The tesco granola square for lunch was REALLY challenging 😥 it was super super nice but i did panic quite a bit because of the unknown calories and i googled the calories after ☹ it was a lot less thsn i had estimated but i still feel SO SO SOOO GUILTY OMFGG 😣 which is really annoying because this lunch was so tasty 😍 im just really worried ill go over my bmr today..i normally only eat my bmr and i know ill lose it if i go over 😟😭 in so annoyed that my ED is acting up because i was actually???? Mama came out for her second run! 30:30 intervals and look at that average HR - 147!! • This past summer @muscleprincessruns encouraged me to try running in a way that sat my HR between 135-145 every run. It sucked. I shuffled and walked a lot and hated it, but it works! My average HR in a 30 min run has gone from 170 to 147!! • This is the first training block where I actually want to PR. I don’t want to just finish. I want to run 4 days a week and strength train and finally get under 3 hrs. it’s finally fall in Texas 🍂👩🏼‍🌾🎃 aka it’s in the 50s, so that means I can enjoy this pumpkin spice overnight oatmeal bowl in a cozy sweater and not be sweating😅 Question of the day: What’s your favorite fall food? . Pumpkin spice overnight oatmeal: 1/2 cup almond milk 1/2 cup oatmeal 1/4 cup @icelandicprovisions yogurt (coconut yogurt if DF) 1/4 pumpkin purée 1 tbs maple syrups 1/2 tbs pumpkin spice 1 tsp vanilla extract 2 tsp chia seeds . Combine all ingredients, store in the fridge overnight. omgahhhhh I’m seriously obsessed with this PPSL (paleo pumpkin spice latte) that I made last week. I’ve had it a couple times since then and it’s rockin my world. . . . In case you missed it, here’s how you make your own: . . 👉1 packet of tulsi & astragalus adaptogen coffee by @foursigmatic (you could also use chicory root or brewed black tea) 👉1 Tbsp organic pumpkin purée 👉 1 Tbsp @vitalproteins collagen 👉 1 Tbsp @nutiva coconut butter 👉 couple dashes of ground cinnamon 👉 couple dashes of ground ginger 👉 one dash of nutmeg 👉 one dash of all spice 👉 14 oz warm water 👉 1 tsp raw honey or maple syrup (optional but I’ve made it both ways and a hint of sweet gives it that traditional PSL taste) . . First time trying sweet potato in my yogurt bowl and definitely won't be my last 🤤. You know what question I notice comes up a lot with women- “how do I curb my hunger?” and you know what I say- eat! It’s true, the one surefire way you can curb your appetite or hunger is by eating 🍕🍔🥑🍠. Yeah, there are tricks to make your body think that it is not hungry, like drinking water (or a carbonated beverage) but those are just tricks. Why do you want to trick your body when you can nourish it instead? So if you find yourself truly hungry, eat. No more tricks, ok? . So what is in my bowl: I added some fresh raspberries, sweet potato, a drizzle of @jemorganics salted caramel cashew almond butter, some pomegranate, and @beekeepers_naturals bee pollen. Me trying to explain what I do to the French people I’m staying with: Me: I’m a dietitian who helps people have a better relationship with food, stop feeling guilty around food, etc etc. Them: 🤔🤔🤔 A dietitian friend and I were talking about this recently, as she’s had the same experience when traveling abroad and telling people she’s a dietitian. In most of the world, food is just food. Meals are social occasions where people break from their day and enjoy food with friends or coworkers or families. Food is something to be enjoyed, its sustenance. It’s not good or bad, healthy or unhealthy. It just is. Unfortunately, this is not the case in America where diet culture reigns supreme! Hopefully one day we will get to a place where I’m looked at with 🤔 faces in the US but for now I’ll just keep on fighting the good fight against diet culture and our f-ed up societal norms about bodies and body size 👊🏼 P.S. one of my favorite things about France is that one of my most-loved meals - cheese and bread and fruit 🧀🥖🍎 - is literally a daily staple here 😍 That plus a local brewed beer and the best butter I’ve ever tasted in my life (seriously, there’s nothing like it) made for a damn good lunch yesterday 🙌🏼⠀ #intuitiveeating #traveleating #frenchfood #cheeseandbread #nondietdietitian #downwithdietculture #haes at Sarlat-la-Canéda

A useful tip from Reddit.com . This is a practice I use with my own clients. It’s a simple psychological shift. . When we say, “I can’t have ____” we’re operating from a place of scarcity. Instead, I would encourage you to rewrite the narrative, give yourself permission to eat whatever is tempting you, but with the caveat that you’re going to wait until you’re hungry again to eat. . This mindset shift means you’re now operating from a place of abundance instead of scarcity. . When we feel deprived of the foods we love, these foods breed obsessive thoughts and have power over us. By giving yourself permission to eat them, they lose their control. And as a result, become neutral. . Think about it. There’s a reason why you don’t obsess over chicken and broccoli. And that’s simply because you haven’t attached moral judgment to these foods — you allow yourself to eat them freely without the guilt and shame. . If you want to feel in control around ALL foods — you have to neutralize them by treating them all the same. No restrictions. No guilt. No self-loathing. . In a healthy well-balanced diet, there is room for ALL foods. The desire to overeat them in one sitting dissipates, because you can always have more later. That’s abundance! . What about you? Here we are, two weeks with no gym, no macro tracking whatsoever, and down 2 pounds🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ Africa was unreal. Some stress and feelings of being overwhelmed along the way, but an experience I will NEVER FORGET. Something I learned: you have to live fully. Embrace opportunities. Couldn’t wait to taste test one of these gf pumpkin muffins before I snapped this pic 😅 What can I say, patience has never been my strong suit. • Baked my first batch of pumpkin muffins this season- I’m sure many more will follow because they’re my absolute favorite. These are the semi homemade version and let me tell you, ya really can’t beat em cuz they’re sooooo easy. Love them w a cup of coffee and my fav @bonappetitmag on the side. • I used @traderjoes #glutenfree pumpkin bread/muffin mix which only requires water, eggs, and oil. I only had olive oil which ended up tasting just fine 👌 I added lots of chopped pecans and chocolate chunks to the batter before baking. They baked at 400 degrees for 22 minutes and came out perf 💕 at Westwood, Los Angeles

When was the last time you did something without fearing what other people will think or say? 🌱 Here’s a pic of me making a fool of myself in public and I couldn’t be happier. 🤷🏽‍♀️We had just finished skiing and my legs were tight and sore. I wanted to appreciate the crisp winter air and scenery by grounding myself in my yoga practice. I am by no means a yogi but I include stretching and deep breathing into my routine as a way to manage my anxiety, stress, and muscle fatigue. 🔆With the change in the weather and the fast approaching holidays I figured it was smart to start off the week talking about the cold and ways to prevent it. The cold comes in many shapes and sizes and is different for everyone. But I'm talking about general ways to strength the immune system to prevent catching the cold in the first place other than washing hands and covering your mouth and drinking enough water. First we’ll start out with your diet, there is a reason that colds come around when the holidays do and one of the reasons is because the foods we eat during the holidays. I'm talking the sugar, dairy, and alcohol we consume to celebrate the holidays. These have been linked to the decrease in strength of the immune system. Now, I'm not saying to completely cut these groups out of your diet all together but eat them in moderation. Remember the 80/20 rule. To go with this your 80% should be foods high in omega-3s Vitamins Ds, and Vitamin Cs. These are all know to help strengthen the good ol' immune system. One food in particular that has been used to strengthen the immune system is honey which contains small amounts of hydrogen peroxide to help fight off/ prevent infections. Along with all these taking pre and probiotics are easy ways to boost the immune system as well as implementing the superfood bone broth into your meals. In order for the immune system to work at full capacity the body needs to rest. This means getting PLENTY of sleep!! In order to get enough sleep you have to reduce the amount of stress hormone released in their body. Stress is detrimental to ones health, and is something that is not easily controlled (believe me!) This is why exercise is also very important to ones health in which it reduces the amount of this stress hormone released into the body. Immune system support is vital to ones health, especially in the fall and winter. Implementing just a few of these into your daily life can help tremendously! Everyday is feeling more and more like fall with the turning leaves and chillier weather ❄️ It’s really getting me in all the feels. I’ve recently noticed how much my relationship with food has changed for the better. In the past, I think a big problem for me was having this sense of control by controlling what I was eating. I cared way too much. But nowadays I have times where I could care less and I just eat whatever is the most convenient. And that means everything!!! I’m less stressed in general and if I am stressed it’s usually about something else 😂 So think about it next time, do you care too much about what you are eating? If you couldn’t have access to your kitchen to cook chicken and broccoli (or whatever) would you freak? What if you couldn’t do this for a year? Just some Monday food for thought 😊❤️ . . You let your internal hunger/fullness cues dictate what, when, and how much to eat.⠀ .⠀ There are 10 principles of intuitive eating, but the first and most important is to reject the diet mentality.⠀ .⠀ It’s not a diet and the goal is not weight loss. You may lose weight as a positive side effect, but the goal is to improve the relationship with food and rediscover the enjoyment in eating.⠀ .⠀ In the diet mentality, a cookie is labeled as “bad”. Good Morning ☀️ Race week is finally here! Running schedule for this week consists of a track workout tomorrow, a tempo run Thursday, and a couple easy miles Saturday 🏃🏼‍♀️ Super pumped up for it!!! Did an 11.2 mile run on Saturday & was on pace for a 1:38 half, so I’m feeling confident going into the race 👍🏻 Hope you all had a nice weekend, we had some beautiful fall weather here! . Stovetop Collagen Oatmeal 👉🏻 Bring 1C of unsweetened almond milk to a boil, add cinnamon, a scoop of collagen, 1/2 a mashed banana, & 1C of instant oats. Cook on medium-low heat until you reach desired consistency. I topped my bowl with Honeycrisp Apples, Blackberries, Banana Slices, Grain-Free Granola, Cacao Nibs, & Creamy PB . Have a great Monday!

Snickerdoodle pecan blissballs for the perfect fall treat🍂🍁. They are a mix between pecan pie and snickerdoodle that will leave you reaching for more😋. Happy Monday friends, make it a great week. . Snickerdoodle pecan blissballs: 2 medjool dates 2 Tbsp @artisanaorganics coconut butter 1/3 cup @georgiagrinders pecan butter 1/2 cup pecans 1/3 cup pumpkin seeds 1/4 cup @bobsredmill almond flour 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp @primalpalate cinnamon sugar cookie (extra for coating balls) 2 tsp @simplyorganicfoods vanilla extract 1 cup raw coconut shreds 2 tsp @manitobaharvest hemp seeds 1/2 Tbsp water . Pulse in food processor, store in fridge for 30 minutes, roll Into balls, devour. Store in fridge or freezer.

Eye-opener: Je kent het misschien wel, zo ‘lesje’ wat je eigenlijk vooraf wel had kunnen bedenken maar achteraf pas leert😒. Ik heb dus het weekend staan “mealpreppen”. En ik moet zeggen ideaal om even een paar dagen niet te hoeven koken hoor! Koelkast openen gezonde maaltijd pakken, opwarmen en klaar. Ge-wel-dig....uhm ja🙄totdat je iets maakt wat op zijn zacht gezegd “niet geheel je smaak is”. En dan staan er nog 3 porties op je te wachten. Portie 2 ging nog wel. Ben immers een volwassen dame dus gewoon opeten, niet trutten. Maar vandaag ging ik ‘spontaan’ intermitterend vasten. Ik verbaasde mezelf! Totdat ik me realiseerde dat ik mijn eetmoment aan het vermijden was omdat ik totaal geen trek had in wat er op het menu stond en er tegen op zag te moeten eten. En daarnaast gevoelig werd om iets tot me te nemen (maakte niet uit wat)zolang het maar niet uit mijn koelkast kwam. Dit is niet de bedoeling van jezelf een gezonde leefstyle aan meten. Het gevarieerd en lekker eten is natuurlijk een kernvoorwaarde om iets vol te houden. Dus ik mealprep voortaan maar wat minder in grote hoeveelheden tenzij ik het in kan vriezen. Ik wou trouwens dat ik kon zeggen dat dit inzicht zo helder tot me kwam. Maar dan lieg ik. Ik had daar een croissant voor nodig die ik onder het mom van “vind mijn zoontje lekker” kocht. Wetende dat die er niets van moet hebben en ik mezelf zou opofferen om te eten. De croissant smaakte overigens lang niet zo lekker als ik dacht. Baal ik nu?! Ja, toch wel een beetje. Is dit reden om de rest van de dag als ‘verloren’ te beschouwen? Nee! Absoluut niet. Het is godzijdank ook niet zo zwart/wit of alles of niets-meer zoals ik voorheen hanteerde( 1 koekje= lijndag verpest dus; kan ik net zo goed de hele dag zondige en morgen opnieuw beginnen). Ik pik het gezonde eten gewoon meteen weer op. Die croissant vulde en verzadigde trouwens voor geen meter. Dus ik heb alsnog een lekker roereitje gemaakt. Geen man overboord en gewoon weer lekker Pioppi verder. 💚 Live and learn.

• confronting residual food fear • “Before you order, I just wanted to let you know that we’re out of all non-dairy milks today.” . I went to a coffee shop yesterday, planning to order a latte with almond milk or oat milk or anything, really, that wasn’t dairy milk, because this is what feels comfortable to me. This is my routine. My habit. I don’t have any real issues with dairy (it doesn’t make me feel my best but it’s PERFECTLY fine for me to drink it occasionally). But it just feels safer, somehow, to drink the non-dairy options. . I have to tell you... I was shocked by how anxious I became when these *safe* options were suddenly not available. I found myself standing in front of the barista, unable to decide what I wanted, and feeling truly anxious about drinking a latte made with real milk. Tangibly stressed. And I know this may sound silly in light of all that’s going on in the world !! It does to me, if I’m being honest. But it was just another reminder that the work continues. That there are little residual thoughts & feelings that we continue to think & feel even after relinquishing control. Even after choosing to listen to our bodies. And even after developing a steady body peace practice. So we just have to keep digging deeper & shedding layer after layer. That’s the work. . So this week, I challenge you to step outside of your comfort zone just once. It might be a type of food. A form of movement. Or the choice not to move at all. A clothing item. A social interaction. But decide right now - today - that you’ll take one risk this week that will allow you to shed another layer toward intuitive living & body peace. . Hallo Hallo meine Happylinas & -linos!🦋🍓 Und noch während ich dies schreibe, muss ich an diese kleinen Nilpferdfiguren aus den bekannten Schokoladeneiern denken. • Gestern stand ich nach einer langen durchzechten Nacht nach nur 4 Std Schlaf, mit schmerzenden Füßen, einer (?) schmerzenden Pobacke und fehlendem Tatendrang auf, spülte die Lasten des Ausflugs mit einer heißen Dusche weg und ging direkt über in eine meiner Lieblingsbeschäftigungen: Kuchen backen. Schließlich hatte ich mich angeboten, für Omas Geburstagsfeier am Sonntag, zu der ebenfalls meine Tante, meine Cousine und mein Cousin geladen waren, eine glutenfreie Version eines schwedischen Kakaokuchens zuzubereiten. Also ran an den Sp... Kuchen! • Wenn ich für mich Kuchen backe, möchte ich allerdings weniger eine mächtige Kalorienbombe als doch lieber einen leichten Snack, von dem man ohne schlechtes Gewissen auch gerne mal 2, 3 Stücken vernaschen kann. Herausgekommen ist also diesmal ein leichter, super fluffiger und dennoch saftiger Schokokuchen, der sowohl "glutenfrei" als auch "fett- und kalorienarm" als positive Eigenschaften vorweisen kann. • Lange Rede, kurzer Sinn... Und hier kommt nun endlich das Rezept: • 🔳🔲🔳🔲🔳🔲🔳🔲🔳🔲🔳🔲🔳🔲🔳 FLUFFIGER SCHOKOKUCHEN🍰 488 kcal [ergibt 5 dicke Stücke je 98 kcal] ✅100g Buchweizenmehl ✅3 Eiweiß | 3 EL Sojamehl + Wasser ✅1/2 Pkt Backpulver ✅2 EL Backkakao ✅1 Spritzer Zitrone/Limette ✅50g Apfelmark ✅50ml Wasser ✴trockene Zutaten miteinander vermengen; Eiweiß steif schlagen; feuchte Zutaten mit den trockenen vermengen; Eiweiß unterheben; Kuchenform [Mini Kasten 20 cm] einfetten; Backofen vorheizen auf 175°C; Teig in die Form geben, mit Topping pimpen [z.B. gehobelte Mandeln] und für 25 min in den Ofen schieben. Für die letzten 5 min auf 200°C erhöhen. TIPP: Schokoladenstücke in den Teig!🍫

“It’s not a diet, it’s a LIFESTYLE.” —-Ok, but what that really means is DIETING FOR LIFE. . 🔸Is there anyone who actually admits to being on a diet anymore?! We all know diets suck - the restriction makes you miserable, and if you manage to get results, they don't last. Calling it a “lifestyle” sounds better, but that doesn’t change what it is.🔸If you're cutting out food groups, only eating "approved foods," counting calories, tracking macros, measuring portions, following a meal plan, skipping meals, ignoring your hunger cues, or manipulating the way you eat with the goal of weight loss, you're engaging in dieting behaviors. 🔸Dieting is dangerous and futile: it can be harmful to your physical and emotional health, and there is NO diet out there that has ever been shown to result in lasting weight loss. Those before and after pics might look impressive, but only 5% of people actually keep the weight off, and 2/3 gain MORE back. 🔸For me, the alternative to dieting, is tuning in and re-learning what your body needs. It’s ignoring diet rules and restrictions that don’t take into account the individual at all, and figuring out what your body is telling you. It’s learning what the early stages of hunger feel like, and finding comfortable fullness. It’s finding foods that make you feel good and give you energy, but also giving yourself unconditional permission to eat ALL foods. It’s taking care of your body not by forcing it to shrink or change, but by honouring what it needs and allowing it to take the shape it was meant to take. 🔸Don’t try to sell me on a “lifestyle” that involves a lifetime of giving my body less than it needs with the goal of becoming smaller than I was meant to be. My definition of "fit" has changed quite significantly over the years. : : In the picture on the left my idea of "fit" was to exercise in order to get down to the smallest size I could. I was an extreme dieter; restrictive & binging along the way and abusing laxatives in order to get "rid" daily calories consumed. Never did I ever consider that health and well-being was more than exercise and diet. : : These days I feel "fitter" than ever, even if by societal standards I don't "appear" of "fit" as before. That is because to me being "fit" is not about looking a certain way or having a certain body size. Being "fit" is about self-worth, confidence, joyful movement, intuitive/mindful eating, socializing guilt free and embracing my natural body shape and size! : : What does being “fit” mean to you these days? EXPECT LIFE TO KEEP GETTING BETTER 💫👇🏼 . I was looking at my Facebook memories today — you know... the ones where you can see how embarrassing your status updates were 7 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ . Today I actually came across a gem though — a video I uploaded on my Health Nut Julie Facebook page a few years ago when I first started this little baby of mine 😍 . Here’s the truth: I HAD THE PERSONALITY OF A POTATO ON CAMERA. 🥔 . It’s so funny to look back because now I feel really comfortable on camera and in my posts, that I almost forget how UNCOMFORTABLE it was to show up as myself in the beginning. . Which got me thinking: it’s crazy how in our day-to-day lives, it seems like we’re not really making progress. But then we come across a picture or video from a long time ago and think HOLY CHEESE BALLS!!! I AM TOTALLY DIFFERENT NOW! 🤯 . Moral of the story: take a small baby step in the direction you want to go every single day. It may seem slow AF, but weeks, months and years will pass and all of a sudden — you end up living in a different country, married to a man you’re completely in love with that you met at a gym that we both found thanks to a YouTube channel, coaching women from around the world on how to create a healthier relationship to food and their bodies. WUT IS LIFE 🤯🤯🤯 . Keep expecting things to get better, because they will. One foot in front of the other. Do ONE thing today to work toward your goal, then again tomorrow, and the next day... . And eventually you’ll wake up and realize you’ve created the life you’ve always dreamed of (and it just keeps getting better!!!) 😍💫♥️ at Brantford, Ontario

Have you ever found yourself thinking things like “Gahhh I just need to lose the last 10 lbs!” . Or “ugh my pants are tight, time to get back to (insert diet or nutrition plan here)” . We were designed to be ever changing, to be resilient, to create and support life and creativity, whether that’s a baby or your big wild dreams. . And your relationship to gravity (aka “weight”) does not even begin to measure how powerful and beautiful you really are. Or how HEALTHY you are, mind body spirit. Monday morning coming HOT with these Pumpkin 🎃 Maple 🍁 Muffins 😍 They make the perfect breakfast, snack or even dessert for this time of the year 🍂🙌🏼 . Here’s the recipe: ~ Ingredients ~ • 1 C of @arrowheadmills Oat Flour • 1/2 C of Almond Flour • 1 tsp of Baking Soda • 1 tsp of Baking Powder • 1/4 tsp of Salt • 1 tsp of Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Allspice & Cloves • 1/2 C of @quaker Oat Bran • 1 C of Pumpkin Purée . . • 1 C of Almond Milk • 1/2 C of @parkersrealmaple Maple Syrup • 1 tsp of Maple Extract . • 2 Eggs 🥚 . • 1/2 C of Coconut Sugar (optional if you want these muffins to be a bit more sweeter) TOPPINGS: . • 3 Tbsps of Oats • @parkersrealmaple Maple Butter . ~ Directions ~ 1. Pre heat the oven to 350. 2. Mix all dry ingredients and set aside. 3. Mix all wet ingredients and pour into dry ingredients! Mix until well blended!! 4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. With 5 minutes left, top with Rolled Oats! 5. Once they are cooked, drizzle @parkersrealmaple Maple Butter all over! 6. ENJOY 🧡 . —> You can always get creative!
