I wanted to lift tonight since I haven’t lifted since Sunday, but we’re getting 50mph winds and flooding so I’ll just post about lifting instead. On Sunday @kumaweightlifting yelled at me for not eating enough. I’m still losing weight and had been feeling fine...until this day. I had to lower the weight from the prescribed weight but I got the hang of waiting a split second when I starting from the knee so I’m not pulling too early. This was also the first time I’ve worn this shirt since I got self conscious about my weight gain. Since my mass has been reduced ( #foreversmall) the shirt is fitting a lot better.

I promised myself this year I would stop cheating myself and try to hit Rx on workouts. Monday’s Rx was 80 lbs sandbag and I did 60 💁🏼‍♀️. Today’s Rx was 65 lbs deadlift/hang cleans/lunges. I did the deadlifts and hang cleans, but had to go unweighted on the lunges 💁🏼‍♀️ I’m not mad though, because it’s a lot more effort than I would’ve given before. 165 X 8 : The #Dumbellswing is the best exercise for #Grappling. "There are many exercises that are great for grappling but there is one exercise that I believe has been left to the way side for more current strength trends. I'm not talking about Sled work, or any #deadlift variation, #powercleans or #ropeclimbing.  All of those are fantastic exercises that I believe have great carry over to your prowess on the mat. The exercise I'm talking about is The Dumbbell Swing.  Notice I didn't say #Kettlebell Swing. There is a difference besides the obvious choice in the particular bell being used. The Kettlebell Swing has become very popular these past years when the #RKC and #StrongFirst became prominent. This version of the swing is a great exercise and used in many #training methods today. The Dumbbell Swing varies in the execution of the exercise.  According to my pal @IronTamer DaveWhitley the kettlebell swing is brought up to about waist height. The Dumbbell Swing is performed by swinging the bell up overhead. This is done by exploding with your legs and snapping the hips forward as you arch slightly backwards thus driving the weight up overhead. This leg drive, forward hip thrust and slight arch in the back I feel helped me tremendously with my throws during #competition. Technique plays a huge factor in getting the mechanics down on this great full body exercise. If you train with a light weight you will find that you start to use the shoulders too much like that of a dumbbell front raise. This is not what we want.  The weight must be heavy enough that it forces you to use your legs and hips to get the weight moving. You will notice that when I pick up the bell I start swinging it half way up to get the proper motion. I typically do this 3-5 times before I start the full overhead motion. The Dumbbell Swing is a great overall full body strength exercise and conditioner. The exercise targets the legs, glutes, lower back, lats, traps, rear delts and shoulders. My Hero Weighted WOD a Week for this week is Hotshots 19. This seems to be quite a well known workout and I was looking forward to it because I love power cleans. Funnily enough it was the power cleans that did me in! The video shows the first and last three reps of each movement. My scale with a 7kg Dynamic Shield weighted vest was: 6 rounds for time of * 30 squats * 19 Power cleans at 25 kgs * 7 ring rows * Run 400 meters On June 30, 2013, 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots firefighting team tragically lost their lives while fighting a fire in Yarnell, Arizona.  Hotshots 19 honors the memory of these 19 heroes

Today was all about going to the gym and just moving. Mentally, today was not a good one and I contemplated going in and beating the shit out of myself. I usually enjoy EMOMs cause if you plan it right you can get sufficient rest time between sets. Only problem is when your coach hits you with a heavy load and you feel like your legs are going to give out halfway through the WOD 🤨 This, I think, is my third minute of a 10min EMOM of 5 power cleans at 60kgs. It got ugly pretty quickly - I was just muscling it up by the 6th minute 🤷🏽‍♂️. Thanks @sagar_patil752 for helping me with my pacing. The screenshot series on the left was exactly 2 years with a 130 kg / 286 lb power clean at 50 years old. The series on the right was exactly 1 year ago with a 115 kg / 253 lb power clean at age 51. Two years ago I was at my lifetime heaviest and my strength and power levels were very good for me (I had recently front squatted 193 kg / 425 lb and back squatted 223 kg / 491 lb). Last year I was solidly on my way to getting back into decent shape but my strength levels were down about 12% (for a few reasons). Both my body composition and and strength levels continued to improve for another couple of months before stabilizing and then I fell off the wagon diet-wise last summer. 😂😂 as y’all can imagine NOT A SINGLE PR WAS HAD 2 days out of competition and that’s perfectly fine. This competition was more enjoyable without the pre game stress like last time. Again best believe this isn’t my last SEE ME AGAIN IN APRIL (podium this time) but Through the grunts the groans all the complaining seeing the other teams working out in the same pain sharing this amazing human experience we all put our shoes on and made sure we had our asses in the gym Monday cheering rooting and loving the community. Comment what you want to see kibblefit do next. Before you stuff your face with food today stuff it with blood utilizing upside down curls. Today is Thanksgiving and nothing starts your day off better than some good ole fashion curls. Most people prefer to stand and curl but here we prefer to hang upside down and do it as the blood rushes to our head. It’s common knowledge that the more blood you can get to fill the head the more calories you burn and the faster the recovery. Enjoy your holiday. Stay Angry. Beat Kibbles.
