I think it’s so important to keep reminding ourselves that life is seasonal and cyclical. Even when you’ve become a “manifestation master” and your life is radically different than what it was just 6 months ago, you still go through times when there’s a lesson to learn or a challenge to grow through. . . My instagram has become what seems like a “highlight reel.” And even though there’s been some really cool shit happening, I want to remind you that I, too, go through moments of frustration, anger, doubt, and confusion. . . I still feel sadness, get down on myself, have fears, freak out, and fight like cats and dogs with my fiancé Brennan. There are ups and downs even when the ups and downs are now generally much more enjoyable than what they used to be. . . Life is a journey, not a destination. ~ SENSITIVE ~ One word I usually use to describe myself is sensitive and, for the longest time, I’ve seen it as a negative thing. I feel things very deeply, the “good” and the “bad”. I am extremely passionate about the things I love, but I also cry very easily. I used to be ashamed of how emotional I am, but is being emotional necessarily bad? Why is showing emotions seen so negatively by society? Why is being vulnerable equated to being weak? Why can’t we all have open conversations about how we are actually feeling instead of the rehearsed “I’m fine” response? To my fellow empaths know that feeling things so deeply is a beautiful trait even if, at times, it may feel overwhelming. Hang in there 💕🙈. at UCLA

I remember the days I used to drag myself to the gym--literally. I was so fatigued I could have fallen asleep mid-walk. In fact, I did occasionally fall asleep while working at the local college clothing store which posed a big problem when you were the one in charge. This problem was chalked off to low iron and stress which accurately represented my life. I was perpetually in a caloric deficient and had a habit of perfectionism. Most importantly though was that I worked out 7 days a week, 5 of those days being high intensity interval training. I was pushing my body to the limit  and my body was pushing back. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today, my exercise routine looks a lot different it honors how I feel on a given day and it is designed for sustainability rather than for gross physical changes. By approaching exercise in a mindful manner, I have completely changed my relationship to working out.  Mindfulness has brought an almost sacredness to my workout routine and has helped me to treat myself less like someone that needs to be changed and more like someone who needs to be nourished. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Want to know how I shifted my mindset? When I was a kid, I used to hate when adults told me to focus. Like, how? Nobody ever gives you instructions on how to focus. I can lean in, stare you right in the face and my mind is thinking of dinosaurs and pandas for some reason 🦖🦕🐼 The reality is that focus and concentration are actually trainable skills that we can develop through mindfulness. The best advice I was ever given was to “Just slow down” of course it was at my first job while I was overwhelmed taking fast food orders, but it’s continued to surprise me how relevant that is for life. I’ve spent my day traveling and the best part was just slowing down and paying attention to my surroundings. I said this to client earlier in the week and wrote it in my journal today. ❤️ Its what I do...helping you to be more you in all of the spaces you occupy…from the gram, to the boardroom to life. I know it might seem weird at first glance. You are well versed at being you, right? Except when you are changing into what you feel other people want you to be or dimming your light as to not make others feel uncomfortable and not showing up as your whole self. ❤️ When in fact its your whole self that is the magic. Its your story, your why, your quirks and your passions that will help you to connect with the people you want to connect with, create a brand that matters and get your creative work seen/heard/worn/read/bought and used. ❤️ AND its exhausting hiding. My favorite lesson I teach every spring right around Earth Day! If you've never used an Enviroscape watershed model - check your county's conservation district office. It's the perfect lesson on how little things we do every day have can have such a positive or negative impact on our Earth. It's interactive as you can dump chemicals like fertilizers and pesticides (kool-aid powder), excess soil (cocoa powder), and dog poop 🤣 (clay) and see how ultimately it will end up in our water bodies... and will become a part of our water cycle. I have been on the front lines battling anxiety recently. In myself. In others. A wise friend who is much further along in his own journey than I am has been explaining to me how everything we do has a ripple effect. When we let fear and anxiety control us we are being controlled by the past and the future, missing the current moment and failing to leave a positive impact in the current moment. It is a difficult revelation when I think about how hard I am fighting to build myself to a point of making a positive impact in the FUTURE by pursuing education, work and volunteer experience, etc. When I have the opportunity to make a positive impact RIGHT NOW! How many people do I pass by on a daily basis with indifference because I’m too busy doing things I think promise me a great future? How often am I not generous because I’m saving my money for something that will benefit my own future when there are people struggling to survive right now? I think Satan wants to keep our minds focused on the past and future because it keeps us from making an impact when it really matters- in this moment, right now. What would happen if we each made it a point to focus on leaving a positive impact TODAY?! The impact we have might be smaller than that impact we are dreaming of having in the future but if we lived with that intention Every single day, what woulda be the ripple effect? Spending today grappling with these ideas of fear and security and how that leads each one of us to act in certain ways that are harmful to ourselves and others- check out my blog tomorrow for a bigger picture at Walnut Creek, California
