💥Before & After💥 I’ve been asked and told i should do more before and afters so I figured I would do one!! The before was not at my biggest but close to it. I came up being very active as a kid with sports and skateboarding. Eventually as I grew up I got lazy and got into eating a lot of junk food. I then ended up making the decision to get it together and start working out. I had the vision of wanting to be able to perform and be explosive I didn’t really worry to much of how I would look more so improve my performance. I have a long way to go and don’t see myself stopping to constantly improve myself. I know not to be hard on myself during this and that these things take time and determination. I appreciate all the support from everyone 💪💪 at Arizona

Long time no box jump. Finally got this 45'' jump (115cm) after a few attempts. A lot actually 😅 . Plyometric training is great way to build explosive power. Plyometrics activate type II muscle fibers (fast-twitch muscles) in a quick response and harnests the elastic properties to generate powerful and explosive movements. . @katehall2043 season is near! 2:1 eccentric to iso kickstand squat with hexbar in high angle. That’s a mouth full. Basically lifting with both legs then shifting load to one leg and slowly eccentrically loading it to your chosen angle , holding them releasing weight. After a few reps we then bring the muscle through a stiff legged hopping drill to get a nice PAP. During low step hops make sure to keep knee angle close to straight and concentrate on fast,rigid,stable hops that move the hips high during the box hops. It’s Friday Friday gotta get down on... this leg day!! (Honestly I was debating about quoting that haha). Yesterday was my rest day which means I had to kill it with legs today😝🤤 My workout plan for the next couple of weeks will consist of MON-Plyos, TUES-Arms & HIIT, WED-Legz, THURS-Rest/Active Recovery, FRI- Full body, SAT-HIIT, SUN-Rest. & yes, I didn’t do full body today, I wanted to try different exercises out! Real talk—> this semester is going to my hardest semester yet so I’m going to try to keep it real with y’all about my progress (nutrition/workouts/etc). I’ve been really consistent with my eating as of this week (I love getting back on track). I meal prep everything so I don’t have to struggle to find something to eat last minute (usually never ends up healthy or good). Even if I do get off, I’m less hard on myself b/c I’m starting to live by the 80/20 rule daily! It’s making my fitness journey so much more enjoyable and I never have HUGE cravings anymore. So if your feeling a cookie, EAT THAT COOKIE! Single-leg power band lateral jumps/hops. . This is a great exercise that has a few useful purposes. . ☑️Improving athletic performance in sports that require lateral movements/cuts like football, soccer, basketball and hockey/skating. ☑️Strengthening the ligaments and tendons in the knee. The main reason I’ve added into my leg workouts. ☑️ Makes a great finisher on leg day. It will definitely have your glutes and quads on🔥. . Besides adding resistance to the movement, using a power band is better than no band because it really forces you to control the movement, which makes for less impact on the joints. . To perform the exercise tie a power band to an anchor point that’s roughly waist height. . Get the other end of the band around your waist, take a few steps away from the anchor point until you get some good resistance in the band. . Get into an athletic stance ( slight hinge at the hips, knees slightly bent and chest up). . From there you want to plant your inside foot (closest to the anchor point) and power off it into a lateral jump. You’ll land on the opposite foot, while maintaining a slight hinge at the hip and bent knee. This will help absorb the impact. You’ll then hop back to the start while maintaining the same landing technique. . Once you’ve done a rep or two and have a good feel for the movement, begin to get your arms into like you’re ice skating. You’ll notice I got a lot smoother as I went along ( except when my back foot hit Bob the creeper and I almost fell 😑). . Do 3 sets of 12 reps or go for time if your goal is more so conditioning. at Purdy's Wharf Fitness

#plyometricstraining with weighted box jumps from seated position. I have a new plyo box on the way that's soft so just in case I miss I won't injure myself.... bad. So far I've never missed but now that I'm doing more weighted variations its not a bad idea to go ahead and get a soft box.
