If yes, then you are missing out on developing drop speed because you rely on moving laterally rather than vertically. Additionally, you are catching in a weaker position than your strongest ( #squat) position which can put you at risk for injury. . If you want to catch faster and more safely, then tag a friend who catches like a #starfish⭐ and try incorporating #powercleans without split. To perform this movement correctly, keep in mind the following points: . 1️⃣ Maintain the same stance as your start position (instead of your catch or squat position) throughout the movement because you want to isolate and train vertical movement. . 2️⃣ Stay in the same location during the catch. This will help control for changes in position or balance that force you to slide forward or backwards which can delay your ability to drop down vertically. . 3️⃣ Keep the ball of the foot in contact with ground as you extend. This will help you avoid jumping off the ground which can delay your ability to exert downward force and lead you to compensate by catching wide. . 4️⃣ Bring the heel down actively after reaching full extension. This will strengthen your ability to drop down quickly and put you in control of the movement. . 🅱️ Because the start position stance  is narrower than the catch for most athletes, you only need to catch in a #quartersquat, otherwise it's possible to round the back at deeper positions. Pausing in the catch can help you check if you've landed correctly. . These key points will train you to improve the coordination and rhythm of your footwork so that you can change direction vertically. This movement is part of the learning progression used in #mastrength seminars. It’s awful. - I was in the middle of my chin-ups (for the 2nd time) for my 5th round when my timer went off. - Make sure you do chin-ups, not pull-ups. Ooooooooooh we’re halfway there! (Ooh oh living on a prayer....) Hard to believe kid-free week is halfway over already, but it’s starting to feel a little too quiet around these parts. Hank was feeling a little homesick today so I got to talk to him on the phone on my way to the gym. He didn’t cry but he did tell me he loves me and misses me (and Charley). I sure do hope he never loses that great big heart of his. . Today we did power cleans, which I didn’t have a record of since February. In the kitchen working on that 315 power clean. This years crossfit open Workout the 225 power cleans were a struggle for me, i was able to get maybe 5 or 6 up on the 2nd attempt... After training and staying motivated the last 3 or 4 months I've been cranking 225 out with no issue.. I'm training and pushing twice as more for that 315!! Band training is an advanced technique often to increase strength, neural drive, and rate of force development for more advanced strength athletes/lifters. One method of of band training is the reverse band training, which can be applied to movements like deadlifts, squats, and presses. Here I decided to use the reverse band technique for the power clean. One of the biggest benefits of performing reverse band Cleans is that it allows lifters to supra-maximally load the Barbell. In doing so, you allow a lifter to place more weight on the bar and move throughout the range of motion with heavier loads that they typically would without band assistance. Increased neural drive, muscle activation (due form large overloads of the movement), and increased training stress, when done correctly (and not overused) can be a great way to stimulate neurological adaptations in response to maximal loads. Nearly every one of us has stepped up to or under a heavy squat, snatch, deadlift, or clean and felt either (1) like a beast, surprised at how “light” it feels on our back or overhead, or (2) the complete opposite, feeling every single ounce of the weight slowly crushing you. When dealing with heavy loads (above 90% RM) the nervous system and mental state (confidence) can determine the success of the lift even before you attempt to lift it. Reverse technique can be used to amplify the benefits of the clean in that it will allow a lifter to use near max loads with assist (the bands assist the lifter as the are stretched, which occurs the most at the deepest positions in the start position or squat) and become more confident stepping under heavy movements. #weightlifting #weighttraining #bandtraining #perfomancetraining #neurotraining #powerlifting #crossfit #loscampeones #fitness #powercleans #educate #liftheavy #beastmode

My legs are sore 😩 15 second static hold with 72lb #frontsquat 3 reps #deadlift at 122lbs and then 1 rep at 132lbs finally a #statichold below the knee at 72lbs. My legs feel like jello. Worked on Cleans today, worked up to a double at 195lbs and a single of 215lbs. dropped it back down to the 165lb range and did a bunch of sets of three reps. Overall fairly happy with how it went today, lots to improve on these lifts but they are getting better. #strength #power #crossfit #dedication #fitness #olympicweightlifting #cleans #powercleans #squatclean #reebok #improvement
