PASSIVE VS ACTIVE SPINAL MOBILIZATION ⠀
both equally important and valuable. These exercises are about passive mobilization using the legs. Focus on breath and movement synchronization is important here. Slow and steady. 5 seconds inhale and exhale.⠀Start as shown in the video, arms out at 45 degrees to make sure the shoulder blades are seated and the arms are gently engaged into the floor. Focus on VERTEBRAL ARTICULATION. If you use the legs like a suspension bridge here, you’ll get more mobilization. Notice knees moving AWAY from me to traction the spine passively
1. Exhale to gently tuck tailbone ⠀
2. Inhale from that position to raise the hips ⠀
3. Exhale to lower the hips ⠀ —-repeat 2-3 multiple times and hold a few breaths ⠀
4. Inhale to raise hips⠀
5. Exhale place hips on a block ⠀
6. Inhale, then exhale lifting knees, one at a time if needed (navel to spine, corseting)⠀
7. Inhale extend legs (slightly bent is ok to keep pelvis relaxed) ⠀
8. Exhale to slowly lower legs towards head, rocking pelvis on the block ⠀
9. Inhale legs back to neutral extended position. ⠀
—-repeat 8-9 multiple times and hold a few breaths ⠀
10. Lower down from block and check your passive lumbar mobility. ⠀

The path of yoga is about remembering who we are. An ancient remembrance. Not remembering your personality or your personae. But something deeper. The piece of you that is the Oneness that has forgotten itself and mistakenly come to identify as this body and all of the labels we dress ourselves up in. Yoga says we suffer because we have mistaken ourselves to be this body and this mind. The sole purpose of practice is to diminish those false realities, misidentifications, and energies that pull us from alignment with the higher truth of who and what we are. To reduce any of these modifications that take us from the peaceful flow of mind. Physical practice is a key and a method, it’s an auxiliary and preliminary practice to getting us to the the higher states of yoga. Overemphasis on physical practice can have a contrary effect of the goal of yoga by deepening our attachment and connection to this chattering mind and physical body. You thinking this body is you. Do you see? Asana is a beautiful and useful thing. Stay alert and mindful of your relationship to it and to the purpose of practice. And remember to practice taking your seat. Your breath knows. And it will take you back to the Source which is within. That happens in the quiet place. Internally. Never through external performance. Remember.

Woohoo, the December Christmas season is here. ✨ Cue madness, parties and the rush to the finish line before the holiday at the end of the month!
I know when I’m feeling under pressure I tend to bash about the place a bit more, and I bruise like a peach! 🍑 Does anyone else get bruises that just last weeks and weeks? I live in yoga clothes most of the time (comfy!) but at Christmas I like to get dressed up and put on something pretty. 💃 It always used to annoy me if I had bruises as they lasted for ages and meant skirts and dresses were out of the picture unless I slathered on the concealer.😫
Now that I use DōTERRA, when the mad season starts, and the Christmas shopping bags are bashing against my ankles on the way to the train, I know if I get a bruise I can add a little oil and it will help them disappear in double quick time. 🎁 Last year I got a horrific bruise on my leg and thought there’s no way this is going anywhere fast, but I decided to use my oils to see if it made any difference.
What followed was the most rapid healing of a bruise I have ever had in my life. 🌿✨ You can see the pictures, first the bruise came out fully within several days, then it started to reduce down to paler shades of blue, and this is the stage that normally lasts well over a month for me. However by the 11th, the bruise was completely gone. No colour, no swelling and no pain. I was amazed. Yup, I find value in multiple movement modalities in order to serve my ultimate purpose: to help you move better and feel better.
So it’s true.
Yoga poses make appearances in the Olive Grove, but they are not the main course.
Is personal goal is better balance in ardha chandrasana or kicking up into a handstand? Cool.
I have found over time that yoga poses themselves are not necessarily the most optimal way to get you there.
I prefer taking the approach of empowering you with real understanding of how your individual body works and addressing the prerequisites to whatever movement you’re trying to do.
Your options are endless from there. Come play ☺️
