Another Saturday means another cleanse day for me🌈🌟 If you’re still unsure about what “cleansing” is and why it’s so essential to our health, here is a simplistic explanation: Think of your body as a swimming pool, after all, our bodies are made up of approx. 65% water anyway right? Those who own a pool know first hand how hard it is to get the PH balance🤯 If the pool water is out of balance and there are impurities floating around, the PH balance is thrown off. Unwanted bacteria and algae start growing, the water is often acidic and it looks dirty, to the point where it’s unsafe to swim. Our bodies work similar. When we are out of balance, through consuming too many toxins via foods/beverages and taking in many impurities from our environment, you can only guess what happens.... We become more acidic internally. We don’t function optimally, we feel gross, bloated, sluggish, tired, or maybe even get sick more often🤒 When we cleanse, our bodies become balanced again and free our bodies of accumulated gunk🤢 This is why I love deep cleansing. It’s about cleansing your body from the inside out and it feels pretty 🤬 good!!!

#FacetoFaceFriday #Thanksgiving edition. Left → Thanksgiving 2016. I was already down 50 lbs which was great. I had been working out, but I was on a mealplan I really disliked that wasn't making me feel good. I was all sorts of messed up. I ate like crap this day and I felt like it too. This photo was taken 1 month before I officially started #keto. Right → Thanksgiving 2017. 11 months on keto. I couldn't be happier. Yes I've slipped off the wagon. I've even dove headfirst off of it a few times and laid on the ground screaming about not wanting to get back on. Shit happens, nobody said it was easy. When it comes down to it, I love keto more than any lifestyle I've lived. So today I am on the wagon, I feel great, and that's what is important to me. I love *seeing* the changes, but nothing beats feeling great alongside them.

I've been struggling with multiple injuries over the last year so I've decided to literally go back to basics with my workouts. I have a weights programme that's rehab based and doing the couch to 5km running programme; which has allowed me to focus a lot on my form when I run by relaxing my shoulders and engaging my core and glutes. Because I've scaled back a lot on the intensity and frequency of my workouts, my progress has been a lot slower than what I'd like. At times it can be frustrating as I know how much stronger n fitter I was prior to my injuries. It's so easy to get caught up in the weight loss cycle of feeling motivated and then discouraged if the scales don't change, especially for someone like my self who has struggled with my weight forever. I have to keep reminding myself that slow progress is still progress and focus on the non scale victories. The keto/low carb way of eating makes me feel less bloated and sluggish. My workouts, particularly my runs, helps me sleep better, reduces and allows me to work out my frustrations and stresses; as well as giving me a sense of achievement when I've pushed through when I want to stop. Beef Bourguignon is my favorite dish to make for people I love. If I’m making this for you odds are you’re in good with me. It’s concentrated and complex love in a pot. But it’s easy to make. It takes time so I like to make a large batch and freeze leftovers. My version doesn’t have root veg like Julia child’s, tho you can add it I suppose. I like it to be about the marriage of meat and wine, pure. Veg also takes away salt and flavor from meat which I don’t want, I just want few aromatics to enhance the wine reduction. Make this-you will want more. Beef Bourguignon ***Ingredients*** 5-6lb brisket cut into about 2X4” chunks 4tbsp cornstarch (30carbs for whole batch) 4tbsp vegetable oil, plus extra for frying 2large onion, finely minced 1cup Port Wine(Don’t skip this) 2 bottle full bodied red wine(Cab,Bordeaux) 2 whole garlic bulbs 1 whole celery stick cut into 4pcs 2 small carrots cut into 4pcs 2 bay leaf Few sprigs thyme Few sprigs flat leaf parsley 2 Knorr Rich Beef Stock Pot or 2tbsp concentrated broth flavoring 6 unsmoked bacon ***Directions*** You need a Nonstick pan w sides high enough to hold 2bottles wine, and a large heavy crockpot. 1)Cut meat to 2x4 chunks, cracked pepper all over, dust all sides w cornstarch (I use a mesh colander), cook in med/high heat pan w little oil cook til crusty brown all sides(do in batches not to crowd the meat), transfer into crockpot. 2)Mince onion finely(will disintegrate into sauce), caramelize in same pan until sweet, scraping meat drippings. Split garlic in half across cloves, add to pan faces down. Add port, stock concentrate, wine. Tightly tie up w twine into bundle:thyme, bay, parsley-and add. Add pieces of celery and carrots. Cook down the wine to reduce down a third of it. Throw away celery and carrot. Pour into crockpot, float bacon on top, close lid and into oven for 3-3.5hrs at 300. at Williamsburg, Brooklyn

What’s up fam? Long time no talk, hope y’all have been well. I’ve been making an effort to spend less time/energy on social media lately, hence the lack of posts. ​Are you consuming enough or even too much protein? . . These researchers put this age old question to the test by manipulating their subject's protein amounts. While 1 group consumed a moderate amount of protein, they had another consume a relatively high amount (over 1 gram / lb. ) and then observed their ability to recover from a short term resistance protocol. . . Best part is, this study was controlled for total calorie intake in addition to controlling nutrient timing. The results? Statistically, the high protein group had really almost no benefit over that of the lower protein. . . But of course, that's far from conclusive. There are some specific pieces of information that must be considered when prescribing protein dosages, even after reviewing this paper. . .
