The Glaoui acted as regents of southern Morocco for the colonial French. Their accumulated wealth was vast. Thami el Glaoui became head of the family in 1918, manoeuvring himself into a position of wealth and power. An interest in agriculture and mineral resource, enabled Thami to bolster his personal wealth. As previously mentioned, Thami became a desirable acquaintance; with the likes of Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin visiting the nobleman at his residence in Marrakech. • He was even present at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, as a guest of Churchill. His exuberant gifts; an ornate dagger and jewelled crown were rejected, on the grounds that it was not customary to receive gifts from those not representing their state. • Thami represented a different time in Moroccan history. He displayed significant privilege, granting little to the significant disadvantaged populations in the country. During drought, the baron was said to have purchased large swathes of cheap, yet abundant land. On some of this land, he built the Royal Marrakech Golf Club. A space that Thami used to welcome foreign dignitaries. When the colonial French questioned such developments, Thami merely granted their top officials playing rights on the course. at Imlil

This shop is located by North Frederick Street in city centre. The store has various selections to purchase as seen on the signage put up. What I love about this photo is the colour that the store gives out, it is impossible to ignore. It gives me a strong market/locality feeling to it and looks as it has been through decades (which probably have). . . . . . . . #35mm #kodakcolourplus #canoneos300 #filmwave #film #filmphotomag #negativefeedback #analogphotography #filmisnotdead #shopfront #local #irish #yellow #localshop #analog #market #kodak #colorplus #colourplus at Dublin, Ireland

GOLEM EFFECT Related to the well-known Pygmalion effect, which states that high expectations yield high results, the Golem effect designates the opposite of this, where negative or low expectation is believed to yield low performance. The expectation in this case work as self-fulfilling prophecy that can lead to negative results. This effect is mostly seen and studied in educational and organisational environments. The Golem effect was tested in a study done in 1991 by Babad et al. The differential expectancy effects were tested on 26 biased and unbiased students and teachers. While the high-bias teachers treated the students they perceived to be of low potential negatively, the unbiased teachers treated all the students equally. At the end of the study a clear distinction in terms of student's actual performance was observed. Students with low expectations went on to perform poorly as opposed to students who were expected to do well by their teachers. In another study done by Davidson and Eden they found that even highly skilled individuals could fall prey to the Golem effect which could potentially downgrade their performance.
