Day 4 of the @myhousethismonth challenge is ‘Floor treatment’. - 1 When we first moved in there was a pretty grim green carpet that was smelly and had no life left. One evening we decided to just be done with it and take it up. It was very easy, though the underlay was stuck to the floorboards as it was so old and worn. Not quite sure how many more Christmas decorations I can physically fit in this room and I am even pondering putting little lights on the fig leaf because well why not! I love sitting in here with the glow of the Christmas lights and nothing else - I'd keep them up all year if I could. I bet it'll look so bare without it all, at least there's over a month left of having it all decorated. I've gone traditional again with the tree and stuck to red and green and then decided to throw in the dark blue curve ball which it beautiful. This hunk of wood that I just made a valiant attempt at styling used to be part of a DIY entryway/TV console my husband and I made years ago. The other components of that console have been transformed into a coffee table and end table, respectively. I like the idea of a bench here in the bedroom — it’s currently concealing SOME of our standard clothing clutter — but it’s bulky and makes for a narrowish space when walking around the bed. Plus it introduces yet another shade of wood (there are SEVERAL already). Worth it?
