A tale of two worlds up in the Whites of New Hampshire right now. Perhaps one of the most amazing views on this planet. This is New Zealand's tallest mountain (and highest point), Aoraki also known as Mount Cook. This region is a particular favorite among New Zealanders and tourists alike, and it's not hard to see why. Unfortunately, this breathtakingly beautiful place is under threat. The government has stood by while portions of the Mackenzie Basin (which is publically owned land maintained by taxpayers) are being converted for dairy farming. Dairy conversion often requires burning native vegetation, spraying pesticides, extensive drilling, heavy fertilization, and destroying much natural habitat that can't be found elsewhere. Aside from being an eyesore, this has far-reaching effects on the biodiversity of the area, will disrupt the water and nitrogen cycles, may spread antibiotic resistance, and potentially displace or wipe out 23 threatened animal and plants species. This is not an issue for New Zealanders only. To grow food for the 5,000鈥15,000 cows, slightly little more 15 million gallons (57 million liters) of glacial water is required. The waste of the cows will likely introduce major shifts in soil and water nutrient content, both locally and throughout the park. The soil is not ideal for growing artificial grasses, and because it is thin, it requires significant amounts of fertilizer each year. This also has an effect on the marine life in the area and can lead to deadly algal blooms. Of course, there are even more effects that we cannot fit in this caption. However, the bottom line is that natural land that has developed over eons into a unique biodiverse habitat and has been protected and preserved with taxpayer money is being converted into something disastrous for the sake of maximizing private corporate profits. This is the state of the world we live in today, but perhaps with enough people who care to take a stand, this will one day change for the better. #PlacesWorthProtecting Featured | @trentblomfield Location | Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, Mackenzie Region, South Island, New Zealand #WWTTY | Where Will TOTEM Take You? ____________________ #TOTEMMade #TheMountainsAreCalling #NewZealand at Aoraki / Mount Cook

Hey friends, Autumn Schrock also known as @autpops back again for my last day taking over the @adoramapix account! Currently, I鈥檓 based in Seattle, Washington where I specialize in fine art landscape photography and yoga photography. My best advice when it comes to photography is to always push yourself! Curiosity is a beautiful thing! Never forget to venture outside of your comfort zone, you might be surprised what you find. 鈽猴笍 . Shooting in new locations is so invigorating. The best part about it for me is knowing that I鈥檓 experiencing something new. It鈥檚 not just about the camera or the scenery; to me, it鈥檚 about the experience. Walking someplace I鈥檝e never walked, seeing things I鈥檝e never seen before鈥攊t inspires creativity. . Watching aurora dance is something that everyone needs to experience at least once. There is absolutely nothing like it and the sheer magic of it is breathtaking. Hey friends, Autumn Schrock also known as @autpops and back again taking over the @adoramapix account! Currently, I鈥檓 based in Seattle, Washington where I specialize in fine art landscape photography and yoga photography. Being a photographer is such a special part of my life and I love learning and trying new things. Never forget to venture outside of your comfort zone, I promise you won鈥檛 regret it. . I am always looking for new things to learn in order to push my career a step further. Currently, I鈥檓 learning more about underwater photography. It鈥檚 something that I鈥檝e wanted to do for years, but for some reason haven鈥檛 pursued. The water is where my heart lies, and I cannot wait to learn as much as possible about shooting in a new environment. . Sunrise and sunset often present the most dynamic lighting. Heritage Conservancy holds a facade easement on the house and a conservation easement on the 2.6 acres of land surrounding it, which includes a portion of the Paunacussing Creek, natural #wetlands, a man-made pond, and even a springhouse.
