of night shifts and my self control is impaired 🙄). . BUT I’m very proud of my fasting over these past few days, it’s been surprisingly easy and has brought me more in tune with knowing when my body is actually hungry. Tomorrow is a new day!

I can’t believe I’m saying this- The Holidays are coming! And with them being right around the corner, you will likely find yourself on the road, or in the air heading to spend time with family and friends. Your healthy lifestyle doesn’t need to come to a grinding halt just because you are on the go. Here are a few simple tips to keep you healthy and fit while traveling this season. 1️⃣Pack healthy snacks and stay up on your probiotics. Simple but necessary! 2️⃣Choose when you will indulge. Enjoy yourself while on vacation, but make sure each time you indulge, that it is truly worth it. Don’t munch all day long on things you don’t love. 3️⃣Plan for workouts.If you are staying at a hotel, hit up the gym, every day you are there. If you are staying at someone’s house, bring some resistance bands, your tennis shoes and some at home workouts you can do while gone. It’s that time of year when the cravings for hearty and soul food kick in. Instead of defaulting to empty calorie dishes that are full of gluten, dairy and sugars take some time to sit down and peruse Pinterest for healthier options on old favorites. There is always a time and place to indulge in Beer Cheese Soup of course, but lets keep those meals for cheats/treats and reinvent some of our standby’s with healthy options. Here is one of my favorites: “Healthy Heart Turkey Chili” Some chili recipes out there take hours in the slow cooker, but this one is doable in just 30 minutes OR you can leave it on for hours on low. That's one of the reasons I love it so much. I can "forget" to put dinner on that morning yet come 5 o'clock, still pull this together in time for dinner. Ingredients 1 lb lean ground turkey 1 can rinsed black beans 1 can rinsed chili beans 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes 2 cups crushed tomatoes 2 TBSP crushed garlic 1/4 cup diced white onions 1 TBSP oregano 1 tsp chili powder (add more to increase flavor to your preference) 1 tsp sea salt ---------------------- Directions 1. Brown the ground turkey in a skillet and add in the garlic, onions and oregano. 2. In pot (or slow cooker) add the rest of the ingredients and simmer while the turkey is cooking. 3. Add the turkey mixture to the pot and stir and bring to low boil. 4. Once the mixture has boiled, reduce heat to low and allow to simmer for about 30 minutes (or cook in crock pot on low for 2-3 hours). 5. Serve hot and enjoy!

I've scaled way back on weights but I'm still loving back day with my FASTer Way to Fat Loss clients. It's the second most important day of the week especially as I prepare for labor and delivery. ☺️💪🏻 On one hand I am counting down the weeks, and on the other hand I'm still in shock that we have a third on the way and panicking because I have literally nothing ready for Baby Girl's arrival. We move into our new home in TWO weeks and then I'm going to 100% furnish the house and start buying newborn gear. 😜👶🏼😁

October themed breakfast anyone?! 😜🎃 #brunchforme . I used to be the person who ALWAYS had to have a big breakfast to function. Now I skip my breakfast 😱and don't eat until Noon! GASP!! . Yep, I'm a HUGE fan of Intermittent Fasting, which means I eat in 8 hour windows and then fast for 16 hours most days of the week. . It's something that hasn't always worked with my schedule but it works very well with my lifestyle now and SWEAR by it! . I know it was a huge component to getting my body lean for my last competition and helped me maintain at a healthy weight post show. . IF isn't for everyone but it can be a great way to rev your metabolism while losing fat & maintaining muscle mass! . I still get to eat my FAVORITE breakfast meals like this pumpkin oats & carrot juice combo 💁🏼but I just enjoy it a little bit later in the day! . Questions on Intermittent Fasting?? Feel free to ask! New study on Intermittent Fasting!📚⠀ ⠀ For those of you not familiar with it, Intermittent fasting (IF) is a dieting pattern or nutrition strategy that involve cycles of fasting and non-fasting. ⠀ 📉 It can be done during a calorie deficit but not necessarily.⠀ 🕕 There are different combinations possible, like fasting one/two days a week or fasting 16-18 hours a day etc.⠀ ⠀ 🔬 A new research published in the journal Cell Research looked at the effect of fasting on the metabolism. ⠀ 🐭 They used two different group of mice for a sixteen week experiment: ⠀ - The first group was fed for two days in a row and then one day fasting⠀ - The second group was fed everyday⠀ - The calories fed were the same for both groups. ⠀ ⠀ 📊 The results are extremely interesting. The IF group showed lower weight but also a different body fat composition with increased brown fat tissues, known for burning energy and producing body heat.⠀ ⠀ 👨🏻‍🔬 They basically proved that intermittent fasting help the browning of white fat tissue. ⠀ This is important because white fat is the "bad" fat, associated with health related risks like development of obesity and type 2 diabetes.⠀ All of this, eating the same amount of food during the period! ⠀ ⠀ More and more evidence are backing up IF lately. I loved the FASTer Way to Fat Loss strength training workout today. It felt GOOD to lift. In the third trimester I am scaling back on my weights and transitioning to a focus on high volume training (more sets/reps with less weight). Still feeling the burn and working up a great sweat!

These are getting harder. 😜 I swear it's amazing how much I popped in ONE week. Baby is 14 inches long and weighs almost 2 pounds. She moves NON stop. She was kicking me HARD for a full hour last night and kept me up. 😂 And I went from barely feeling pregnant to being uncomfortable almost "overnight." The third trimester is no joke. I have a baby appt tomorrow -- can't wait!

I’m a big fan of starting my day off with a glass of water— and lemon water is where its at. Not only because it adds a “wake me up” kick and flavor burst but truly because there are many benefits of drinking lemon water regularly. Lemon water helps improve digestion and boosts the immune system while hydrating the body. It helps alkalize the body and aids in weight loss, reduction of inflammation and boost energy AND brain power. Try warming it up first thing in the morning and skip the coffee. Put your mug of 8-12 oz in the microwave for a minute and 20 seconds then squeeze half a lemon into the cup and stir it up. I can’t go a day without something sweet. It’s low carb day and all I want is chocolate so homemade coconut milk yogurt mixed with @vega_team clean chocolate to the rescue! Have you made your own coconut yogurt yet? It’s so easy! 1) Grab a can of coconut milk and shake shake shake (I used @thrivemkt) 2) Pour coconut milk into a glass jar and add the contents of your probiotic (I used @silverfernbrand) 3) stir with wooden or plastic spoon only. 4) Cover with a thin kitchen towel, I used my nut milk bag. 5) let sit on the counter for at least 24 hours (no more than 2 days) mine was about 28 hours 6) stir if water separated from milk (wooden spoon). 7) place in fridge to thicken (I added 1 tbs of @vitalproteins gelatin (not peptides). If you find this is grainy after sitting in the fridge overnight you can blend with immersion blender or blender. Why I like this - it’s perfect for low carb day because it’s lots of fat and no added sugar! I mixed 1/2 cup of the yogurt with 1 scoop of @vega_team clean chocolate protein and added about 2-3 tbs of @good_karma_foods flax milk. OMG why have I not tried an iced BPC until now?? It was SO GOOD 🤤 I love keto but I actually don't like the taste or texture of a lot of fat. Fathead fam...I did it! Behold my very first fathead pizza 👅👅👅 9+ months keto and I had never made one before 😶😶 I used coconut flour and can't believe how spongey and springy the end product was -- just like real dough 😍😍 ~~ I rolled the dough out into a perfect, large circle only to realize there was no way it would fit in my condo oven (fail)...so I transferred it into this smaller pan and used my can of tomato paste as a mini-rolling pin 😭😭😭 In the end, it all worked out 😉 ~~ P.S. HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU FAST? This is a tricky question as it does not have a black and white answer. ... ... ... We all know there are several ways to practice "IF" such as 16/8 (16 hour fast with an 8 hour eating window), 20/4 (20 hour fast with a 4 hour eating window), 5/2 (which is two 24 hour fasting days in a 1 week period), just to name a few. ... For those entering the world of intermittent fasting assuming that are doing it for weight loss purposes, here's my recommendation: fast 5 days a week at a 16/8 split Tuesday through Saturday. ... Sunday, do not fast, make this your cheat day, have a big breakfast with you family and splurge, have some pizza, enjoy the day, BUT STOP EATING BY 5:00 PM as this will lead you to a 24 hour fast on Monday. You will not eat until Monday at 5:00 pm ( Keep this day carb free just protein, fats and vegetables. ... Even with this schedule you will need to mix things up a bit, keep the body guessing, examples being, higher and lower calorie days, no carbohydrate days, heavy training day's, light training day's and so on. ... Six days a week until your goals have been reached, once they have been reached it now becomes about maintenance. I personally fast 4-5 days a week at this point and easily maintain 3-5% body fat year round. ... Ok ladies -- here's the deal. We hit our cap goal for the FASTer Way yesterday!!! However, I am feeling very generous today and I know several of you were still on the fence. Let's do this!!! • “I joined the August FWTFL group knowing that I was ready, both mentally and emotionally, to make some big changes. Two small kids, a full-time business, and just life in general have been so busy for the past several years that I have not consistently made the time to prioritize my own fitness and health. I knew I needed structure and accountability, but also the freedom to LIVE life and enjoy the things that are important to me (such as a glass of wine on occasion, dinners out at restaurants with the family, and fun social events) without constantly feeling deprived. I’ve tried those other exercise and food plans and just could never make them “stick” long-term because they did not fit my life. I am so thrilled with this entire program. I have loved learning how to track macros, carb cycle, fast, workout efficiently and effectively, and make intentional choices with my food so that I could hit my goals and still have the flexibility to enjoy my birthday weekend festivities, lots of dinners out with friends and family, and my favorite foods from time to time. I am also so surprised at how much I have enjoyed the workouts in the program. I have never incorporated weight-lifting in my exercise routine and I am LOVING it! I haven’t missed a single workout in six weeks, and I can’t believe how quickly I have seen significant changes in my body (hello, biceps!!!!!). In the past six weeks, I have lost 7.2 pounds and now weigh LESS than I weighed when I got pregnant with my first child. More importantly, I have lost 7 ½ inches from my chest, stomach, and legs, and I have gained MUSCLE tone! My clothes are fitting so much better and I have much more energy and confidence.
