Don’t stop get it get it 🎶 . Ok here’s the real deal y’all. . I took a break. I’ve been working my butt off hard all year and have never really given myself a good break. Ps 5-7 days tops should never go longer then that without moving your body unless from doctors orders. . I went past that. It was a good test. What I noticed was how my mind went into these ridiculous spirals for no reason at all. Exercise daily is so important. . Our bodies begin to seize up, the arthritis begins to flare up, we start binging and the excuses start flowing through like no tomorrow. And your energy level drops like crazy. I started feeling so exhausted and my emotions were ridiculous. . Exercising helps maintain blood flow, it gives you endorphins which make you happy and give you energy to power through these dark long days. It makes you stronger and helps you live a longer healthier life as it also helps fight off diseases. . Not sure where to start? Feeling like your in a slump? Need more motivation? Expanding on yesterday’s post about “ Not being where you should be by now,” this is a picture from three years ago that popped up on my FB page yesterday. It’s a great memory of a show with Rhea where we were champion in the 2’6 division. At this time I was looking forward to moving up to the 2’9 division within the next 6 months or so. Three horses, several trainers, and a few barns later, I don’t have a horse to lease and I don’t know when I’ll jump again. I have a new (sort of) trainer @RLJ stablesllc and we’ve gone back to basics. But you know what? It’s okay. This is a growth period. A time to work on me and my skills, so when the next opportunity arises, I’ll be ready to rock it. As usual, riding provides major life lessons. It takes integrity to master the mind. There are those who are passionate as a result of being truly connected to what they love, and their work ethic flows organically, but then there are those who need discipline/ work ethic (like turning the mind off and just getting the job done) to train, apply what they learn to connect to their true selves... which brings us back to integrity. You need the ebb and flow of both approaches, which takes choosing integrity over and over again to flow in between the movements, the transitions of life. The gap between where we are and where we want to be can be long and challenging and you may as well learn how to enjoy the journey to mastery, instead of suffering, resisting, fighting the present moment. There are many unknown movements in between the known 108 of the Tai Chi Chuan Yang form, which is why you need a teacher 😉 . . . . . Now for some riveting footage of me carrying a sandbag for minutes at a time. I like the sandbag for carries and other exercises. It’s a different challenge. If you don’t have one, don’t worry. You can use anything that has weight to it. Rock salt. Stones. Weights. Logs. Buckets of concrete or soil. The great thing about training outside with no gym is you have to get creative. Not complex. Just creative. The basics will always work. Carrying weight while walking. Pushups. Pull-ups. Squats. Jump rope. Sprints. Calisthenics. Etc. Getting outside for training has been an eye-opening experience. After 20 years in gyms, I’m still learning. Still making improvements. Striving to get better every day. We all have the times where we don’t think we are going to make it...our mind is giving up so it starts to tell our body to give up... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This picture marks the moment where I fought off that feeling...it was 100 degrees and I was wearing a polyester Chicken suit...I had just ran longer than I ever care too and that was just to get to the first obstacle... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Right before this picture I wanted to give up. Fake an injury. Anything that would get me out of doing this. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One of the biggest pushes that made me get over that feeling was the people surrounding me during the mud run. Every single obstacle we picked each other up, cheered each other on, wouldn’t continue on until everyone made it through that obstacle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My mentality quickly changed. I realized when you surround yourself with the best people possible that you always have someone watching your back. People who will push and push to see you succeed and never give up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What started out as miserable ended up being one of the greatest times of my life. Remember when you learned to walk? Probably not but I can tell you that you fell over hundreds of times and cried a lot before you succeeded. Walking is now second nature to you... But imagine if you'd given up after the first fall? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As we get older we often change our beliefs around the learning process, if something is hard we have misguided beliefs that we can't learn it or that it's not for us. This is compounded by our fear of failing and looking bad in front of others. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The consequence is that we fail to learn the habits that come to define our character, which ultimately stops us fulfilling our hopes, dreams and aspirations. When a new challenge comes along it can look scary but use that as fuel to do better. Over the years I have smashed through comfort barriers which I've found scary at 1st but when it comes to them, it's not actually as bad as what I made or thought it out to be. In 2015 I never thought I would be working outside of kidlington as I felt safe in my home town but then thanks to @donnavar7 my old boss, then persuaded to go and work in marston with her other half. Now to some people that maybe something small but in reality to me it was the best decision I've ever made. My confidence is growing by the day but there is always more barriers in the way. Now if you had said to me a couple of months ago to go to a mental health conference I would have laughed at you and ignored it but now I think, what's the worst that can happen so have put my name for it on my own in London meeting new people. We all have barriers to protect us which is good in some respect but sometimes you need to break those barriers to build as a person.
