I’m not really sure what my deal is lately but I have been struggling to find a breakfast that actually feels me up in the morning. No matter what I’ve been eating whether it’s a ton of fruit, a huge bowl of zucchini oats, or pretty much anything else I put together for breakfast, I’m always looking for something else and feeling hungry. Considering I am eating a lot of food in the morning and I’m still feeling this way, then I have to contribute it to missing a nutrient that my body is craving in the morning. After trying out different breakfast this week I feel like this may do the trick considering it is filled with all of the macro nutrients and along with some micro nutrients. Haven't done a school lunch post in a while! As my boys don't eat bread, they get potatoes for lunch everyday as their carb.Today's combo had potato salad with chopped up honey beef #glutenfreesausages I baked the sausages in the oven and mixed the potatoes in the sausage fat for extra flavour. Sliced up onion and red cabbage and mixed it all about!! Baked sweet potato and tomato and that's it for them. They don't get any snacks and don't eat breakfast but this is a very nutrient dense meal that sustains them till dinner. They are super active teenagers and don't lack energy. I think one of the biggest problems in the way we eat and the reason we have so much chronic disease and metabolic problems is that we just eat too much and too often. Just like our minds and brains get exhausted from all the technology and over stimulation, our bodies get exhausted from constant snacking and constant snack foods that are either high in sugar or our bodies don't even recognise as food. Our metabolic process and detoxification pathways are in overdrive. Eventually they give in. Defrosting ALL the protein to cook up for the next few days. There's an array of different meat sources and different levels of quality of meat here. Yes, It is ideal to have meat from sources that are grass-fed, pasture raised, and without the added hormones and grains. This actually allows the meat to provide a different fatty acid ratio that has higher amounts of omega-3s and conjugated linoleic acid, which is one of the few essential fatty acids needed by the body. BUT I also have turkey that is not as "perfect" in quality as I'd like. It does say it's "fresh and natural", but being from Foster Farms and since the term "natural" isn't actually regulated I'm not sure what that truly means. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to eat it. We can't always eat from perfect sources, due to either availability, convenience or money and that's completely ok!
