Celeriac Mash though 😍 29g protein, 341 calories... And the serving was massive! 😍💚 Swipe over for cals + macros 👉 Cutting calories slightly this week which means being smarter with food choices to try to avoid getting hungry! ⚖️ For the mash I boiled the celeriac until it was soft, then added a little salt + pepper & mashed it up - too easy! Served with steamed broccoli and grilled tomato & Linda McCartney veggie sausages - it made 2 large portions & took roughly 15 mins 😄🍅🌭 Enjoy! For me it is essential when trying to lose weight, I always make sure I’ve got a big drink while eating, not only does it help digestion but it makes us feel fuller. We often mistake hunger for being thirsty so if you think you are hungry just grab a large glass of water and see how you feel after. Last week I exercised on Monday and then didn't work out again until Saturday. It's SO easy to get lazy and get sucked back into the couch. I had to make a conscious effort to run a 5k on a Saturday but I knew as soon as I did I'd be back in the right mindset. @erikashannonmovement and @cecemarizu (@dailyburn) and meal planning are just what I needed to get my butt back in gear!

Struggling at the moment to recognise the progress being made. I’m down the gym at least three times a week and calorie counting whilst making healthy food choices. It’s only been two months and I’m struggling to see the progress but I’m getting lots of comments on how much weight I’ve lost (not loads, it’s 16lbs) but also how much my shape is changing. Well I’m here to tell you this doesn’t need to be the case. Especially if you’re the average Joe who is just wanting to trim up a little for the Christmas party or get a bit fitter to improve your health. . Unless you’re planning on stepping on stage in the next couple of months you can be a little flexible to avoid you becoming that person who’s questioning the coffee maker way too much on exactly how much milk they put in your drink as it has to go in the app otherwise the days ruined... . This is not the case... . Make sure you’re tracking the big stuff: Meals High calorie drinks (I’m looking at you Starbucks) Snacks . Little things such as splashes of coffee, mints, cordial juice, that small taste of your partners food... these things will not ruin your progress. . Veggies are another big one. I personally don’t like to track them and recommend my clients don’t track them. Just get them in. They’re a pain to measure if they’re frozen for example and often a good portion of veggies will come to ~50 calories max. Don’t waste your time just get them in 👍 . What foods have you been way too serious about tracking? Tried something a bit different for breakfast this morning, inspired by a slimming world recipe. I think they're described as 'eggy cups' Very easy to make: * Put some grated cheddar, diced ham and spring onion into a ramekin * Crack in one large egg * Pierce the yolk and add a splash of milk (literally a teaspoon will do) * Pop in the microwave for 90 seconds Et voilà! (I added tomatoes to mine but only for the last 20 seconds or so as otherwise they tend to pop in the microwave) I wasn't really sure how this recipe would turn out, but it's actually very nice and has given me another breakfast option to play with. There's also lots of other different fillings that could be added - I think mushrooms or peppers would be nice! I had mine with a toasted sandwich thin with a little flora light butter, so this whole meal was only about 300 kcal, but really filled me up . . .

Exercise: Run (2.7 miles) Compared to some I run pretty slow. I used to be ashamed of my pace but I'm trying hard to get out of that mindset. I'm faster than people that don't run because they can't be bothered and I'm faster than I used to be when I was one of those people. BUILD A BACK By @skiman.factual.fitness - It looks complicated and intimidating but it’s important to realize that most back exercises overlap and will hit multiple areas of your back simultaneously. You don’t necessarily need a specific exercise for each part. - The latissimus dorsi (lats) is one of the largest muscles of the back which gives you that v-taper. Pull-ups and pulldowns target your lats but your lats are also pretty heavily involved in rows. Although the teres major is technically a separate muscle, you’ll be hitting it with the same exercises. - The rhomboids are in the middle of your back and can be targeted with rows. The trapezius (traps) are at the top and visible from the front but they actually extend much lower down the back than people realize. They are directly targeted with shrugs but deadlifts do a pretty good job hitting them too (as well as your entire back). - The rear delts are involved in just about every back exercise but to isolate them, face pulls and reverse flyes are my favorite. Facepulls will take care of the teres minor as well. - Although it looks complicated, to simplify things and make sure you’re hitting everything, I recommend 2-4 vertical pulls (pull ups, pulldowns) and 2-4 horizontal pulls (barbell rows, cable rows) spread over 2 sessions per week. There are multiple ways you can set up your calories to ensure you are in a calorie deficit. ✅Consistent Approach - keep the same calories everyday and monitor weight changes and body fat to ensure you are in a deficit. Activity levels will change week to week. ✅Weekend Warrior - the weekend tends to be when most people “fall off the wagon” but that’s ok as long as you prepare for it before. Unfortunately this means calories will need to drop through the week allowing you to have more at the weekend. ✅Training Day Tank - higher calories on the days you train. Which aids with recovery. You are also normally more hungry after working out. Along with lower calories on days you don’t train. However you must ensure you get adequate protein on these days. ✅Cheat Day Charlie - 1 day of the week where you go a bit wild and eat what you want. This is coupled with a consistent approach through the rest of the week. 🙌🏻 - Combo of all 4. You could in theory use a combination of them all over the course of a month. Especially when we are coming into Christmas time where nights out and 3 course meals become the norm. Todays session. Forgot to turn my watch on at the beginning, so missed around 20 mins. Deadlifts with core after every set, power walk along the canal and back up the hill, back in the gym for kettlebell swings and alternating squats, lighter deadlifts with increased speed and a set of overhead press (i struggled with those after loads of arms yesterday) I'm burning far less calories than I was initially which is a bit of a bummer. In March @brandy_shank_a_bitch_roberts of #eatthecakenutrition and I set a goal of 100 pounds by January 1st. With her guidance and that of @_wont_be_ruled and the other coaches at @everhardcrossfit, I hit that goal today with a loss of 102 pounds, as represented in the photo with two 45 pound bumper plates, a 10 pound dumbbell and two one pound weights. I'm beyond grateful for the community of people pushing me to do my best. I recognize that had I pushed even 20% harder to stay on track with my macros, I'd have hit this a month sooner, but I found ways to get back on track. Next 100 due by June 2019. Let’s talk volume for a second... these two foods have nearly the same macronutrient count. If you’re hungry and on a cut, lean toward the higher volume foods. Candy is great, I love it in moderation and eat it when I get cravings...BUT just because I can make candy fit in my numbers, that does not mean I always should. At the same time, if you’re on a mass and feel like there’s no way possible you can fit anymore food in your mouth, go for foods with a little bit lower volume. This is by no means an endorsement to eat like an asshole… But rather to be smart with your fave partitioning. When in doubt? Volume over everythaaaang. Want more tips and tricks like these?
