The Shah Mosque / Imam mosque in Esfahan is one of the largest mosques of Iran and besides being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is also regarded as a masterpiece of Persian Muslim architecture. It has a four-iwan (four “gateway”) plan - a typical architectural design to distinguish Persian Shia Islam from their former main Sunni Islam opponent, the Ottoman Empire. The most striking part of the entrance iwan is the ‘muqarnas’ or honeycomb/stalactite vaulting, which is an archetypal form of Iranian architecture. It is a symbolic representation of heaven itself, while the downward hanging structure showed God's presence over the physical world. . . . . . #imtb #damestravel #sheisnotlost #iranmustsee #traveladdict #iranissafe #tappersia #beautifuldestinations #passionpassport #travelinladies #visitiran #wanderlust #roamingwomen #bestplacestogo #girlstoptravel #nextstopiran #mintoorohan #girlpowertravel #femmetravel #travelwomenhub #iranogram #igtraveller #topiranpictures #travelgirl #tourism_iran #irantourism #howdidyoufindiran #womentravel #ladiesgoneglobal #citizenfemme

Some on the amazing TILE DECORATION work of Iranian architecture: On Naghsh-e Jahan / Imam Square in Esfahan stand two beautiful mosques: one for the public, and one once used privately by the royalties. The latter, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque might be smaller and more simple architecturally, but its exquisite tile-work is far superior to that covering the bigger Shah Mosque. To speed up the building process, Shah Abbas I. dropped the former tile mosaic style, and used “haft-rangi” or “seven colored” tiles. The seven colors are dark Persian blue, light Turkish blue, white, black, yellow, green and brown. In the haft-rangi method, artisans painted all the colors at once, then fired the tiles, so the process became a lot quicker than creating each tile with multiple monochrome mosaic pieces combined. This procedure also resulted in intricate and amazing designs.... 😮 The mosque was built in the Safavid period in the beginning of the 17th century, and along with the whole square it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. . . . . #imtb #damestravel #sheisnotlost #iranmustsee #traveladdict #iranissafe #tappersia #beautifuldestinations #passionpassport #travelinladies #visitiran #wanderlust #roamingwomen #bestplacestogo #girlstoptravel #nextstopiran #mintoorohan #girlpowertravel #femmetravel #travelwomenhub #iranogram #igtraveller #topiranpictures #travelgirl #tourism_iran #irantourism #howdidyoufindiran #womentravel #ladiesgoneglobal #citizenfemme

Due to its enormous size, Iran has really diverse geography and landscapes: from the rigid Zagros mountains through the Persian gulf to huge sand and stone desert areas. Dasht-e Kavir or Great Salt desert is a perfect place to feel the desert experience even if you just have an off road jeep trip bumping up and down on dunes to see the sunrise, or camp overnight and see the amazing night sky without light pollution. Breakfast picnic on the spot - usually prepared by the jeep drivers - is a must! 😉 📸 @brose_photo . . . . . #imtb #damestravel #sheisnotlost #iranmustsee #traveladdict #iranissafe #tappersia #beautifuldestinations #passionpassport #travelinladies #visitiran #wanderlust #roamingwomen #bestplacestogo #girlstoptravel #sheisnotlost #mintoorohan #girlpowertravel #femmetravel #travelwomenhub #iranogram #igtraveller #topiranpictures #travelgirl #tourism_iran #irantourism #howdidyoufindiran #womentravel #ladiesgoneglobal #citizenfemme

The Iranian HIJAB issue... controversial story indeed. Fact: yes, ladies must wear it in all public places. As soon as you land, you see all female travelers unpacking their carry on and putting up their headscarves before entering the country. The word ”hijab” means both the headscarf, and the Islamic modest style of dresscode in general. In Iran, in the time of “westernized” Reza Shah (after 1936) a decree officially banned all types of veils (hijab, chador, abaya, etc.) for ladies. Surprisingly (now) fashion photos depicting ladies in mini skirts and revealing dresses were also common - but not everybody felt okay with the new liberal dress-code. After the Islamic Revolution (1979) there was a 180 degree turn: the hijab become compulsory - and yet again, not everybody felt okey with the new conservative enforced approach. Now the hijab is mandatory for all women, even for non Muslims and non-citizens. Although it is obligatory, Iranian ladies kind of tricked the system, and started to use their hijabs as trendy accessories. While keeping the “modesty regulations”, most of them dress in an extremely fashionable and colorful way. ☺️ 📍 Rozeh Mohamadieh Mosque, Yazd . . . . . #imtb #damestravel #sheisnotlost #iranmustsee #traveladdict #iranissafe #tappersia #beautifuldestinations #passionpassport #travelinladies #visitiran #wanderlust #roamingwomen #bestplacestogo #girlstoptravel #sheisnotlost #mintoorohan #girlpowertravel #femmetravel #travelwomenhub #iranogram #igtraveller #topiranpictures #travelgirl #tourism_iran #irantourism #howdidyoufindiran #womentravel #ladiesgoneglobal #citizenfemme

Waking up early morning in Yazd, and finding this beautiful view from the rooftop terrace along with a cup of coffee.... The Jameh - Friday or Congregation - mosque dates to the 12th century and its minarets are said to be tallest in Iran. It is the city’s greatest architectural landmark and also depicted on the 200 rial banknote. The neighborhood of the mosque, the historical inner city of desert embraced Yazd, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. . . . . . #imtb #damestravel #sheisnotlost #iranmustsee #traveladdict #iranissafe #tappersia #beautifuldestinations #passionpassport #travelinladies #visitiran #wanderlust #roamingwomen #bestplacestogo #girlstoptravel #sheisnotlost #mintoorohan #girlpowertravel #femmetravel #travelwomenhub #iranogram #igtraveller #topiranpictures #travelgirl #tourism_iran #irantourism #howdidyoufindiran #womentravel #ladiesgoneglobal #citizenfemme
