This post may be good or bad, depending on who is reading this and their views and beliefs. But I feel like this is something I should share! I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Or in other words, I am a Mormon. Some of you may have good experiences with the LDS faith. Some of you may have bad experiences. And some of you may have no experience or know nothing at all about what I’m talking about! Regardless of what you know or have witnessed, I hope you can see me as a good “experience” and a good example of what my faith and religion represents! This faith and religion of mine recognizes Jesus Christ as the Son of God and The Savior of the World. And this is the main and most fundamental truth that we share with others. I know that Christ Lives. I know that our Father in Heaven sent Christ to this earth to die for each and every one of us. My testimony is founded on those truths. My strength comes from my Father in Heaven and Savior. For me, Sunday’s are more then a day that I rest from working on my health and functionality. Rather, it’s a day for me to recognize the things that matter the most to me: My God and Savior, My beautiful (growing) family, and improving my spiritually. For those of you who believe in God and Jesus Christ, I would give you this advice: Every morning before you work out, get on your knees and give thanks to our Heavenly Father for the blessing it is to have a functioning body, as well as any other blessings you have experienced! It has made a difference in my life, so I hope you can see the difference it makes in yours! Additionally, I would recommend dedicating part of your Sunday’s to recognizing our Savior whether it be through reading the Bible or scriptures, going to church, praying, etc... These things have brought me happiness and fulfillment! We have all been blessed with so much! Today was a huge success for Wolff Athletics! First, a huge thank you to Lehigh Valley Barbell for putting on a fantastic competition and for all the volunteers! Sophia was first up and went 6 for 6! She also successfully weighed into the 53kg/116lbs class! Sophia’s best lifts were 50kg/110lbs in the snatch and 65kg/143lbs in the clean and jerk. This total of 115kg was 30kg OVER the qualifying total for youth nationals! And also won first place today! Justin went 5 for 6 missing his last snatch. And successfully weighed into the weight class I didn’t want him to be in 😂, but still acceptable at 66kg/145lbs bodyweight (to be in the 69kg class.) Justin snatched 76kg/167lbs and clean and jerked 100kg/220lbs. This was also 30kg over the qualifying totals for youth nationals and first place. Just in case you thought bodybuilding movements weren't involved in Olympic lifting🙏🏾🙏🏾💪🏾💪🏾 #Repost @mastrength with @get_repost ・・・ #Bodybuilding movements are used for developing #strength in a particular area but they are also used for maintaining muscular function and balance. One movement we use heavily is the explosive DB row as demonstrated by world champion Jiang Huihua (48kg) during the #MaStrength summer camp in #China. In #chineseweightlifting, explosive DB rows are performed to incorporate a large amount of scapular retraction and protraction along with upper body rotation. If an athlete keeps their shoulders retracted in their rows then most of the movement comes from the arm and shoulder joint which makes it very easy for the shoulder to glide forward anteriorly. Additionally, keeping the shoulders retracted limits the range of motion and prevents muscles such as the serratus anterior from receiving training. Over the long term these effects will make it difficult for the scapula to rotate upward and lift the arm overhead and can result in shoulder pain. So when you choose your bodybuilding movements make sure to pay attention to the #strengthtraining aspects along with balance and function to stay strong and healthy. Great weekend ! Was able to hit a decent total and qualified for The World Masters Oly Championship. Had to cut 3 # in one day that was not fun especially it was St Patrick’s Day and I’m Irish. Went over 24 hours of no eating or drinking anything. Not fun but a huge bucket list item checked off. I will be going to Barcelona in August. Yesterdays English schools went great! Failed my first clean and jerk (even though it was only 90% - 39kg and i'd just successfully tried the lift in the back). But i got a Pb of 29kg snatch and 43kg jerk💪🏻 Think I just psyched myself out! I need to brag on my client @banannie173 for a minute! Annie started Olympic weightlifting in the beginning of January and she has made AMAZING progress and has worked so hard to make sure she is always chasing stellar technique. 🏋🏻‍♀️ • The thing about snatch is that it’s SO MUCH ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE ALLOWING YOURSELF TO BELIEVE IN YOUR HEAD! During our session we would get to this weight and all of a sudden the weight wouldn’t even make it over her head. This was her third (and last) attempt at this weight before we would strip it back and I sent her on a short walk and to her to get out of her head and just come up to the bar and snatch it. No overthinking. AND SHE DID!! And she made it look so easy! • So learn from Annie this week! You can do more than you know as long as you are having the right conversation in your head! 🤯 Whether it’s in the gym of any other area of your life. Want big arms? Try these. Slow tempo pull-ups. If you are a natural lifter(no juice) and want to gain size it’s essential to incorporate heavy tempo work. While bicep curls and tricep extensions can be effective in the process of developing a serious set of guns, the majority of your time should be spent on the heavier compound movements. The reason being is they stress the muscle more and force the individual to recruit more muscle fibres from the surrounding joints as well. This then increases the production of your bodies anabolic hormones such as testosterone and growth hormone. Slowing the movement down then stresses your muscles to a greater degree and creates a need for the bodies growth response to repair the damage done during your lifting sessions. In short- 1. More time under tension = greater demand from the muscle = muscle growth 2. These are the shots no weight lifter ever posts. Some days you’re on fire, some days you’re not. When I comes to shooting for a PR, your headspace is critical. If you’re nervous or don’t believe you have it, it probably won’t come. That was me today. It’s so discouraging to know you have the weight but you’re so in your head that you can’t execute it. It’s important to stay positive when that happens and take whatever weight you end with with a grain of salt. It did end up hitting a PR, and holy shit was it ugly. But I’ll take it. Honestly I blame Saint Patricks day ☠️🤷🏼‍♀️

A year ago @_sarahsquats came to me with some big goals in mind. She wanted to snatch 70kg, clean & jerk 90kg, and qualify for Universities. I told her it would be hard work and that I would be tough on her at times. Yesterday she hit two of those three goals snatching 70kg and clean & jerking 86kg to hit the University total. I could not be more proud of how much work she has put in to get there. She deserves all the praise today for being so diligent and determined to hit her goals!
