BOSU Ball & Implications in athletic performance While there is some evidence to suggest increased core activation, this minor increase comes at the cost of a major reduction of force generation. While training with an instability device, the force-generating capacity and power output can be less than 70% of what can be acheived on a stable surface. TRAP COMBO 👍 . These are 2 prehab exercises I’ve been using recently for my shoulder recovery. The first is a trap 3 raise focusing on lower traps and helps with overhead movements like the press to handstand. The second is the Victorian raise which is used by rings athletes but is also great for rear delts, lower traps and rhomboids. Let's talk about some of the finer points of the clean movement today! 👇🏼👇🏼 . At the start the clean your head should be up and eyes focused straight forward. 👀As the bar is pulled off the ground & slightly into the body, the chest will remain over the barbell with the back flat. ✅ . A violent contact with the upper thigh propels the barbell upwards as the body extends. This final extended position is called "triple extension" as the hips, knees and ankles are driven into an open position. Next, the athlete jumps under the bar while actively pulling it into the rack position on the top of his chest.✅ . This movement will reveal a sight "S curve" bar path. While not everyone will have the exact same degree of bar path, this is what we usually expect to see. Tracing the bar helps you see if you have problems in your pulling motion. For example, common problems include the bar kicking away from the body at the start of the Pull or after making contact with the hips (instead of staying close to the body). ❌ . Seeing as I’ve been practising flutter kicks against walls for a while I decided today was the day to try it without a wall. Not bad for a first attempt, I think. In other news, the dog bloody hates our new house and trembles every time I put him in his bedroom 😞😞 planning on taking him for a long walk tomorrow to give him some chill time. Plus I enjoy being outside in the fresh air looking for conkers and new views.

In standing and walking it also provides postural stability. The piriformis will remain active at a low grade contraction throughout seated positions as well. Due to it's constant activity the piriformis is prone to stiffening up and entrapping the sciatic nerve, causing the symptoms you feel with Sciatica. • Interestingly enough the action of the piriformis can also change depending on the position of the hip. It remains an external rotator of the hip at less than 60% of hip flexion, but when the hip is flexed at greater than 60 degrees it acts as an internal rotator due to it’s positioning at this angle. All this running has defo kicked started fat loss again . Even though I’m still consuming over 3000 cals a day, the long runs are still keeping me in a big enough calorie deficit to lose body fat . I don’t want to lose too much muscle mass so I’ll always make sure I’m still strength training 3 times a week and that I keep my protein levels where they need to be. . If you are a runner and not doing any form of strength work then why not start? The Latissimus Dorsi, or Lats, are a very important but often forgotten shoulder stabilizer. For my baseball guys, the lats are anterior shoulder stabilizers when you lay your arm back to throw and then become powerful internal rotators as you transition into the acceleration phase of the throwing motion. Many baseball strength programs have a heavy dosage of lat exercises in them but often few, if any, lat stretches. Lat strains are fairly common in the throwing population but are sometimes misdiagnosed as biceps tendinitis. This is because lat strains can create anterior shoulder pain due to their attachment on the front of the shoulder. The video above is one of many lat stretches but it is becoming one of my favorites. Make sure that you keep a tight core and neutral spine throughout the stretch 👍🏼
