~SELF LOVE~ * * * Part of my natural self healing journey was to start focusing on me! * Holistically - which means looking after my Mind Body Soul * When we are not nourishing all 3 we are out of alignment! * What sucked for me was all 3 were f**ked๐Ÿ˜ฉ * So I started nourishing my body with my amazing little health gems as I just wasnโ€™t getting what I needed from my foods due to feeling sick & not being hungry & not being a place to be motivated to cook nice things & they aligned with all my holistic, vegan, scientific values! * I then started on my body by means of weekly remedial massage, yoga/meditation & mindfulness. * Iโ€™m trying really hard to improve my routine daily by practicing more mindfulness. By being at 1 with myself & not feeling weird about it or guilty & by being truly present & greatful. * I do this by journaling everyday, listening to a 10 min guided meditation & then just being present. * Enjoying the sun on my face, playing with my puppies, listening to the birds, & watching the breeze in the trees & cloud watching, are some of my favs! * Breathing is so important, take note of your breath, I often breathe in for 4, hold for 4 & out for 4. * Did you know when we are stressed we start shallow breathing? Try slowing it down & see how quickly it calms you. One of the most unexpected & emotional rollercoasters Iโ€™ve been on, is the challenge of breastfeeding. My baby nursed so well until she was 1 month old. Then, my body suddenly stopped producing milk. Iโ€™ve tried everything. Supplements, teas, eating foods that increase production, vitamins, lactation consultants, pumping all day and night, manual extraction, patience, persistence & above all else - praying. I still havenโ€™t given up. I thought it was a due to a bad latch, lost focus, or a temporary medication I had to take. But, as it turns out, the cause is out of my control. I was diagnosed with PCOS recently, which I was told for me, is a huge contribution as to why my body canโ€™t make enough milk. That there is no cure for PCOS & the medicine to help manage my symptoms (which in doing so, would most likely increase my milk) is unsafe to take while breastfeeding. The amount of frustration I felt at that moment was immeasurable. I was told the chance of most women getting pregnant naturally with this condition is slim to none & that Iโ€™m very lucky. Still, not being able to feed my baby with the nutrients to protect her is devastating as a mother & weighs so heavy on me every single day. Iโ€™ve shed countless tears wondering why, feeling guilty, questioning if she will have a higher risk of illness in her life & being shamed by other mothers. Many days Iโ€™ve felt like a terrible mom. Through talking to God, I have now begun to remind myself that everyoneโ€™s journey in motherhood is different. How grateful I am that I was able to strictly breastfeed her for that 1 solid month. Iโ€™m so thankful that I was even able to conceive her, unplanned without fertility treatment. Itโ€™s truly a miracle. And at least I live in country where thereโ€™s an abundance of formula. At least my baby is always fed, healthy & gaining weight on target. So, to all the moms out there that can relate & face struggle with nursing, itโ€™s okay. Youโ€™re not a bad mom. It doesnโ€™t mean love your baby any less than moms who can make enough milk. Any time you start to doubt yourself, just look at your babyโ€™s smile. That smile means youโ€™re doing more than alright & she loves you endlessly, breastfed or not.

Yesterday I went clothes shopping, Iโ€™m not a fan...never have been, but as Iโ€™m in transition I needed some things. Standing in a change room is daunting, the lights donโ€™t allow for hiding, every lump and bump is there to see. At first I went to that place we all have the โ€˜argghhhhhh that looks blahโ€™ place. My favourite breakfast at the moment - Bircher muesli with sliced strawberries. I prepare a big batch then have breakfast for the next few days. In the morning I simply scoop some Bircher in my bowl and add some berries. Perfect if you are low on time or energy. Plus itโ€™s got a nice balance of ingredients with the oats, seeds, fruit and yoghurt, which makes for a satisfying meal. Dharma 2 challenge day 3! Ashtanga Namaskara "knees chest, chin" pose. I remember seeing an article discussing how this isn't a suitable alternative pose to Chatarunga. Totally correct - it isn't. It's a different posture completely. It's so funny how we are as humans, trying to always compare things that were never meant to be compared to in the first place. Ashtanga Namaskara is of course a heart opener. It lengthens through the chest and back, while still strengthening the arms. Another day, another bowl of coconut & berry luscious #oats ๐Ÿ’— Yesteray I received my @my_health_addiction #organic whey vanilla protein so I was excitedddd to try it this morning in my oats ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ TASTY ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ I suppose I donโ€™t know everything about what a good protein powder needs to have, however, this organic vanilla whey protein has 21.6g protein per serve, 2.6g carbs & 2.2g fat - I think thatโ€™s pretty good.. oh & 1.6g sugar ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ | Up bright & early this morning for GF45 which is a cardio/weights circuit class & now getting ready to teach Metafit โ˜€๏ธ YAS finally mid-semester break so no more new content for the next 2 weeks so I can review everything from my subjects & also do some relaxing ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป HAPPY THURSDAY XO
