WELLNESS DAYS - . Today @holisticjason and myself were on site at Mid Sun Junior High for their wellness day, as we led two groups of students through a gratitude exercise, breath work techniques, and a guided meditation. - The teachers were blown away at how quiet all of the kids were, as this was not the norm on a Friday, or ever! Anxiety, is a result of a coping mechanism on overdrive and often lingers around depression, it is a chameleon taking on many different forms, from perfectionism to PTSD.Β  When you are caught in a state of hyper-arousal, your breath begins to mimic this state. This signals to the brain that imminent threat is near even when it's not. This mudra accompanied by diaphragm breathing and positive visualization can help reduce the debilitating nature of anxiety. We all laugh and smile in the same language.Β  Many years ago I attended a conference with Dr. Hunter Doherty "Patch" Adams and he changed my perspective on laughter. He uses laughter to connect people and heal the world of sorrows.Β  Laughter, allows for a copious amount of oxygen to the brain and boosts the immune system, among other benefits.Β  I love sharing the joy of laughter with my nieces and nephews and I love watching fake laughter turn into real giggles.Β  I section laughter into 3 segments; Haha, Hoho and Hehe.Β  This is how we begin; Haha: let me hear your loudest Haha and your softest Haha.Β  Throw your hands up and yell Haha and bring your hands down, whispering Haha.Β  Adding body movements to laughter, makes the body happy and the mind happy.Β  Hoho: grab your belly and laugh like Santa, Ho ho ho....repeat this 3 times for extra giggles.Β  Hehe: monkey laughter is my favorite.
