another lower body killer! This time using tabata to also get that heart rate up! Tabata workouts use a 2:1 ratio of work to recovery, so with these you’ll be doing 20s work followed by 10s recovery for each workout, aiming to get as many reps of the workout done in 20s, safely. —— I often teach this in my Booty Boot Camp class and I love using the app “Intervals” to help. The app counts down your recovery and cues you in when it’s time to start work again, even with your music on! Give it a shot!

Today’s leg session was a bit different all about time under tension, no lock out or rest at the top or bottom just continuous squats. But picking a weight that still challenges me In my opinion the best way to build muscle 👏🏼🦍 - One of the smoothest 140kg I’ve done, and when the real off season begins in the next month this will be the warm ups 😳 - P.s being my height isn’t all to bad because I get to do a calf raise at the start and end of each set 🙂 at Somerset

This Is My Story. I have always been a pretty active person, participating in soccer and dancing competitively. In 2012, I got a concussion from soccer that took a year to recover from. I had to quit dance, which I had been doing for almost 10 years, and I couldn’t continue playing soccer that season. I underwent rehab to help my recovery. Once I finally recovered from my concussion, I wasn’t in the shape I was in prior so I couldn’t go back to dance. I had gained some weight (which was needed at the time as I was extremely active) and had lost a lot of my flexibility so I wasn’t really in the shape a dancer is supposed to be in to continue at the level I was at. I was really devastated that I wasn’t able to return to dance which took up the majority of my life for almost a decade. I was able to continue with soccer and made that my new priority. Through high school, I always heard “you’re so skinny, you’re like a stick, do you even eat?”. Hearing all of these comments everyday made me really self conscious. I felt like I was constantly being judged for my body. I started to become really self conscious about my body and felt like I was constantly being judged on what and how much I was eating. In my head, I felt like I was under a microscope and people were just watching me. This started to make me feel really self conscious eating around people other than my family because I thought everyone had the same thoughts about me. I graduated high school and began a Science degree in 2017 at UBCO. Through my first year, I wasn’t eating the healthiest and wasn’t exercising enough. I began to feel very sluggish and unmotivated. School felt like a constant struggle and I didn’t enjoy what I was learning. After my first year, I decided to apply to transfer into a Kinesiology degree as I have always been fascinated by the human body. Transferring meant that I would restart first year again. So this is where I am now. I am almost finished my first semester of my first year in Kin and I’ve finally decided to change my mindset. This coming January, I will began making myself, my health and the gym a priority in my busy life. [Continues in the comments]
