👩🏽Saw my GP again Yesterday. ~ She's upped my Sertraline to 100mg, but I'm now on weekly dispense and she doesn't want to up the dose too high because she's worried about me taking an OD & the fact I'm not under the crisis team? Found it quite frustrating tbh because I've not had any serious plans to do anything in months, and when I did, I told somebody. None of my other meds are on weekly, other than pain meds which I'm allowed 4 days worth of. ~ She's also said someone needs to be with me when picking up my medication, but I control all my medication at home anyway so I don't see how that makes any difference... ~ There's another prescription at the pharmacy, ready for when I run out...but she said I can't pick them up until I run out, when my pharmacy and most other pharmacies round here are closed over the weekend. The pharmacy have said they'll just have to give me them Friday...maybe when I see my GP again in 4 weeks she'll start giving me more at once but I seriously doubt it🤷🏼‍♀️.

We all should have a positive body image. I know, that’s easier said than done, but still: we all should love our body the way it is. And do you know why? Because society tells us not to. • Society tells us that we are too big. Or too small. Or too tall. Or too short. It seems like we can never get it “just right”. And that is ridiculous. How we look says nothing about who we are. It says nothing about our passion, our talents or our character. • Unrealistic beauty standards are goals we just cannot meet. And that at least causes frustration. Just because other people tell us we have to look a certain way, we bend over backwards to actually look that way. And that really isn’t healthy. • But people getting body-shamed just shows we aren’t there yet. The people getting shamed often experience long-term psychological effects, such as depression, anxiety or even eating disorders like anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder of body dysmorphia. Because society tells us we should diet. Because society tells us we don’t look good enough. • I don’t think I have to say much more about why body positivity should be wide spread in our society, instead of body-shaming. I just want to tell you that you do look good the way you are. Your body is your vessel, not who you are. You are kind, capable to be loved the way you are. Because you are gorgeous. We meet others with kindness, care and compassion when they need it the most. We cut others slack when they are hard on themselves and unfair. End of a long day. But a good day. Hitting the wards, clinic time and after hours admission call outs 👨🏼‍⚕️ . Had someone in clinic today pull out something pretty special in describing how mental health struggles feel and impact on reaching out - “It’s like glad-wrap; you can see it, you know it’s there over top. But you can’t feel through it properly. Your fingers just slide off it. It wraps around things” 🤯 . As far as we’ve come in breaking down barriers, mental health and illness are still moving out from the shadows 🌓 . Mental disorders and struggles sit up as our top world wide illnesses, are our leading cause of chronic disability and, for more and more countries, take more young lives through suicide than any other cause 📊 . We do our part to counter that everyday when we stop and listen, we speak up past stigma and shame, and we look toward instead of away from pain we can’t always see or touch. It’s moving past the glad wrap, to really feel it 🤲🏼 . Mind = Body 💪🏼🧠

During #LapsforLads we had many amazing people complete their own challenges throughout the week. My good friend Tom set his own challenge to support Australian veterans who lost their lives to suicide and to remember two of his close work friends that suicided in early 2019. During the course of the week Tom completed 373 push ups and sit ups to remember the Australian veterans who took their own lives from 2001 to 2016, 79 burpees for the 79 vets who lost their lives to suicide in 2017 and 84 laps for the 84 Vet Suicides in 2018. On day one after 8 hours of running, I decided to join him in completing the 53 pushups required for that day. I struggled and didn’t quite get there. 😅 We love you Tommy and can’t thank you enough for your commitment to helping men get talking. So that we can manage and get through it all together. #LapsforLads #Runformentalhealth

Because glues, gases and aerosols are available as household products, some people think they are safe to use, but they're not. Around 50 people die every year from misusing glues, gases and aerosols and some of these will be first time users. They can kill the first time they are used. Here's what else they could do to you: Inhaling glues, gases and aerosols can cause mood swings, aggressive behaviour, hallucinations, vomiting and blackouts. Squirting gas products down the throat is a particularly dangerous way of taking the drug. It can make your throat swell up so you can't breathe and it can slow down your heart and can cause a heart attack. Some users die from passing out and choking on their own vomit. You risk suffocation if you inhale from a plastic bag over your head. Long-term abuse can damage the muscles, liver and kidneys. While very long-term use, such as 10 years or more, can cause a lasting impairment of brain function (especially affecting how the brain controls body movement). It can be hard to get the dose right. Just enough will give the desired 'high' - a little too much can result in a coma or even death. Unsteadiness, disorientation/confusion and fainting can all contribute to the risk of accidents which are implicated in several deaths. Hellooo👋🏼 Just nu sitter jag och dricker kaffe och äter lite choklad☕️🍫 Har precis kommit hem från en morgon på sjukhuset. Hade möte med min behandlare, träffade dietisten och tog en del prover som EKG, blodtryck osv👩🏼‍⚕️💉 Har fått ett nytt matschema med tillägg på 3 näringsdrycker/dag och jag känner mig mest bara tom just nu. Jag vet inte alls hur eller vad jag ska göra. Jag vill så gärna ha en förändring men har otroligt svårt för att fixa det. Behandlingsteamet tycker att jag är omotiverad och nonchalant och jag blir så frustrerad för jag vet att jag utstrålar precis det, men på insidan har jag så mycket som vill ut men som jag av någon anledning inte klarar att visa. Det var en hel del hårda ord från dietist och behandlare och jag känner mig påhoppad även fast jag innerst inne vet om att de inte menar att skälla. Jag vet att jag kan fixa detta, jag vet bara inte hur. Jobbig dag med andra ord och jag känner mig ensam och förvirrad🧸 Vad gör ni idag?💓

I lied, there is a reason 😚 Having a tough time again, probably because of the autumn darkness and multiple trauma anniversaries, plus some rough things to handle in therapy... What helps me through, in addition to trying to remember that it will get better, are people I love, my cats, and the _many_ stuffed animals and other cute stuff I have to get me grounded. I’m terrible with social situations and even worse forming relationships with people but sometimes you’ve just got to try trust the beauty of new beginnings and be hopeful they lead to great futures.

Day 15 of the #mentalhealthoctober Art Doll Challenge. MINDFULNESS/MEDITATION Aims to help you: *Be more self-aware *Feel calmer and less stressed *Feel more able to choose how to respond to your thoughts and feelings *Cope with difficult or unhelpful thoughts *Be kinder towards yourself. Mindfulness/Meditation is a skill. It requires work like any therapy and practice like any skill. I have read that it takes up to 3 months of doing meditations to really hone the skill, and start seeing the results. Youtube is a great place to start, there are lots of guided meditations on there! **Using a different prompt for each day I will create a unique 12 cm Art Doll, once complete the doll will be raffled off all proceeds going to Mind charity.**
