Sorry to burst your bubble but... YOU CANNOT TARGET SPECIFIC AREAS ON YOUR BODY FOR FAT LOSS . . Working out abs alone will not make your tummy smaller . Doing tricep pull downs alone will not take away your under arm fat . 🧬 GENETICS 🧬 will decide where you lose fat first . The first place you gain it, will be the last place you lose it (it’s literal science, sorry buddy) . So when your favorite fitspo gives you workouts “to target lower belly fat” or “target back fat” they’re feeding you 💩 for money and/or attention, and they’re not fact-based 🙅🏿‍♂️ . With that being said, you should ~definitely~ still train the areas that you want to see the most change in because once your *diet* is on point and you do lose that fat in those areas, it’ll reveal the muscle that you’ve worked 👏🏻so👏🏻hard👏🏻 to build in that area and it’s SUCH a rewarding feeling to see that work in the gym being paid off!!! . More muscle = higher metabolism . So still train, but know that you can’t spot reduce fat. (It was a disappointment to me too guys) . I say everything from a place of love 💗

Minha gente, essa queijadinha ficou muito boa! 🤤 Vamos lá para os ingredientes: 2 xícaras de coco fresco ralado 1/2 xícara de zaya flour (acho que farinha de arroz ou trigo dá certo também, mas não testei) 2 colheres de sopa bem cheias de queijo parmesão ralado 1 colher de sopa bem cheia de manteiga Ghee 1/2 xícara de xilitol, eritritol ou açúcar 3 ovos Vá colocando os ingredientes na ordem que estão aqui e misturando até formar uma massa homogênea. Eu usei 1/3 de xícara de leite de coco para chegar na consistência bem cremosa (tipo papa) você pode precisar de mais ou menos, mas isso não vai fazer sua queijadinha desandar, não se preocupe 😉 Uma pitada de sal e forminha de silicone 💚 Leve ao forno pré aquecido a 200 graus por uns 30 minutos (varia de acordo com cada forno, assim que dourar você pode desligar) . Desenforme e aproveite 😋 Espere só esfriar um pouquinho pra não queimar a língua 😝

Coconut & Lentil Dahl 1 cup green lentils, soak overnight & rinse 1-2 cans coconut milk 1 clove garlic I tin tomatoes 1 teaspoon of each - ground curry powder, hot chilli powder, paprika, cumin and coriander You can cook this in a slow cooker on high for min 7 hours, in the oven, or on stove top.  If cooking on stove top must be stirred every 15 minutes for an hour or so. Heat oil in pan add garlic and spices. Stir well, adding lentils, coconut milk and tomatoes, add salt. Serve with cucumber yogurt, rice and papadums. Yum! A craving is not the same as hunger, but when they are combined it can be a hard thing to overcome. ••••• One the best things you can do to avoid sugar cravings is to eat regular meals and snacks that are filling and nutritious. Eat protein and healthy fats with meals to help you feel satisfied. Increase foods high in fiber which can help regulate blood sugar levels and try to keep the junk food out of the house. Stock up on healthier options. Fruit like berries can help satisfy that sweet craving. Go on a walk or run. Take a hot bath or shower. Changing your environment or having a distraction can get your mind off of it. And sometimes having a little of what you crave can help alleviate those cravings instead of feeling deprived or wanting to binge on it later. I did an @icelandfoods shop a couple of weeks back and with my new found food freedom I found myself loading the trolly with stuff I wouldn’t have normally gone for. We don’t have a lot of ready meals so I don’t know what possessed me to try this one. I added extra cheese because it looked a little lacking but sadly it was too spicy for Lilly to enjoy and although I followed the instructions to the letter, the mixture of burnt pasta in with soggy just wasn’t doing it for me. Disappointing. Although I have heard very good things about their curry’s so might try that in the future. Body Mass Index or “BMI” is a measurement of someone’s weight in relation to their height. Physiologically this makes absolutely no sense, yet it is used as a primary diagnostic tool. That’s right, an equation created by a mathematician is used in the medical field to determine someone’s health status. There is a whole slew of problems regarding BMI. Health concerns are either falsely created or overlooked, it perpetuates weight stigma and marginalization of those in fat bodies, and it causes harm in healthcare. Wellbeing goes far beyond BMI and weight categories. Your health and your worth cannot be defined by a number. 💛HAPPY BELATED THANKSGIVING to all of my canadian friends 🦃 🇨🇦 . I hope everyone enjoyed spending time with their loved ones and eating their body weight in turkey and pumpkin pie ( or was that just me??). 🎃🧡 . This year I tried to eat as intuitivley as possible meaning I enjoyed alll my favourite thanksgiving foods, without the guilt. . But after eating a bit too much sugar during apple pie making yesterday my body is now craving alllll the vegetables. . It's crazy to me how amazing the body is. If you let your body choose the foods it wants, honouring your cravings, forgetting about "good" and "bad" labels, it doesn't let you down. It knows what it wants and what it needs, we just have to trust it . People always think if you honour your cravings it will open the flood gates and all you'll ever want is "unhealthy" foods. When really, the opposite is true, when you set foods as being "off-limits" it builds uncontrollable cravings, then when you finally "give-in" it will usually cause "all-or nothing" overeatting and guilt. When you stop labelling foods as "off limits", your body will eat them in moderation and you'll be able to enjoy ALL food. So ya sometimes it may want cookies but usually after a couple it will start craving something with a bit more nutrients! . bodies are cool. science is cool. ✨ . okay now off to enjoy this salad.... then maybe some lefotver pumpkin pie after 😉———————————————————— TODAY'S SALAD: - spinach - sweet potato - sauteed tofu - broccoli - cucumber - a couple of craisins

HOW TO DIET CORRECTLY! ☝🏻 1. Don’t diet 🤪 2. Focus on lifestyle changes that benefit you- ex: bringing lunch from home more- saves money, is an opportunity to add whole foods to your diet, saves time at lunch, helps you feel more prepared and saves you when you’re busy during the day.🥙 3. Nourish your body with whole foods and fun foods! I aim for 80/20. 80% healthy fresh foods like fruits and veggies and lean protein and 20% fun foods like ice cream or chocolate 🥗🍑🧀🍪 4. Nourish your mind- with self care, therapy, education, and stress-relieving activities. 🧘🏼‍♀️ 5. Focus on movement- exercise that you enjoy. Don’t lift if you don’t like lifting. Don’t run if you really dislike running. Try different classes, different apps, sports, or just walk! I go for a trail walk 3-4x a week as a piece of my exercise routine. 🏃🏼‍♀️ . . Why is this not common sense though? 🤔😆 . I think it’s because we get so busy busy busy that sometimes it’s just easier to eat whatever whenever however much! . Mindful eating can seem like it takes too much thinking and listening. . But I promise- the more you do it, the more it becomes intuitive! . I love mindful eating- and this was a huge help for me. Still to this day I follow this principle. . If you don’t love it, don’t eat it. . If you do love it, SAVOR it. . 💥 . . . . . . . . . . .

Tuesday's lunch is always out and I typically go to the same place as it works well with having O with me and close to where I need to collect J from after lunch. This was a club Sandwich, I do prefer the BBQ chicken one to this though. Tea was freezer stash Lasagna pasta bake with veggies, mixed berry crumble and custard for pudding. DAY 2 CHALLANGE done ✔️ I read about really pulling the abs in tight when doing the diastasis recti workout and I'm feeling it so much more than last night. Coconut Greek yoghurt and berries plus couple of biccies whilst watching bake off 🥰

I used to HATE salads on slimming world bc any salad ingredients I loved (oily dressings, cheese, nuts) were high syn and it made me miserable. I love ‘em. But, I love them in a different way than I used to. For 6 years I forced myself to eat salads because I thought I was being “healthy”. I actually felt superior ordering a salad while everyone else ordered sandwiches. 🙈”Look how healthy I am!” I thought. But in reality I was DYING to have a sammie. 🥪Not only mentally, because I was restricting them and when we do that our brains want whatever we’re restricting MORE, but also because my body needed some freaking CARBS! 🥖I fell prey to the low carb bogus-ness that diet culture told me was “good”.🙄 . When I started to break my food rules and actually eat sandwiches again it was FAB. 🤩Then, one day when my then boyfriend, now husband, Joe and I were out to lunch at one of our fave delis I actually felt a CRAVING for a salad. 🥗I remember thinking “What the heck?!” 🤯I had never felt an actual craving for a bowl of veggies, it was always more of a mental decision to be “good” when I had food rules. But, my body was telling me it wanted veggies. I’m primarily interested in trying Manuka honey to aid in digestion, especially after I’ve eaten a lot of dairy, sugar (or other foods that are harder to digest) as an alternative to Tums or Pepto Bismol. A couple things things to keep in mind: the UMF or Kfactor is very important when buying Manuka honey. A value between 10-15 is good quality, but a value of 16 and above is very good quality and where you will see the most benefits. Also, do not put your Manuka honey in hot tea or coffee! You will kill all the good bacteria, thus severely decreasing its effectiveness. Wait until it cools down to add the honey. . Take 1-2 teaspoons/day for maximum effect. As always, consult your doctor if you have any concerns...because I certainly am not a doctor. Why not try to feel your feelings, rather than eat them.✨ . Easy said than done I know, however it is an important step in the journey to sustainable weight management. I am very well educated in the field of emotional eating, I was a professional at it and it always seemed much easier to me to simply eat jars of nutella with toast than face whatever emotional turmoil I was avoiding. However although it may feel good at the time, it never ends well longer term. Mine ended in an extra 45kgs 😳 (first time round!) . Food is often used as a substitute for unresolved emotion, or to help regulate emotion as it can give us that immediate relief we think we need. But it isn’t a long term strategy. Trust me, I tried it for nearly 20 years with terrible results. There are many reasons this happens and a number of ways to overcome this but a good place to start is by simply being aware. Awareness of what your trigger is, what the symptom is trying to tell you, without any judgement or negative self talk. Addressing the why through consciously feeling your feelings rather than eating them is liberating and totally underrated. . Eat with awareness. Eat consciously. See what comes up 🌸 . Something I used to be in denial about for so long was being on a diet. I didn’t think I was dieting. I thought, I’m just being healthy! But “healthy” to me at the time wasn’t actually healthy. Sure in the outside I was eating everything “right”, exercising and seemed to have it all together. But the anxiety I had around food, the restrictions I had and the rules I followed, were NOT healthy! Sometimes you’re dieting even when you don’t think you are. Are you... -letting food fear keep you from enjoying a night out with friends? -saying “no” to certain things because it comes between you and a workout? -laying in bed at night losing precious sleep because you “went over” your allotted calories for the day. Dieting doesn’t have to be what our moms did back in the day. Today, dieting is pretty sneaky and can look a lot like wellness. / WHY AM I BLOATED? WHAT IS MY GUT TELLING ME? / ⁠ .⁠ .⁠ Here are 3 of the most common reasons for bloating that I see in my clinic...⁠ .⁠ .⁠ 🍐Eating too much sugar: when our diet contains too much sugar, or white refined carbs, this can affect the balance of your gut microbiome. Keep a food diary for a few days and look at how much sugar you're actually eating. Check food labels and drinks - it may be more than you think. Ideally keep to under 3 teaspoons of added sugar per day, even less if you can.⁠ .⁠ .⁠ 🍅Are you eating too much raw food or windy veg? When you go on a health drive, it's common to want to include loads of salad, plus green veg like broccoli and cauliflower. But if you go too fast with these veg or too much raw food, and your gut isn't used to it, you may find you experience bloating. Build up slowly with the veg, start with more cooked veggies and use salad dressings that contain lemon juice and cider apple vinegar to aid digestion.⁠ .⁠ .⁠ 🥑Are you chewing? This may sound obvious, but if you eat in a stressed environment and far too quickly, you're not going to digest your food properly. It’s been just over a week since I was up in Bath with the @britishgamealliance at @valehousekitchen , with @timmaddams6959 teaching me how to prepare game birds and cook them in some delicious dishes 🤤 I don’t really understand why some people feel negatively towards game birds... it’s something I’ve really tried to wrap my head around but I just can’t get it 🤷🏻‍♀️ These birds are a sustainable and ethical source of protein that are actually healthier than more common choices too. Higher protein and less cholesterol than chicken, not to mention that they’re flying out in the wild for much longer than a commercial chicken which goes from egg to dispatch in approximately 32 days 😬. Add to that the fact that 60-65 million game birds are released into the wild each year, with only 35-40% being successfully shot, compared to the UK rearing 850 million chickens a year and importing the same amount (this year is set to reach a billion) that all sit in warehouses and will certainly die, and I don’t see why there’s such a stigma around shooting game birds 😕 Don’t get me wrong, I love eating chicken, but there’s something concerning to me about how people choose to be completely ignorant to how what they’re eating got on their plate 👀 (Check out the chicken episode on Netflix series Rotten if you want a better idea of how that all goes down). If we’re going to be eating meat, let’s #eatwild and let’s make informed and educated decisions about reconnecting with our food. On the note of plates, we rustled up some dishes that really changed my outlook on when feathered game is consumed. Usually seen on fine dining menus accompanied with some veg, the BGA shook things up by getting us to create the most amazing pheasant fajitas, Moroccan one pot partridge and GROUSE WONTONS 😍 Would love to hear your thoughts on eating feathered game - I think it’s something that should be considered far more as people are becoming more mindful and sustainable eaters. I think I am ready to open my courgette fritter shop and serve it with tomatoes in my stall 😂😂 I made whopping 24 courgette fritters from a kilo of courgettes so it will be these for dinner, breakfast and lunch 🙌🙌🙌 But I would never get tired of these 🙈 1 kilo of courgettes grated coarsely grated, salted (1 teaspoon) left in a colander for about 10 minutes and then squeezed and put in an other bowl. I got about 300ml if juice out from a kilo of courgettes effortlessly. Add 2 heaped tablespoons of flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 2 eggs, 150gr feta (crumbled), black pepper and chopped parsley. Mix with your hands. Then shape into little sausages (or quenelles) using two spoons or your hands. Drop them into very hot sunflower oil and fry for 3-4 minutes until golden turning once. Makes 24, enough to feed a family of 3 for breakfast, lunch and dinner 🤪 Serve with strained yogurt and salad.

Not the prettiest but definitely delicious and vegan 🌱 I used to hate cooking and was especially grossed out by preparing animal muscle tissue. When I went vegan, it opened up a whole new world of nutrition I didn’t know existed. As I experimented with new foods and flavors, I forged a new relationship with the food that I eat. My “diet” is so much more diverse than ever before and I feel so much healthier for it. Veganism forced me to become mindful of the foods I consume by learning what different ingredients are, their production methods, and how these factors impact the body, animals, and the planet. 🥰 There is not a single non-vegan food item I miss. The series of strange health trends and information on Instagram could almost be comical if they weren’t so damn disturbing at the same time. From detox teas and pH balancing smoothie bowls to mono meals and some truly bizarre ones that I saw the other day like butthole sunning and drinking your own urine. ⠀ ⠀ The sad part of all of this is that these are the people who seem to be making the most noise. They play into wanting a ‘quick fix’ or something that sounds exciting and new. ⠀ ⠀ I would love to turn around tomorrow and say that science has discovered the cure for everything. But I can’t. Because of the nature of science and progress, we will probably never have all the solutions to all the problems. And I don’t know about you - but I think there is something kind of beautiful about that. ⠀ ⠀ So I know that saying veggies and brown rice are high in fibre is as exciting as saying that eating only watermelon for the entire day will magically make you feel fab but I am going to stick to that anyway.

Do you cook with cast iron?? 🍳⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They might seem hefty and intimidating, but cast iron skillets can be one of the handiest tools in your kitchen.⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here’s why I love them:⠀ 🖤 With the proper care, these things are durable AF and will last you forever.⠀ 🖤 Cooking with cast iron can help YOU boost your iron intake 💪🏼⠀ 🖤 They can go from the stovetop to the oven (perfect for seared, tender meat)⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One of my favorite meals to make in my cast iron skillet is honey mustard chicken thighs with fresh rosemary 😍 served with a side of roasted asparagus and cauliflower/potato mash 👍🏼⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m not a pro at this yet, but here are some of the tips I’m learning for taking care of your cast iron skillet:⠀ ◾️Don’t submerge it in water or soak it to get it clean. I rinse mine quickly, then wipe with a cloth. ⠀ ◾️ Any stuck on bits or rust can be removed by sprinkling some coarse salt in the pan and rubbing with a cloth.⠀ ◾️ Once your pan is clean, dry it thoroughly before storing it. I put mine in the oven upside down, heat it up to 450F, then turn the oven off and let it sit in there overnight.⠀ ◾️ Seasoning (aka baking on a protective oil layer) is key! I usually use coconut oil because it’s relatively affordable and accessible, but I’ve also had flaxseed oil recommended to me! Wipe a light layer of oil all over the pan, then put it upside down in a 450F oven for about an hour. Turn off the oven and let cool.
