A day at the Hong Kong horse race is truly a must-do when in visiting. . . . We booked a special brunch/ lunch at the “Hay Market” at the Sha Tin Race courses. Very very exquisite and unique experience for Christoph’s birthday, with an all day free flow option for about 20€ (including sparkling wine, wine, and beer)- amazing!! Make sure you check out the race days, they’re only on during season (November-July) and usually only Wednesday’s and Saturday’s! For a spot at the “Hay Market” make sure to make a booking in advance. One was an old Anglican Church hidden in a little forest in the way to the treck. And this one was right at the Edge of the town, next to the school. Happy days. . . . Brisbane’s temperatures got up to 35 degrees this week. I am usually used to this, but not without air-con. In Shanghai it can be up to 40 degrees or more, but with air-con, all you really do is jump from building to building to car to building as quick as possible. Green is all I see 🌿 who else loves tea? . . . . A few months ago I was able to travel to the tea fields around Suzhou. I even picked my own tea and was able to taste it straight after the withering. Pure goodness! ☕️ ———————————————————— Suzhou is home to Longjiang Tea, the most famous green tea in China. To preserve the quality of the tea leaves (whole leaves vs. broken leaves), the local tea pickers still pick and whiter the leaves by hand. This means they roast the leaves for 1 hour in a 90 degrees hot pot with their bare hands! ———————————————————— In China, green tea is believed to have a cooling effect and is least likely drunk by women, because it is perceived as too strong. When green tea is drunken, then only in full leaves- rather than cut tea leaves in a tea strainer- because full tea leaves don’t make the tea too strong.
