For this week’s episode of the ‘Creatively Human’ podcast, I spoke to @katbluejay about the amazing work she’s doing online. One of the reasons I asked her on the podcast is because she’s so open about her mental health journey, which gives permission for others to be too, and that is one of the brilliant things about social media. I do sometimes feel guilty for checking it so much (which I talked about in my last post). As @kbredbeck said in the comments, though, we don’t need to shame ourselves for using social media for connections that do us good, even if we choose or need regular breaks. Isn’t October just the cosiest month? I have come to love this time of year and relish the contrast of the warmth and the chilly. Not drinking alcohol is not a punishment. It's the greatest privilege I've ever had. It's a privilege to wake up every day feeling amazing. It's a privilege to be intune with my deepest desires. I am thankful. I have been given an opportunity to heal wounds, soul search and find new joys in life. It hasn’t been easy, this new life, but it chose me and now Im embracing it. I have so much to be thankful for and I will continue to use it to defeat the negativity I create in my mind. All the natural, beautiful things around me keep me grounded, reminding me to move forward without the things I used to find important. There were two important pieces to my practice yesterday, hence the two videos. The first, “Every Moment Matters,” in the cheesiest way possible🙃 It’s definitely a t-shirt worthy quote but don’t let that lose its meaning. Every moment matters because it’s literally all that we have, (I know, how cliche). BUT we don’t have the past or future right now, we just have this. It’s such a simple concept that it’s so hard to hold on to. And one way I practice that is by moving on purpose, getting off auto pilot, and getting out of the pose the same way I went in. Staying a breath longer, especially when it gets hard. Who cares if you wobble or fall, that’s part of what you have right now. Second, finding where I rush and slowing it down. I tend to miss the moment from mountain pose to forward fold; the way down. So I slowed it down. I tend to fly through chaturanga and upward facing dog. So I slowed it down. It doesn’t have to be a big thing- but when you take action on the areas you’ve been avoiding or “auto-piloting”, there’s a tremendous sense of grounding and coming back to Earth. 💌 Download your copy of my Intuitive Movement Guide for more ways to show up for yourself, move your body and ground your mind. ✨I want a second baby but I’m also scared that I would get PPD again✨ • These were my thoughts 2 years after the birth of my first baby. I wanted to give him a sibling and part of me also wanted to have another go at experiencing the 4th trimester but with a different outlook on it. • When Kai came along I was mentally ready and let go of my self obsession with trying to breastfeed and just focused on FEEDING him period. I was not jotting down every poop, every pee. I was not drilling my head on meeting expectations for this and that. I was not questioning and googling everything to the point where I was self sabotaging myself and then saying- “You see you are doing everything wrong again!!!” • I approached my 4th trimester with Kai more ready. The people around me were lending themselves for cooking, cleaning, taking care of baby while I rested. In the past I had wanted to do it all thinking if I didn’t do it then I was unfit. • The truth is that moms need a support system, especially in the tender weeks following the birth of a baby, we are in a very vulnerable state and not many speak out because of the stigma of motherhood. • I can honestly say I enjoyed my 4th trimester and I didn’t get PPD. I did get the very known baby blues which lasted about 3 weeks. I was very emotional and just the thought of him one day not needing me made me 😭 cry (hence, the baby was just 1 weeks old lol). • PPD May or may not come back with your second baby but the best thing to do is to get educated, informed, seek help so that you can have the mental tools to prepare yourself in the event that it does happen again. • Your not alone mama you have a village of women who will support you. • 🌺bloom (Pic of Kai and I hanging out)

Does anyone else every feel CONTENT OVERLOAD? Constantly consuming some sort of media? Listening to podcasts, watching shows and movies, scrolling Instagram and Facebook, etc etc etc! None of these things are bad, but they can become pretty overwhelming! ✨ Try switching up your bedtime routine tonight. Move your phone charger somewhere that isn’t accessible from your bed so that you are phone free from the time you lay down in bed until the time you wake up. ✨ Removing digital media doesn’t have to make your life boring. Go find a good book! Find a romcom or a comedy or a mystery or a crime thriller or something completely different and keep it by your bed instead. So many of us have/had a father or mother who was: unkind, not around, not loving... and then we believe those unkind words, we believe we are unlovable, we believe we aren’t worthy. Guess what? They are wrong! Wrong! They have a lack of self worth and love. It is not you!! I repeat it.is.not.you. Work hard to not repeat history. Speak kindly to yourself. Tell yourself the things you wish you’d hear from them. Love yourself the way you wish you were loved. Know that life is bigger than your parents (or friend or boss or whomever is unkind). You are truly loved. You are not alone. But healing starts with you. Love yourself. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. Find tools that can help you heal (meditation, exercise, healthy eating, reiki, acupuncture etc). Fill your toolbox up so that you are no longer reliant on others for making you feel worthy and loved. ❤️ You’ve got this beautiful! ❤️❤️❤️

You know the nights, after a long day of work, where every part of you just wants to relax on the couch and watch a little tv because you’re exhausted from the day?? But deep down you know you’d be way better off and feel so much more refreshed if you just got outside? I wanted to talk about another side effect of serious illness that I haven’t spoken about on here before: #friendships. When your world falls apart, people you called friends can disappear. Not for everyone; some are lucky to have true friendships. People I considered my closest friends, didn’t once ask me how I was. They knew I was very ill. They knew I disappeared from Facebook. They all have my number. They could have messaged. One person specifically even told me she couldn’t listen to my “abysmal” messages about suicide. This was someone I considered my closest friend and with whom I’ve been through thick and thin before. This time proved to be too thin.... Do I blame them? No. When something truly devastating happens in your life, people either don’t know what to say or they don’t want to have someone depressing (eg. me) in their lives. I don’t mourn the loss of people who aren’t who I thought they were... I know no one can make it better. I just wanted someone to be there... It’s funny because whenever I hear stories of suicides on the news, people say “if only s/he asked for help...if only they showed their struggle”. I screamed for help. I planned my #suicide daily for months. Almost no one was there. Amazingly, sometimes people you don’t expect, turn out to be there for you. A wonderful woman (who lives abroad), whom funnily I dated briefly a decade ago, turned out to be my greatest support in that time. She knows who she is and I still regard her as one of the greatest and wisest humans on this planet. It’s isolating enough dealing with an illness that robs you of a normal life, makes you prisoner in your own body unable to do the simplest tasks and one that no one understands or even believes. To be completely alone in that time is excruciating. So thank you... P.S. On a loosely related subject. There is a reason why I don’t follow people back on instagram. I cannot watch other people exercising, travelling, having a normal life. It hurts too much. It’s not me saying: poor me. It’s me protecting myself. Imagine losing the love of your life and then seeing her/him with another person in front of you daily. That’s how it feels... #cfsrecvery #cfsme

We are always in the process of leaving an old self as we turn fully towards the next phase...So this week I’ve filled time with all the things I’ve neglected being a mother and a worker over the past years yet I valued. They are the vampires who suck the energy out of you, leaving you pale and blue. Be careful before you take a step closer to them. [ Self Care ] Y’all know I’m not stingy when it comes to self care. I have a facial once a month, a sauna 3-4 times per week and do a weekly face mask (and lots of loving for my skin every day). I’m still working on the ‘Sunday is a day of rest’ and also massages, but I’ll get there! . We all know it’s important, we also know that life is busy. So I’ve cut out the “how can I implement my oils” thinking time and I’ve done the hard work for you 👇🏼 . 💆🏻 Sauna: I have a blend of 15 drops Coriander and 10 drops Arborvitae (10ml roller bottle topped with FCO) which I apply to the soles of my feet before the sauna. Coriander is a great blood cleanser and is very detoxifying. Arborvitae is a fantastic immune support oil and is also cleansing and purifying. I also dry brush before I go into the sauna and add 2 drops of essential oil to the brush. Faves: Lemon (promotes lymphatic drainage), Grapefruit ( #CelluliteBeGone), AromaTouch (promotes circulation) and Pink Pepper ( #CellProtector 💪🏼). 💆🏻 Face Mask: you can make an easy peasy face mask with some pink and/or white kaolin clay (I get mine from @biomestores), some water and 2 drops essential oil. Faves: Lavender (calms irritation and good for dry skin), Geranium (amazing for fellow #FacePickers), Ylang Ylang (great emotionally and also for oily skin), Helichrysum ( #AcneScarsBeGone) and Frankincense (anti-aging). I am also loving the @lamavorganic_au pink clay face mask and you can add your essential oils into that. 💆🏻 Skin loving: I use my gua sha’s (available on my website) once per week with either my beautiful @miskinorganics face oil or a DIY serum with hemp seed oil (just purchase a 250ml container from your local health food store) and 2 drops each of Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Frankincense and Lavender. 💆🏻 Massage: ALWAYS take your oils or a blend with you. I am loving my blend of 15 drops AromaTouch (relaxes muscles), 5 drops Pink Pepper (antioxidant Support and protects your cells) and 5 drops Frankincense (reduces inflammation). . About acceptance 💗 Acceptance happens by not resisting what is right now. By fully allowing what is and investigating. What happened? What do I think? What do I feel and where does it vibrate in my body? This is how we get insight in karma (cause-effect chains) and from there we can ‘move’ wisely, towards a life deeply aligned with our essence. Surrounding ourselves with people, work and places resonating with our deepest truth, supporting, inspiring, and mirroring us. This is what I did the past few years. And it made me happy as well as unhappy again because it is never enough for the mind. It is unsatisfactory. It all is, it always wants something new. So I started meditating deeply again. I feel a deep excitement for truth. To not move. To stay where I am and practice, for now 😊 🧘‍♀️ So this morning I woke up and the first thought I experienced was ‘I don’t want to live like this’. Immediately when mindful I felt this 😊 This thought dissolved as wel as the unpleasant sensations and I meditated for a while. Coming to the experience of thoughts and sensations coming and going in my heart. This first gives joy, then bliss and then when concentration deepens there is simply nothing there. Just life as it is as a stream within. It is bizar these days to experience this atm. Being one with my stories and suffering & the power of 10 year practicing intensively. Because when I sit, it is quickly gone. Meditation is nothing more than experiencing life as it is. Clearly. As detailed as possible. When the mind is as sharp as a knife, it experiences its nature. All comes and goes, there is not a seperate somebody within. It gives a growing sense of okeeness with life as it is. Exactly as it is. 🧘‍♀️ Can you really investigate what happens within 2d? Moment by moment, there is someone else practicing the same thing. It is a practice.
