If we allow ourselves to be led or consumed by negative thoughts what, then, will become of the life we lead? If we use negative self-talk how, then, will this affect our ability to flourish in life? “I’m not clever enough,” or, “I am not pretty enough.” “I am not brave enough,” or, “I am not competent enough.” “I am not good enough,” or, “I am not likeable enough.” “I will fail,” or, “I will never amount to anything.” “It’s no use,” or, “I can’t do it.” Any of these suggestions ever resonated with you at some point in your life??? Lovely ones, it is SO SUPER IMPORTANT to speak life and love over yourselves. YOU ARE UNIQUE. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. YOU WERE BORN TO DO GREAT THINGS! YOU ARE STRONG. Quick 15 min prep of Beef stir fry...beef, veggies, pam spray and jasmine rice. 1. Thin lean cut of meat marinated for 2 hrs in soy sauce, cajun seasoning, garlic and sriracha. Cook with pam spray on med/high heat for 3min set aside. 2. Whatever veggies you have on hand (broccoli, string beans, bean sprouts, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots and shredded carrots. Add to pan with pam spray on med heat and season to taste ...cook for 5min until warm. Set aside. 3. Left over jasmine rice...heat and serve in a bowl. My portion was 1/2c rice, 1c veggies (have as much as you like) and 3oz beef...in that order. Finding a fitness program that works for you is key! Maybe you really cannot stand running, or it’s the best stress reliever on the planet for you. Maybe yoga is your thing or it is way too boring for you. Maybe strength training lights your fire or it puts out your flame. Maybe spinning about kills you or it’s beyond exciting and the thrill drives your soul. 🏃🏼‍♀️🧘🏼‍♀️🏋🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️ Chances are, if your workout sucks you won’t do it and you won’t get the results you are truly after. It needs to feel good. It needs to draw you back for more!! 😁 Once you find something that is fun & excites you, your chances of sticking with your program are greater and that’s when results happen. Tips to increase your intake: • Buy bigger cups/glasses to have with each main meal. • Get a water bottle or personalised shaker to remind you to get more fluids in. • Set goals/reminders/alerts to get specific amounts in until it's becomes habit. Possibly my best rice and veggie combo yet! I think the tricks are these: First, cook rice in chicken broth/stock seasoned with garlic powder, pepper, and Mrs. Dash table blend. I add the seasonings into the broth as it begins to boil and before closing up the lid and setting on simmer. Also, use quality wild rice! This is Lundberg. Second, season veggies with ginger! And allow for a slow cook in the skillet over medium-low heat. BODY COMPOSITION• ‘Used to describe the percentage of fat, bone, muscle, and water in the body... Anxiety and depression sucks! Being overweight is hard! Being chronically exhausted is well....exhausting! Not looking and feeling the way you want in your clothes is draining. You seek help. They will try to put a bandage 🤕 on your ‘symptoms’ by trying to shove pills 💊 down your throat rather than tell you that you need proper nutrition and a regular fitness routine. Get sleep. Drink your water. Practice mindfulness. Mediate. 🤔 That was me. Seriously overweight...ok obese, low on iron and ‘life threatening’ low Vit D levels, pre-diabetic...yeah-loads of crap. Riddled with anxiety and depression, zero confidence and self esteem was a big fat negative. Zero energy. I was desperate. So I sought ‘help’- I was prescribed Vit d supps (that was needed....) and anti-depressants. But I knew deep down there was a better way. I took my life in my own hands, search and found a cure. I started exercising and eating better - over time lost 65lbs and imagine that 🤔 the other stuff went away right along with it. You can fix this. I can help you. It’s possible. Meet January’s featured athlete Keila M! Keila came back to seaside one year ago when her cardio centric workout routine was not yielding the results she wanted. She recently started counting her macros with our guidance. She is eating 600 more balanced calories a day, pushing heavier weights and the results are outstanding. After a month and a half she has gone from 125lbs to 128 lbs and has totally morphed her body into lean muscle. Are you ready for a change? Once you are ready, you will. I was ready. I was so fed up with being overweight and exhausted and the crappy stuff that is associated with that. Lack of energy. Brain fog. Achy body. Crabby. Anxious and depressed. Low self esteem. What am I missing? I decided it was time to fix it. I committed. I did it. I am STILL doing it. I have changed physically, but more so mentally. You can see the change in my smile and eyes. I’m much brighter. ☀️ In the first photo I was down approximately 20-25 lbs already, second photo I’m down 65! 📷 I remember taking that picture that day, even though I was seeing progress I still wasn’t comfortable and I grabbed that jacket to ‘cover up’ a little more. To ‘hide’ my problem area. I used to always wrap a jacket around my waist or throw a hoodie on. 🧥 I no longer hide. I feel good. I’m in the best shape of my life. ✌️ Not only has my physical being transformed, my overall health and mentally has also transformed. Guess how many prescriptions and supplements I needed prior to my surgery?? ZERO!!! Now - I require a ton of supplements because post gastric bypass my body cannot absorb all the vitamins from the foods that a normal body can soooo... I get them through supplements. I was a HEALTHY morbidly obese person 🤷‍♀️ I had lost and gained over 100 lbs several times trying fad diets and different types of exercise! I had never tried actually changing my nutrition to a healthy lifestyle change! Oh and finding exercise I loved 💕 and could stick with! Those things make all the difference in the world!! Gastric bypass changed my life forever. 😏 I have multiple medical issues! Severe reflux, IBS, hypoglycemia, lactose intolerant, migraines, a couple auto immune disorders, joint pain, not to mention I did not get all the weight off. I lost weight - gained weight - lost - gained. It was a struggle! Until I learned how to eat Whole Foods! When I stopped eating processed foods and started eating real food. When I stopped counting calories and obsessing over my weight - I got it!! Now a days - I take medications for my MS, migraines, reflux, and menopause. This transition into a fit lifestyle has thought me so much. Patience being one of them. I had none, I was highly impatient and was easily irritated over everything. When I set out on this journey it was to literally lose weight and ‘have a flat belly...’ that was my focus. I couldn’t stand my big pregnancy looking belly. I am STILL working on this area (I don’t believe you can ‘spot train’ body parts and apparently this is just the last to go...) I now know, it’s overall body strength and consistency. You have to show up and work hard EVERY DAY towards your goals. 🌟 📝-This used to be a very hard move for me. I could NOT pull myself up a couple years ago, I had to use my elbows to ‘assist’ me. I still see I have a bit more to go to really nail this move, but I’m 100% ok with that. I was thrilled with this progress right here. This is a lifetime commitment and I’m in it for the long game. What a difference 2 years can make! My best guess is a 25lb weight difference here - but it is so so much more than just the pounds lost. So much more.... I see the girl on the left, even though she is smiling I know deep down she’s still struggling with herself. Don’t get me wrong, she was finding her happy ... she was making changes and feeling better, but not truly H A P P Y, just yet anyway, but she kept going.... The girl on the right (same chic, yet totally not the ‘same chic’) is genuinely HAPPY! Can I say that again? She is 🗣 H A P P Y!!! She understands now to control her anxiety, moods, depression and energy levels, she needs to take care of herself! She has come to 💗 fitness and is learning more and more about proper nutrition everyday ~ she seriously couldn’t be happier. Don’t get her twisted though- she is still human and ‘has days’. TGIF🎉 Look, ladies ... a great tool to increase your energy and to improve your moods is regular exercise. Seriously. For years I struggled with chronic fatigue and misery from being obese, immobile and a pretty unhealthy diet. My mind was a mess. Always anxious and teetering on the depression wave lengths. Kohlrabi, anyone?! I came across this veggie at the bulk store and knew very little about it. My sister's @bethanyjoyedwardson family run a very successful farm and CSA in Rockford @plainsongfarm and I'm pretty sure she is the only person I've ever heard mention this name. When I saw it I paused, knowing it was somehow familiar, but still feeling very uncomfortable with the idea of cooking with this foreign, alien spaceship looking food. 👽🛸 So, I looked it up and found a few ways to fix it, opting for roasting, and I dare say it was a hit! Flavorful, crunchy, juicy, and a great compliment to the other veggies we eat regularly, kohlrabi is now part of my regular grocery list. Have you tried it? Only 9 days left of this 80 day journey. I was scheduled to finish at the end of 2018, but a few days off here and there and I'm still at it.🙈 The beautiful thing? I enjoyed the holidays! I ate great food, indulged in sweets, stayed up late, traveled, and was present in every moment. And my waistline and energy levels stayed right on point. 👌🏼 How? I drank all the water, had my superfood shake and drank hot switchel at night, still got in those veggies, and trained when I could. Was my schedule perfect? My eating pristine? My routine on point? Not at all. Moderation in eating and consistency in training are key elements to living life to the fullest AND enjoying the journey for a lifetime! My goal now? First day back at work today and I was feeling quite tired by the time I got my son to bed tonight. Although I was tired I was feeling really motivated to do some of my nutrition mentor course but unfortunately my internet decided it was going to slow right down and I wasn't even able to watch one video. I am feeling a little bit annoyed but I that is the joys of island living! 🙄😂 . I guess my course will have to wait until another day when hopefully the internet will work better! 🤞🏻 . I am now going to go and rewrite one of my goals from yesterday. After having a discussion with my big sister @karenfender_fitness, we decided that instead of getting too fixated on the scales and the number it says, I am going to concentrate on more NSVs and think about building lean muscle. . I am going to forget about the number of pounds to lose and concentrate on my clothes fitting better, dropping 2 dress sizes and other NSVs like inches lost. I was mainly concentrating on them before so I am really happy to continue doing that!
