When I need to make a quick getaway from the city I always hit Falls Road. It's a winding wooded road straight out of Baltimore that goes all the way up to the Mason Dixon line. The road also cuts off into Prettyboy Reservoir, that provides plenty of great places to relax by the water. --- #bmwmotorrad #bmwmotorcycle #bmwmotorradusa #makelifearide #everydayadventures #bmwgsfans #bmwgs1200 #r1200gsadventure #motophoto #baltimore #bmwgsfans #curatedmoto #moto_adventure #thebmorecreatives #ironandair #caferacerxxx #crxxx #croig #caferacersofinstagram #ridemotorcycleshavefun #motorcyclephotography #nightphotography #canon5dmarkiii #spiritofGS #adventure #adventureisoutthere #exploretocreate #curatedmoto @wheelsguru #motor_adventure at Prettyboy Reservoir

Decided to go for a relaxing road ride this afternoon. The GS was patiently waiting its turn as usual. Riding this bike always feels like coming home. Comfort, speed, agility. Just hard to find anything to complain about. Still for the monthly cost it's hard to justify a bike I might ride once every couple weeks. Decisions. at Silverdale, Washington

I also plan to blog and have more discussions. Just testing the waters to see if there is interest, I love sharing my obsession. I appreciate having people to share with. Never be afraid to make a change, the world is always changing and there's no reason you can't change and adapt along with it. Fires are just one of many ways that nature changes. Yes this fire was naturally caused. Pictured is the Norse Peak fire earlier this month. It is no longer on the incident website, so I'm looking forward to exploring that area again before the snow starts to fall.

Lately I've been a little down about the summer coming to a rather abrupt and resounding end, fall is clearly in the air and changes with the weather are palpable. I didn't see all that I had planned to see, I was too ambitious to be honest. But the more I think about it, the more I realize how much I have learned to include a lot of personal growth and personal experiences. My riding has improved vastly, my confidence has increased, I have plans for the fall, winter, spring and next summer in the works. I bought a dirt bike and plan to take advantage of all its capabilities and what it has to teach me. I'm truly fortunate and excited for the opportunities I have. I don't know what I would be doing if I hadn't found motorcycling about 5 years ago. Clearly I wouldn't be where I am, and I like where I am.

Mountain or a cloud? This is from back in July. This ride had kicked my ass, I tried out a new area and ended up getting turned around by hill that was way too dangerous to attempt alone. The road leading up to it was practically single track. It was rocky, loose and overgrown. But what really got me was the headache/stomach ache that start about halfway into the ride. So I ended up bailing and heading up here. What an view, I hadn't been up here when it wasn't raining and it didn't disappoint. I refuse to let a few things going wrong slow me down, there is always a way to improve an experience. You just have to find it, adapt, find a new plan, and execute. #wa_adv_riders #washingtonstate #mtrainier #mountains #cascades #snow #glaciers #forest #iloveithere

I love exploring overgrown roads. They offer a few challenges that you don't get on the maintained ones. Fallen trees, rockslides, washouts, and quiet. Getting hurt isn't an option because the chances of someone coming by is slim. at Mount Rainier National Park

Oh the places you will go. I bought this bike because it fell in my lap, the deal was too sweet and I couldn't pass it up. I was completely happy with my 1200GS...or so I thought. The GS has become my road bike, the AT has become my back road stormer. I burned through two rear tires in about 2.5 months and about 2500 miles, all of it within 100 miles of my house. I'm slowly going to travel further and further away from home building my skills on the big bikes and little bikes sharing everything along the way. Well it looks like the big bikes will be dormant this weekend because of the KDX. I got a new front sprocket on replacing a very worn one with a missing tooth. Got new rear brake pads on despite stripping a screw. Some minor dremeling allowed me to install the pads with only one retaining screw removed. Easy enough. Now it's on to the carb and I think I'll be at 💯 for my Monday ride. While the KDX 200 might not be a unicorn bike just yet, everybody that knows what they are has told me of their legendary status. They tell me two things, they rattle like crazy due to an offset pin and the KIPS Valves and that they are excellent woods bikes and all around screamers. Been a while since I've ridden a dirt bike, but I'm up for the excitement and the challenges ahead of me. I know the KDX is. Sorry about the break in the adventure coverage but this is my story and thanks for following along! #wlfenduro #xladv #advzach #adv #moto_adventure #adventure #adventures #motorbike #motorcycle #wa #washington #motorcyclesofinstagram #pnw #motoadventure #wheretheroadends #motorcycletouring #advlife #advrider #dualsport #dualsportlife at Auburn, Washington

Bethel Ridge was easily one of my top two rides this summer. I almost don't want to return because this ride was absolutely perfect. The views were incredible, the sky was gorgeous, the weather was perfect, and the elk were bugling. Rides are always full of challenges and fun but this one was pure fun, and all new to me. That experience is just a fond memory and now I'm in search of the next on. I didn't get as many rides in as I expected but the summer went quick and it was my first full year in the PNW. My beta test for lack of a better term. Next year will be amazing and the fall season is going to be great as well.

"Get lost" that's the advice I was given today, when I asked how to bring a purpose/meaning back into my life. I've been very introspective lately, and this is not something I often do. I'm usually moving from project to project, job to job, thrill to thrill, location to location. Now I've transitioned out of the military and into the "grown up" part of my life. The world has slowed down to normal speed where I could be in the same house I live in now in 5 years time. This is a new concept for me, and it's taken me by surprise. It's a level of comfort and stability that I haven't experienced since my youth. I remember all the aspirations I had as a kid, travel the world, meet people, explore the woods, live in WA, buy a motorcycle(on my 7th in 4 years) and a few other ones. I've actually achieved a lot of my youthful aspirations, at least in part, already. Now I think what I need to do is pick which ones to explore more, which ones to replace with something new. What's the next level? It's time to set some goals, some plans and above all continue to enjoy the life I have left with the people who are along for the ride with me. My new KDX is the start of that, it's my dirt training bike to bring my riding to the next level. Excuse me while I get lost and try some new shit. Pictures are as follows. 1. My GS at the avenue of the giants. 2. Me at about 7 or 8 trying on my dads helmet...if I only knew. 3. Me in front of the USS Dwight D Eisenhower for the last time. 4. Me on the front of the Ike doing something 5. Me in the desert in the UAE 6. Me on top of the Fremont troll in Seattle 7. My first time seeing Rainier that close after riding to the top of a mountain. 8. Me enjoying my first day of work at a BMW dealership 9. Me after I rode from San Diego to the strait of Juan De Fucha up the west coast. 10. Out with the surprising Shinko 805 and in with the critically acclaimed Motoz Tractionator Adventure. Looking forward to putting this tire through its paces and seeing if it lives up to the hype. To me it sounds like that magical balance between the performance TKC80 that doesn't last long but has predictable and good grip in every situation and the K60 scout which shouldn't go anywhere near a rainy day but lasts for many thousands of miles. Second thing of note is my fatty tool roll by Mosko Moto. For tasks that I may have to perform in the middle of nowhere by myself I prefer to use the tools that I always bring along. So out came my tool roll. This thing is big, it's not tiny which the name should tell you. But it organizes and protects your valuable tools. It's outer jacket is waterproof and is a perfect place to put everything you remove from the bike, thus keeping it clean. Those with hard aluminum bags like me should definitely consider a waterproof tool roll like this one, they may be a little more secure than soft bags but they are rarely waterproof except after the water gets in. I've used the fatty tool roll 3 times, twice on the road and it has always performed perfectly. Last week I even had some water in the panniers and my tools were perfectly dry even though they were on the bottom. @moskomoto FTW (4688 miles on the bike for my reference) at Auburn, Washington

This might be why my rear tires don't last very long. It's impossible for me to resist sliding around corners, and to keep it spinning long after the slide. I've always gone everywhere as fast as conditions and my skill allow. Now that my skills are starting to allow such maneuvers... I'd better get more practice. #klimlife

Finally got to do a ride through the Olympics. Things started out perfect, the roads were open and just damp enough to keep the dust down. Temperatures were great and the visibility was halfway decent. Only weird thing was all the 15 passenger vans, I saw 5 in about 30 minutes. Then it started to drizzle, no big deal, but next thing I know I'm in the mist and it's raining hard. Foolishly I didn't put my Gore-Tex on until I was a little too wet, and it was only my jacket liner. I finished my 70 mile route and bailed out throughly soaked by this point. Rode 45 miles to the closest gas station and replaced my base layers and added all my liners. Only things I couldn't replace were my boots/socks and my gloves but I was mostly warm. I really only brought my liners as dual purpose padding in the panniers. My boots are waterproof, but if you don't have the tops covered it doesn't matter. It could have turned out really bad if I didn't bring the warm stuff I had. I've ridden completely drenched before with less than adequate gear for hundreds of miles and l learned my lesson. Still I could have actually checked the weather. Being prepared saved my adventure, and I had a great time. I can't wait to go back and enjoy those deep dark and rugged woods some more, they were more epic than I could have imagined. #crf #crf1000l #africatwin #hondaafricatwin #honda_powersports_us #offroad #touratechusa #touratech #upshift_online #madeforadventure #wlfenduro #xladv #advzach #adv #moto_adventure #adventure #adventures #motorbike #motorcycle #wa #washington #motorcyclesofinstagram #pnw #motoadventure #wheretheroadends #motorcycletouring #advlife #advrider #dualsport #dualsportlife

Took this on June 5th. Seems like it was so long ago, while at the same time seeming like yesterday. It's been a pretty good summer season and I'm looking forward to the fall riding to come. Each season has its challenges and to be honest I welcome them all. Tomorrow I'll hopefully finish off my second rear tire of the season so I can try out a new tire that has had rave reviews so far. As always thanks for following along. I'm honored that people enjoy the content I put out. It's a lot of work, but if there was ever an epitome of a "labor of love" this would be it.

In the 1980 eruption approximately 57 people were killed along with thousands of animals and fish. 1300 feet of height was lost and a crater over 2000 feet was created. The initial explosion was estimated to be be 7 megatons, which is more than 5000 times the Hiroshima explosion. Fortunately the area north of St Helens was and still is sparsely populated. It reminds us to respect these sleeping giant volcanoes that dot the landscape in the Pacific Northwest.
