Client: Alec Huston . Alec has been working with me since October of 2019. Alec originally came to me with some shoulder issues. (Tightness and discomfort in his upper trap and deltoids) We worked for a few weeks, then during one of his workouts, he felt a pop in his lower back, followed by his pain, gave me a ring. (Picture 1) . He after a series of chiropractic adjustments to get his pain down, we started delving into his core. Looking at his limited ranges of motion, testing and treating the limited ranges, and started building internal core stability, to create external mobility. Even with the quarantine, I have taught him proper isometrics to do at home in between sessions to help keep his body stable. He has come along way into changing his lifting pattern to accomplish the proper exercises with a MAT mindset to warm up, and cool down, and it has helped him grow and will continue to help him during this hiatus. This is the change we have so far. Jan 16-April 1st. More to come💪🏽

74 YEAR OLD WOMAN IMPROVES BALANCE WITHIN 2 MINS DURING ONLINE MAT® SESSION... 💪 ▪️ Muscle inhibition (I.e diminished sensorimotor feedback) undoubtedly results in poor balance. ▪️ It was almost impossible for my client to stand on her left leg without losing balance and it felt very unstable during exercise (knee collapsing in during squats etc). ▪️ After activating one muscle in her left hip (which took 2 minutes) her balance immediately improved and she could stand on one leg. Almost a week later and the positive effects are still there. Los HIIT, TABATA, IAI y todo lo que tenga que ver con alta intensidad y corta duración no son aconsejables en estos momentos. Es preferencial la baja intensidad y la larga duración. O tal vez, seguir la misma aplicación, pero modificando los tiempos, es decir, TABATA tiene una relación de esfuerzo - descanso de 1:1/2, para poder hacer los ejercicios de TABATA en un sistema de entrenamiento REGENERATIVO, la opción seria que la relación de esfuerzo - descanso fuera de 1:3, es decir, la “TABATA PANDEMICA” (término que acabo de inventar) sería como los ejercicios Intermimentes de Alta Intensidad para nuevas personas que aún no están adaptadas al entrenamiento y por lo mismo, necesitan adaptaciones mas amigables al sistema, moviéndote 20 segundos y descansando 60 segundos, durante 60 minutos, de esta forma, podrás liberar endorfinas y contraer tus músculos sin agotarte. 6 MONTHS OF SHOULDER PAIN FIXED IN ONE ONLINE MAT® SESSION! 💥 ▪️ When it comes to treating pain and dysfunction, it’s what you *can’t* do that’s important not what *can* do because it’s what you *can’t* do that’s breaking you down! ⚠️ ▪️ My new client here over in Wales couldn’t retract, extend or horizontally abduct her left shoulder which was a clear sign that the muscles responsible for those motions were inhibited. It was impossible for her to do Barbell Back Squats because she couldn’t get the bar on her back. All other upper body weights exercises felt unstable and painful on her left shoulder. Client’s back of the neck felt tight when trying to put chin down to chest. She’d been trying to stretch the tight muscles every day to “release” them but it wasn’t really helping and the aches and pains just kept getting worse. Why? 🤔 ▪️ Well, because muscle tightness is secondary to muscle weakness [The Roskopf Principle] so she was only ever dealing with the symptoms not the root cause. ▪️ In other words, it's the weak/inhibited muscles that *cause* the tightness in the opposing muscles. One of the frequent conversations that we have noticed in our practice is the “I had that too” conversation. Oftentimes, when dealing with certain kids concerns, such as extreme shyness, caused by unsettled anxiety, or very restless sleep, or some behavioral issues one of parents says “Oh! I was exactly like that when I was little”. Or “Her older sibling had that too”. Interestingly, how their reaction is when we point to them: “So because you were in the same developmental situation, you take it as normal, correct?”. Frequently we get back a very shocked response: “Errrr…. Wow, I never thought of that… I guess so…”. “Did you have struggles while growing up, related to this issue?” – “Yes, but I outgrew them and now I am okay”. “So, you think that your child’s destiny is to repeat your struggles? What if there would be the way for you to NOT have those bad experiences in life – would that make your life easier as a child and a teenager?” – “Ummm…” This is where our help becomes useful. What we take as a part of our world sometimes can be the very root of our issues. Behavioral, social, psychological, physical, even physiological – just because you were that kid that struggled with anxiety trying to overcome public speeches, and that left serious psychological and emotional scarring, doesn’t mean that your kid is doomed to go through the same path and build the same blisters. Likewise, the fact that older brother was having troubles sleeping due to some unresolved emotional issues, doesn’t mean that younger brother’s sleep issues are normal. They both can be subject to same or different concerns, manifesting themselves similarly. There are no ready answers to anything. Sometimes we accept our experiences as normal, even when they aren’t. TIGHT HAMSTRING FIX... ▪️ My client over in New Zealand was suffering from very tight hamstrings on his left leg. This was causing knee pain (even when walking!) and massively affecting his leg training and cardio training. The stretching and foam rolling on his tight hamstrings only seemed to help temporarily but the tightness kept coming right back despite many years of diligent effort. 🤯 ▪️ After just a handful of online @muscleactivationtechniques sessions, his hamstrings are no longer tight. ▪︎Most of the mistakes people...even some of the trainers are doing is just a stretching on the cold muscle, without proper warming up...Or, if they warm up, they do not warm up properly. Don't expect any results if you're not willing to put in the work. 👊 At ~135 lbs I've lost 10-15 lbs over a year by following simple healthy habits such as drinking mostly water, cutting most processed foods and limiting food outings. Benefiting from a lower BMI also lets me work on gaining new muscle weight where it matters while remaining lean. 🍃 Love using the Fat Gripz with the heavier weights. In the latest blog post from @muscleactivationtechniques “The Paradigm Shift to Muscle Activation Techniques®,” we learn how MAT® is unlike traditional modes and methods of dealing with pain and tightness, as it addresses the cause of these complaints rather than simply (and temporarily) quelling the symptom(s). Whether it’s a different modality, or a pill that temporarily blocks pain or discomfort, if the complaints remain mostly constant despite one’s efforts, the cause is not being addressed.
