Eleven weeks postpartum and finally ended my year long gym hiatus. Felt good to be back. For me the gym is very motivating. ... 3 Weeks Postpartum ✅ In the past three weeks... Had a csection Delivered a sweet baby girl Had a postpartum hemorrhage Received 2 blood blood transfusions A 10 day NICU stay 21 sleepless nights 103 degree fever and mastitis A slower than expected surgery recovery A whole new life as a family of 5 😅 Honestly these past 3 weeks felt like 3 years, but we have survived them and each day gets a little better. Each day I am stronger and can do more and I know in time I will be back to my normal self. I have to remind myself to give ME grace during this postpartum period. All of the things that have been packed into the past 3 weeks have been difficult, and I will keep that in mind and be kind to myself while we all adjust and I heal. ❤️ #postpartum #selflove #3weekspostpartum #baobeimaternity

I’m heavily considering deleting all social media for a bit of a break. I’m normally very open on here about my mental health but where I’m at right now it seems it would be using energy I don’t have. I try to appear as normal as possible but my brain is constantly fighting me on what my perception of normal is. It is exhausting fighting yourself all day, everyday, just to appear like you’re like everyone else. I think some time away would help- let’s see how long I commit I just know I need to change something. Not my usual mom post but I’ll throw another one in there to drown this one out. Just gotta be honest. I’m just a mom struggling with a mental illness.

Four months have passed, and I just don’t know how that can be. Four months ago I was lying on an operating table when they told us we had a daughter. I couldn’t walk for a week, after. Four months ago, she barely opened her eyes, and now she smiles at me on purpose with a crooked grin and her tiny tongue barely sticking out. So, freaking, dazed. She cried a lot. Most nights I was silently wishing the days away so I could stop crying, myself. And now all of a sudden, she’s wearing her big sisters clothes and exiting that newborn stage all on her own as if she just took her drivers license, and now it’s onto the next phase of life. You see, I know how this works. Life doesn’t slow down for you. You blink and they’re starting Kindergarten. People always tell you that. And since she is our last baby, I find myself, still crying. Maybe it’s my hormones. Or, maybe it’s because I’m scared that tomorrow I won’t be able to sniff her forehead and get lost in her sleepy, hungry eyes when she eats because she’s simply, getting older. I’ve been thinking about my wedding day a lot lately, even though it was almost 3 years ago. I married the love of my life. That part was awesome. I had all my family and friends together in one place. That was also awesome. I was 10 months postpartum with my first son and still not 100% comfortable in my after-baby body. I was stressing out about making sure everybody else was happy and taken care of when I should have just focused on me and my new husband. Would I change that day? Not for the world. It was perfect. . Those themes still run true today. Now I am 3 months postpartum with baby number two. As I stay-at-Home-Mom, I often am taking care of others and not having the time or money to take care of myself. . Slowly I am figuring out my way of taking care of myself while also taking care of my kids. 31 Weeks and Welcome to your first runny nose! You, Granma, myself... heck even Dada has been feeling a smidgen under the weather. I got hit first and then you. However a baby with a runny nose? Who knows.... could be teething. I did notice this week that there is a full white line on your gums. That tooth I really do think is on the verge of making its debut. Although I thought the same for you the week before your due date and you came nearly a week after. Now that you are seven months you’ve gotten more spunky. You love dancing. Grabbing for anything you can get those stinky hands on. Which feels like the opposite of the little balled up fists you had four months ago. In general you are very curious and give zero *forks*. Sounds familiar to someone else I know. Lately your sleep has been off but I think it’s a combo of me trying to get your to bed early and teething. You wake up to be held. You don’t want anything to do with a bottle. And you’re clearly exhausted. Poor thing. I try not to complain about the handful of rough nights you’ve given recently because one you are usually an EXCELLENT, expert sleeper. And two.... well I think there is actually something like your tooth, gas, constipation,or that you’re just growing that woke you in the first place. Possibly combination of all that really. I try to not get annoyed about your new clingy status because frankly ... I know it won’t last. Eventually you will want me to put you down and my kisses will be “embarrassing” when you’re older. The squishy face happens in a few instances. You’re grumpy. You’re sniffling a runny nose. You’re mimicking me doing it. That face has me written all over it. Orrrrr you are trying to stop me from wiping your face. But I don’t blame you for any of those. P.S. you can sit unsupported but you still forget. That third photo I was ready to catch you.

If you guys missed my stories yesterday, there have been a lot of changes with this little one! We’re transitioning to 1 nap and he’s only nursing before bed now. When did my little guy become such a big boy?! We’re also working on getting him used to childcare at the gym. That one is still a work in progress 😬 • Ben and I still look at him and say, we can’t believe we have a son! He’s almost 14 months and we still can’t believe he’s ours. Soak in those baby snuggles mamas - it goes by in a blink!

Legs hating me post squats and deadlifts but managed to walk around the zoo a couple miles today. Fed the giraffes plenty of lettuce, saw all the animals, rode the Dino boat ride. Beautiful day for the zoo. ☀️ boys went straight to bed when we got home I’m jealous. Currently waiting up to teach. Good active rest day.

Tonight I started another step of my journey of Self Love. . Working out has always been something I have enjoyed, however it’s been about 3 years since I’ve truly worked out. Two babies later and I’m definitely in need of getting back into it. More energy, more stamina- you name it. I need it to keep up with my boys! . Tonight I started my fitness journey again and I realized when I saw my hat in my car window after I was done how fitting it was that I wore it tonight. Agapé meaning unconditional love or God’s love. It reminded me what was giving me the motivation to get out here and move -to have unconditional love for myself so my kids can grow to have self love for themselves as well. . This was just what I needed, cause guys after 3 years I don’t think I’ve ever been this out of shape. I’m serious when I say this was probably the hardest workout in my life. But I’m motivated and dedicated to get my body healthy both mentally and physically! I’m ready to keep going to keep feeling the pain, because the gain is worth it in the end! . Two proud as punch parents. It’s been just over 4 weeks since my body went through the most challenging and rewarding experience of my life. Recovery isn’t always pretty... there are things you try to mentally prepare for but nothing actually prepares you for the physical and emotional challenges of recovery. I remember the first week we had Abel I would cry at about 8:00pm every night. I would take myself to our room, not really letting anyone know how I was feeling. I’d put Abel in his bed and sit in mine and just bury my face in my hands and cry. Shortly after Robbie would follow knowing full well I was more quiet than usual (he’s amazing at knowing when I’m not quite myself- grateful) . He would ask what’s wrong and it’s common for us as humans to say ‘nothing’ as it is the easiest option and can be hard to show “weakness” but the truth is it shows strength to be open about our feeling and being honest about what’s really going on for us. Before we were blessed with Abel I made a promise to Robbie to always share how I was feeling and be honest with what was really going on. Everything is new... you ask yourself am I gonna be a good enough parent? what if I don’t know what’s wrong? What if I can’t settle him? These questions crossed my mind daily and I found it so hard to get out my my head and take each day as they came but one thing I made a really conscious effort was to share everything with Robbie. I am so grateful that we made this promise and that he constantly checked in on me and not backing down until I became vulnerable with him. I know that my mental health is so much better for this. Postpartum is scary, it’s real and it can quickly spiral. Ladies don’t shut yourself out, don’t act like your ok when you know deep down your not. Share how your feeling ask your man to keep checking in on you. Our husbands and babies need us, healthy, happy and in a good mental space. I know it’s not easy, I know everyone’s journey is different and challenging but please don’t ever shut people out because your worth more than than you know. @rcmbaker thank you for your ongoing love and support I am forever grateful for your heart 🧡

Got Milk? Yessss I do—finally! It took 4 weeks for my milk to really come in...mostly because my iron levels are dangerously low, Willow came early, and I *still cant get my blood pressure regulated. I didn’t give up! ::Insert Stress Away::..... . . . This amazing vacation in a bottle comes in your starter kit. I diffused this a ton during my pumping sessions to calm me and my big emotions. Naturally an anxious person, this oil quickly became a game changer. One whiff of this and within minutes I’m more relaxed (1000% needed with pumping). It smells soooooo amazing! .My journey with breastfeeding/pumping has just begun but I can relax and know the biggest stressor for me is finally coming to a resolve. . . How did you feel immediately postpartum? I was exhausted and slept off the drugs from my C section for most of the day. Here is a breakdown from @mommy.labornurse of what you may be feeling immediately after birthing your baby. Posted @withrepost@mommy.labornurse What do the first 24 hours of postpartum look like?⁣ ⁣ It may look something like this, and then some!⁣ ⁣ 😖 Cramping : Regardless of whether you delivered vaginally or via c-section, your uterus has to start shrinking back down to its pre-pregnancy size, and that can come with a lot of cramps! Breastfeeding can cause painful after birth contractions as well, but they usually resolve in a few minutes after you start! Motrin around the clock helps!⁣ ⁣ 😴 Wiped out : Some women get a SURGE of adrenaline-others are completely wiped out after delivery. Your body goes through a lot to give birth and you might feel like you just ran a marathon!⁣ ⁣ 💪🏻 Muscle Aches : Was this just me? I remember having SUCH sore muscles after I delivered (I delivered vaginally)! It makes sense though-during labor you are moving around, tensing up, and during pushing you see using every ounce of entertainment to get that baby out of you! ⁣ ⁣ 🤱Colostrum : Your milk likely won’t fully come in for a few days if you plan to breastfeed, but watch out for lots of colostrum!⁣ ⁣ 🅱️ Bleeding : Once again, regardless of your delivery method, you’re going to have vaginal bleeding! Even with a c-section, your placenta was detached from the inside of your uterus, and left a big “scab” that need to bleed and heal!⁣ ⁣ 😳 Vaginal Pain/Incisional Pain: Even if you don’t have a tear, you’re likely going to be pretty sore down there for the first bit! Ice packs, and dermoplast helps! Incisional pain is common in the first 24 hours (and beyond) for c-section mamas too!⁣ ⁣ What do YOU think should be added to this list? 🤔⁣ ⁣ *yes my dad DID take all of these pics-I love you dad! 😂*

Long post alert. Sorry. I need to post the honest truth so when I look back I remember the bad days not just the PR days. • • Squats felt like hot steaming garbage today. I was programmed to do 4x4 at 225. My body felt weird and uncoordinated. The movement of squatting felt foreign today. Just one of those day. I definitely had a bad attitude about it, but now that I’ve had time to cool off, I’m proud of hitting 225 for four hideous reps in a row, followed by a few ugly doubles before I let go of my ego and dropped the weight to 195 and 205 for cleaner sets of 4. I’m proud of myself for not just giving up totally. I did more than the sets programmed until I felt like I completed them with somewhat decent form because I care more about my motor pattern long term than feeding my ego today. 225 is a number I was chasing for so long. Today felt terrible but it was still a win. We can’t have only good days—where’s the learning in that?

Truth bomb💣 Yes part of it is the number on the ⚖️ but mostly it is about getting to where I feel best. This is 💯% what fat loss (I prefer that over weight because ultimately I'm concerned about losing excess body fat and not particularly what the scale says. I use my scale as a tool to keep me on track on my journey especially when life can throw a little curve ball) looks like in my life. Lose 5 lbs gain 3 back, lose 2 gain 2, lose 3 gain 2...you get my point. It's not always smiles and enjoying the process but mostly it is. My current goal is to get to my pre-pregnancy numbers and move back towards a more plant focused lifestyle. Here’s to 30 weeks pregnant and still going strong. I’m not going to lie I am tired all the time but I make sure I keep moving even if it is at a slower pace from time to time. I have days when my energy is great and i give it my all and I have days when I just don’t want to workout but I still do and do it at a slower pace. Whatever it is I make sure to listen to my body. - This pregnancy I haven’t done many upper body workouts. I’ve kept those to a minimum for no particular reason. But not doing them had me loss all of my upper body muscles. Today called for 50min, so I did neighborhood loops at dusk, crepe myrtles blooming everywhere. No pace expectations, as I'm just easing back in. Then 10min of core afterward. That will hurt tomorrow after so many months core-free. At 5 wks #postpartum, I will have to wait until K joins A in daycare before I'm able to get some trail miles in, or even just push my "out the door" runs to earlier in the day. #nomeatathlete #veganrunner #motherrunner

Confidence overflowing in all ares of your life!!! Does that resignate with you? . Are a confident lady, mom, friend, daughter, employer, employee etc....on and on? . I NEVER WAS!!! God is really doing a work in my heart regarding community. I feel strongly that He wants us to not only share the gospel but to also love one another. I know I’m so guilty of getting caught up in my own life and never reaching outside of my “bubble”, but He is sweetly whispering that there are people that need to see Christ in me. They literally need to see me be His hands and feet and I’m excited to be more intentional about living this out! First postpartum run in the books!! I’m so thrilled with how well it went. I walked out my door with no expectations and was just excited to have 30 minutes all to myself. I started the C25K app and I did a 30 minute work out. There was a 5 minute warm up and cool down, and then run/ walk intervals of 1/1:30. I covered 2 miles, and felt great!! It almost felt too easy, but I’m going to follow the schedule and trust the process. I’m using this restart as an opportunity to focus on the 5k distance and to have a solid base before I go to other distances. #ToddlerTantrumTuesdays 👶🏽🤯 . . Tell me I’m not alone? 👀 . . These little humans are something else.. how do you handle your toddlers tantrums!? 👉🏼 I choose my battles wisely, just like I do with any relationship! Am I trying to be right and force things because of my ego? Do I “NEED” to be right.. is giving in going to create and feed into bad habits? Unhealthy habits? Is he in danger? These are my checklist in my head thoughts before responding during a “Hulk” tantrum! Usually little man is tired or teething or just trying to express his feelings and he doesn’t know any other way.. so yes I would love for him to eat out of the bowl but guess what, he’s not harming anyone and he’s still eating and eating something healthy so this was one I chose to sit out! And it was less dishes to clean up after.. ☺️😆 . . Share with me what the craziest tantrum your toddler threw this week and what was it over!!! 😬

🏋️‍♀️ #Transformationtuesday . The first picture was taken the day we brought my now 3 yr old son Declan home from the hospital. . The 2nd picture was taken a few weeks ago at our family picnic. . I have lost over 60 lbs since that picture on the left and because of that I have gained confidence, strength, and mental clarity. . I am so happy that I have made myself a priority these last 3 years. . Believe me, it hasn't been easy for me. It isnt easy for anyone. But it's important. So important. Because I am worth it. You are worth it. We are worth it. . I'm starting a 100 workout challenge this coming Monday. Took that extra 20 minutes to myself and enjoyed a date night with my boo a few weeks ago. 🥰💑 . . Self care is so freakin important guys! It’s funny how before children, basic self care was just a given. No one made comments when my hair was done or my face was made up, or if I was wearing anything other than leggings 🤷🏽‍♀️ But ever since I became a mother, I’m lucky if I’m even able to eat a meal uninterrupted. . . Mom life was a regular excuse to myself when I’d look in the mirror and feel less than I used too. But parent or not, you need to take care of yourself, mind and body! In this picture, despite the fact that I had gotten ready this particular day, I still wasn’t feeling 100%. No matter how much I made myself up, deep down I knew that I’d been selling myself short. . . My entire life I have treated my body like sh**! It’s the one thing I’ve always neglected. Ive eaten endless junk, made every excuse to never make it to the gym, or do anything to prioritize my health. With my first pregnancy I gained 75 lbs!! I ate what I wanted, whenever I wanted and for once it was catching up. It took nearly 3 years (of more unhealthy eating habits) to lose that weight, so with this last pregnancy I was terrified of going down the same path. . . After just barely missing a gestational diabetes diagnosis and now dealing with cholecystitis, gallstones and gastritis, I decided I needed to get serious about my health. I’d been half assing it, eating just as much sugary junk as I was healthy options.. So I have finally committed to cutting junk out of my diet (started with soda which was HUGE for me), I’ve started drinking nutrient dense shakes to replace my snack cravings, and have been working out from home daily for almost 2 weeks now! . . *cont’d in comments*

Reflecting on everything right now.
