This guy right here: ๐Ÿง”๐Ÿป The Goofy to my over Serious ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜‘ The Rock to my Ocean ๐ŸŒŠ The Sun to my Moon ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒ› Gets the spotlight this Sunday because I am SO proud of him!!! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ This guy has lost 25lbs since the middle of June!!! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„ Brandon has always been a work out/exercise fanatic. He is a personal trainer- he loves to lift, and lift HEAVY! ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ But like SO many of us- his biggest hold back was in the KITCHEN!! ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ He was addicted to eating out ๐Ÿ”๐ŸŸ๐Ÿฅค Addicted to sweets ๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿช And NEVER measured out what a real portion should be ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ After I finished my first program and was getting ready to start the next, I convinced him to let me do HIS meal plan, and completely take over nutrition for BOTH of us! Surprisingly- he agreed.๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰ He still has his struggles- SO DO I!! We still eat fast food occasionally (Speedway for breakfast today, anyone? ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ) We still take the kids for Ice Cream ๐Ÿฆ on the weekends and get some ourselves BUT, 80-90% of the time we eat clean, healthy meals that we actually look forward to eating!!! High and tight pineapple ponytails, pink t-shirts and safari booty shorts make for really good workouts...just saying๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป. โ–ถ๏ธToday was push-day with no cardio and even though Iโ€™m not dieting as of now(not dieting meaning Iโ€™m eating maintenance or slightly above) Iโ€m still hungry AF today! When that happens I try to allow myself a little more food than normal after I train in the form of extra carbs๐Ÿ˜. โ–ถ๏ธWhy do I do this? 1) when you train hard your body needs carbs so they will be better utilized when eaten. 2) If I eat a little extra now directly after my workout, it keeps me from binging later. I call this planned, intuitive eating. My Post workout refuel meal looks a lil something like this...5min prep time and only 297 cals, 15g fats, 18.5g carbs and 18g protein Pan fry 1/2c left over jasmine rice in pam spray with cajun seasoning set aside Pan fry 3 eggs over medium in pam spray and serve over rice...devour ๐Ÿ˜‹..I have been fasting since 6p last night so this meal didn't stand a chance! Quick 20min clean kid approved meal: *Chinese Broccoli and beef over jasmin rice* Blanch gai lan and set aside while sauteeing the lean thin slices beef in garlic and 3tbs of stir fry sauce. Day 2 of the โ€˜walk/bike to/from schoolโ€™ plan. Itโ€™s really awesome to get out in the world first thing in the morning. The air is fresh, the sun is warming the earth, the people you meet are friendly....nice way to get the blood pumping. Normally I get up, get my water organized, make coffee-then workout. This year due to my commitment to get my son moving more I will be treating these brisk walks as a quick warmup to my training. Upon returning, I will be getting it in!!! Super excited for this plan. I feel like BRUNCH is my favourite meal of the day. Yes, I said brunch, as I NEVER wake โ˜€๏ธ early enough to have BREAKFAST lol, unless itโ€™s a weekday then a nutrient dense morning shake is where Iโ€™m at. I used to eat loaded, cheesy๐Ÿง€ & bacon๐Ÿฅ“ sandwiches ๐Ÿฅ. Yep, pretty much everything that was fat and carb alone, and excessive amounts of it. What can I say ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ I LOVE FOOD. Now this is what I want you boss babes to take away from this post. Itโ€™s NOT that I was eating FATS and CARBS..it was the fact that I was eating the WRONG fats & carbs and waaaaaay too much of them. We need HEALTHY fats ๐Ÿฅ‘ & CARBS ๐Ÿš in our diets, and based on our calculated calorie intake for our goals (weight loss, weight gain, maintenance) we need a certain amount of them. Now that I know my daily target intake and visually see how much of each category I should eat, I have GAINED knowledge that has lead me to BETTER eating HABITS. Not DIETING! I HATE the word diet.. as so many ladies have been fooled into these gimmicky and UNHEALTHY โ€œdietโ€ plans just to meet their ideal mirrored image. Hot weather lunch ideas...Tuna Stuffed Pepper Boats! I have a tendency to eat a lot of salads when itโ€™s hot out and itโ€™s been nothing but hot here in Southern California for the past few weeks. Wow. When I first started I COULD NOT do a burpee to save my life, honestly-wasnโ€™t sure I would ever pull them off. They donโ€™t get easier, I got stronger by showing up EVERYDAY! At first I modified the entire set. Then I started slowly adding one, two, ...five... now Iโ€™m up to the full set whenever they pop up in my routine. They sure do make me drip in sweat tho. Eat clean, get lean๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป. What does a well stocked fridge with lots of healthy foods look like? Come over and Iโ€™ll show you๐Ÿ˜‰. Even though Iโ€™m reverse dieting right now (eating in a caloric surplus in the form of more carbs and protein) doesnโ€™t mean Iโ€™m stuffing my face with junk everyday and neither should you if health, performance, adding muscle or being leaner are your goal. Instead I eat a wide variety of healthy fats, carbs and protein to keep my energy up, body functioning optimally and help with recovering from my workouts. Iโ€™m not going to lie and say I never indulge because I most certainly do but itโ€™s not an everyday occurrence, itโ€™s an occasional one. Are you over complicating making healthier food choices? Itโ€™s actually quite simple to make a meal you enjoy more healthy and with less calories. Letโ€™s use my taco lunch as an example. Instead of using fatty ground beef or pork, I chose a leaner ground turkey. Instead of using flour tortillas, I used corn. Instead of frying my tortillas, I ate them soft. Instead of smothering my taco in cheese and sour cream and guacamole, I chose one. Then I added a little extra veggie action in the form of shredded cabbage and fresh pico and mixed it in with my meat. Thatโ€™s it! It can actually be that simple. And if you eat an appropriate portion size, youโ€™ll be doing that much better๐Ÿ˜Š. Since adjusting my nutrition, things that I chalked up to aging and menopause have definitely changed! I have more energy which has made me want to get active again, my mental fog has lifted, the โ€œcrashโ€ Iโ€™d get around 2pm everyday no longer occurs, the constant fatigue I was experiencing has disappeared and among many other things, my hair thickened, nails strengthened, my skin feels and looks better, I average 7.5hrs of good sleep a night and I never get tired of everyone asking me if I can share with them what Iโ€™m doing. ๐Ÿ˜Š It hasnโ€™t been long since Iโ€™ve committed to getting fit and healthy for my 50th birthday. I NEVER thought I would share any pictures that document my physical transformation, but I decided that not sharing would be selfish.
