Your brain's job is to keep you alive, not win trophies. - Adaptation to stress is what makes a human being stronger, your nervous system needs to have the ability to buffer and rebound from a bout of stress in order to adapt. Highly educated and in okay nick —- One session in, one day of adjusted Diet and FUCK it feels good, it’s alwyas good to have someone in your circle that can push you and make you a better you. Mentally and physically !! ______________________________________ 4th exercise of many - 2nd set 12 reps 50kg Shoulder were on fire, fatigued, pumped and feeling good. I bloody love a good ol’ goblet squat! And there’s good reasons for it: 1. Lighter load-meaning less pressure on joints so ideal for injury recovery and prevention. 🚑 2. Easier form-it’s an easier movement to do correctly so less risk of injury. 3. Variations- Here I’m doing a heel elevated variety which takes even more pressure of my knee which has helped my recovery from a knee injury! HOW TO LIVE A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE ☀️ I know change is hard, and “giving up” things seems impossible. But it isn’t!! The thing is, you don’t have to give up things, you just have to prioritize better. Is eating good hard for you? Are you incapable of sticking to a “diet” because you love your sweets? Do you not have time for the gym or even a home workout? Well truth be told, I don’t diet. I don’t believe in it simply because you can’t diet forever! And as far as workouts go, wake up earlier, workout on your lunch break, OR maybe use the time you waste on social media to workout 😉 (I’m guilty, too ok?) The key is to make it a lifestyle. Change your mindset in a way that you always go for something healthy when you are hungry or you only have one treat a day. Once I realized that I can eat what I want and still lose weight and enjoy my life, all of the sudden I became OBSESSED with working out and eating good. 🌟 Make small changes everyday, every week, so that eventually you are a healthy machine 💪🏻 if you gradually make changes you won’t feel like you are depriving yourself and you will feel much better! This week's Lisa's Lesson of the Week is about squats! I'm sure we've all heard somebody say that squats are the only exercise you need to do to grow big legs. I've also heard people say that they do low bar squats for hamstring growth. However, there's a couple flaws with the above statements based on biomechanics and research that I'll lay out below - I'll break down the biomechanical flaws first. The hamstrings (with the exception of the short head of the biceps femoris) flex the knee and extend the hip. During a squat, both of these motions happen, however they happen at different parts of the squat. During the eccentric portion, the hip is flexing while the knee is flexing. During the concentric portion the knee is extending and the hip is extending. This means that the hamstrings stay, essentially, the same length throughout the entire squat. Even though the hip is being extended during the concentric portion, the hamstrings are in a shortened position because of the knee being flexed. This means that the hamstrings part in hip extension is greatly reduced and the bulk of the load is taken over by the glute max. This all basically boils down to the hamstrings playing very little part in squats. The quadriceps (except the rectus femoris), adductors, and the glutes are the muscles that are "working" during squats. Muscle fiber activation and fatigue set in quickly today. I’m sure some of it is from yesterday’s training. Most of this workout I focused on controlled movements, regardless of weight, aiming for a 3-4 sec rep on both eccentric and concentric parts of the movements. Leg day! People have been asking me how do they gain strength in their guads and how can they practice keeping the bar in track in line with their mid foot. I use the smith machine to help me go full depth in my squats and make sure i smash out those reps! (Still focusing on the quality of the exercise aka mind to muscle connection). If you’re short on time try this out! ⁣ ⁣ Mobility- 10mins⁣ ⁣ Warm up ⁣ Leg extension 3sets (light weight 30-40%)⁣ 1st set x30reps ⁣ 2nd set x20reps⁣ 3rd set x15reps ⁣ ⁣ Prone leg curl or leg curl machine 3sets (light weight 30-40%) ⁣ 1st set x30reps ⁣ 2nd set x20reps⁣ 3rd set x15reps ⁣ ⁣ Main workout ⁣ ⁣ Smith machine ⁣ ⁣ 20x5sets =100reps (60-70%)⁣ 60secs rest in between sets ⁣ ⁣ Conventional deadlifts ⁣ ⁣ 8-10x5sets (70-80%)⁣ 60-120secs rest in between sets ⁣ ⁣ Core ⁣ 50 sit ups + 50 leg raises x 1 set ⁣ ⁣ Mobility/stretch 5-10mins ⁣ ⁣ Quality over quantity even if you’re short on time 💪🏼 Great workout if done properly. Thought I would post my brutal leg day I did today because I’m so proud of myself for completing it. This shit had me shaking, please adjust weight accordingly. Thought I would post my brutal leg day I did today because I’m so proud of myself for completing it. This shit had me shaking, please adjust weight accordingly. Also sorry if it is confusing, I’m not sure which is the best way to write down workouts 🤔🤔 1️⃣Superset one: Hacksquat super set with seated leg extensions, 6 sets First three sets of hack squats 90lbs x 25 Last three sets of hack squats 180 lbs x 20 Super sets with leg extensions immediately after, 20 reps each set, go up in weight each time. 2️⃣Superset two: Sissy squats on smith machine superset with machine hip addictions, 6 sets First three sets of sissy squats 30lbs dumbbell x 30 rep Last three sets of sissy squats 35lbs dumbbell x 25 rep Super set each set with hip addictions, 30 reps each set, go up in weight each set. 3️⃣Superset three: Bulgarian split squat superset with walking lunges, for 3 sets Bulgarian split squat: 15 reps, used 30 lbs kettle bell Walking lunges: 10-15 lunges each leg, used 40 lbs EZ Bar 4️⃣Supersets four: Single leg laying leg curls and cable kick backs, for 3 sets Leg curls: 12 reps each leg, 25lbs plates Cable kick backs: 12 reps each leg, 45 lbs 5️⃣Fifth super set: Hip abductions superset with low back raises, 3 sets. Leg day finisher . Can be paired with calf raises. The tibialis anterior helps pull your toes towards your knees. So if you want to improve your ankle dorsiflexion abs thus squat - improve your tibialis strength and range . Remember to keep the knees locked out and pull toes towards your knees. Pausing and contracting as hard as you can . #ShinPump #TibialisAnterior #LegDay
